By the way, in researching Salman Rushdie for today’s larger post, I discovered that he has recently remarried (for the fourth time). Here’s a photo of Salman and his bride.
Things seem to be looking up indeed for Salman, in more ways than one. Rushdie is no doubt a witty and extremely intelligent man, but his charms remain somewhat elusive to me (although not, apparently, to new wife Padma Lakshmi):

I’m not too concerned with curves in so much as they have some musculature on the upper body and lower.
Which, models being what they are, don’t tend to have. Don’t know how they can carry things with such an atrophied upper arm strength.
But I suppose if all you have to do, is to wear those light weight flimsy fashoin gowns, then I don’t suppose that becomes a problem.

Just for sake of clarification, his bride ain’t no Muslim . . . . she’s Hindu, a member of a religion that brings out the Eros in everyone. Or something.

Real women have curves. Hasn’t the skinny model look passed it’s sell-by date?
Pretty face though.

Four divorces must have cost him a bundel. I wonder if he has learned his lesson, in either acting differently or choosing different women.

I see he is going to be one of the keynote speakers at the “Festival of Faith and Writing,” April 20-22, at Calvin College in Michigan.
A little wealth and power always makes an older man seem more handsome, and good looks and a great figure make a young woman seem smarter. Fair and balanced.

His charm my remain elusive, but he must have something going for him, Wow!

“Things seem to be looking up indeed for Salman…”
I think he tends to look down.

Careful, someone’s gonna see that photo and issue a fatwa!

I believe the December, 1979 National Lampoon already dealt with this topic.

I wonder: Does anybody else see Salman as the kid that plays Harry Potter 40 years hence? To my eye, it’s almost exact.

Wow…I’m impressed that her shirt isn’t falling off.
He’s giving Muslims even more to hate him for…she’s definitely not covered up enough. LOL

Why are you questioning that woman’s punishment?
February 5th, 2006 at 8:58 am
Anyhow, she must have a certain amount of guts, given the history.

Motor 1560: I think it was power, not money, according to that well-known Don Juan, Henry Kissinger.
Of course, the two are hardly mutually exclusive.

It is well known that net worth of x+(a large number) can remove years and pounds as well as adding to a males physical attraction. For some reason, the reverse does not seem to be true.
I wonder what they talk about?

Clearly he is being punished by Divine justice for the crime of insulting Islam.
Er, or something like that.
February 5th, 2006 at 8:58 am
Wow! I need to start writing a book. I’m reasonably certain I can piss more people off than he has.

Why would Rushdie marry an older woman who is balding and has a beard?
February 5th, 2006 at 8:58 am
omg, must use free will to resist urge towards adolescent comment….

Perhaps he has hidden “charms”…or maybe just money?
