this goes way back:
a friend of mine, now a college librarian in new england, used to work in san jose. she wrote me … must have been 20 years ago … that a friend of hers mentioned having bought a house in fresno for $40k. another friend asked if that was the down payment.

I could hardly disagree; $1,175,000 for a starter home?! Maybe for a “starter” on some NFL team…they make enough for that.
