Who’s afraid of the big bad UN? — 77 Comments

  1. Who could forget the presence of UN troops in Rwanda and said soliders actually witnessed women and children being chopped up with machetes and did nothing, absolutely nothing to stop the atrocities? Another ‘biggie’ for the UN is when they declined to have the US provide security at their headquarters building in Baghdad and a truck bomb blew it all to hell and killed a bunch of them, including a high ranking emissary. How about that molestation of women and children by UN forces, huh?

  2. I don’t see why Ahmadinejad should be scared of the UN as- unlike the USA- his nation has adhered strictly to the terms and spirit of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.

  3. scary,
You forgot the sarcasm tag or do you really believe the nonsense you posted?

As an aside, nobody is “scared” of the UN unless they are a woman or small child being targeted by rapists and/or pedophiles.

  4. The UN is like acadamia — a big money sack free for the grabbin’, don’t rock the boat, and and and hate those who dare to reform, “I’m eating steak today, screw justice, let the world burn, blame America, sweet dreams.”

  5. Sorry to harp on a detail, lady, but the term actually used by Mr. Johnny Most to describe DJ and other Celtics is “fiddles and diddles”, not the other way around.

  6. Senescent Wasp,
yes I do believe what I posted. Do you have evidence to prove otherwise? My evidence is the monitoring of Iran by the IAEA and the details of the NNPT. The USA is clearly in breach of it as it has admitted to developing tactical nuclear weapons for future deployment, whilst Iran has actually gone beyond the calls of the NNPT in opening its facilities to the IAEA inspectors. Additionally the Ayatollah has issued a fatwa against the “production, stockpiling and use of nuclear weapons” as these are “forbidden under Islam.

  7. Please, who IS THE UN?

Is the US not part of the UN?

What do you want? You want the UN to be disbanded?

The world is complicated, there are no easy answers or easy solutions.

Did the US invade South Africa under Apartheid, did the US support Mandela when he was fighting for freedom?

Sanctions worked in South Africa, why can’t they work in Iran.

Is it because the US had more patience dealing with Apartheid South Africa (because they were white?).

  8. Then again, the US abandoned Rwanda (you can guess why).

So stop all this sabre rattling – you do not represent the majority of the Worlds population.

One day the world will get together and deal with you.

  9. The US is part of the UN and has a veto on the security council which it has wielded constantly in pursuit of its double-standards.

The UN is the only world forum in which global matters can be debated and multilateral actions agreed and pursued. It is global democracy and, whilst undoubtedly imperfect, is infinitely superior to the anarchy that would emerge in its absence.

Sanctions did not work in South Africa. As in Iraq, they resulted in enormous suffering for the most vulnerable sections of society- children, the infirm, ethnic minorities (apart from the SA whites).

Sanctions are not the answer. Dialogue, equal treatment and engagement are.

  10. Global democracy has not any meaning, just as any democracy without common norm and values. Most of the members of this “democracy” are tyranical regims that repesent nobody except thugs at power. Really democratic states are minority in UN membership. So we have to expect nothing good from this body.

  11. Do you really expect US invade sovereign state because of such triviality as apartheid and to give help to a terrorist gang whose lider Mandella was? You are dangerously naive, Concerned. Natives lived much better under apartheid then they live now.

  12. Remember the history of League of Nations. It proved to be totally helpless to stop Hitler and vanished. History constantly repeats itself. After any world war there are attempts to establish eternal peace throught some international legal body and every time they fail. UN is now in the same stage of incompetence and inadequacy as League of Nations was before WWII. After WWIII we shall see a new attempt to stop history, and it will fail too.

  13. “One day the world will get together and deal with you.” – sounds like another arab street threat coming from peasants waving their arms in the air and burning American flags. Go burn a McDonalds in your neighborhood owned by your fellow countrymen – better yet, blow some more of yourselves up because they are Shia, or Sunni, then do some honor killings or stone some women for talking to a non-family member male and keep your honor intact. Do yourself a favor, Concerned, go cut the clitoris off your daughters before they shame you. The sooner the UN is deemed an enemy to Western interests, the better and the sooner Westerners regard civilians in muslim lands as nothing but assets of terrorism and direct contributors and enablers of islamofacism, the sooner we can carpet bomb them. After you guard your family honor, Concerned, by doing what I suggested, build a deep, strong bunker because we are coming for you and your kind. It ain’t over until the fat lady drops napalm on you and your progeny, leaving lots of crispy critters. Now that is not a veiled threat, Concerned, it is a pending reality for you and your kind, so, as Bush once said, bring it on while you can.

  14. Scary, you must be a clerk in some government office in some 3rd world nation. No doubt your whole extended family, probably the whole darn clan, is bragging about your status. Got that 4th wife yet?? The first in the clan to have a computer too I bet! The smart money behind Western interests has known for many, many years that the UN is nothing but a pack of dirty 3rd world beggars out to hustle money from the West and rich arabs, Scary. Where ya’ been, lad? Please don’t bring that UN tripe to places like this – it only makes guys like me want to bomb your straw hut. We all know the only practical solution here is to put a hefty bounty on UN ears, or scalps. Well? Why shouldn’t I talk like this to a jackass like scary?? Huh? Sheesh! What gall this character has telling us the West needs to heed the UN.

  15. Concerned “One day the world will get together and deal with you”

Moonbat code for, “Put ya’ll all up in a work camp.”

  16. Sergey said,

“Remember the history of League of Nations. It proved to be totally helpless to stop
    Hitler and vanished.”

No, it’s worse than that. The League of Nations helped financed the nazis.
The League of Nations set up a kind of world bank, although that
was not its name, headquarted in Switzerland and intended to promote the
development of the world economy. Much of the money ended up being diverted to the
    nazis.

  17. Wow, Goesh! You certainly don’t mince words do you? I did read that right didn’t I- you just threatened to “bomb my straw hut”. No wonder the rest of the world wants to fly aeroplanes into your buildings when you have no respect for anyone outside of your own country. I have half a mind to voice my support for such policies but as I am an educated and civilised individual I do not let reactionary comments provoke me. I am not a terrorist, you obviously are.

For your interest I am researching for my PhD at the University of Plymouth, UK, and I only have 1 wife.

Here’s a quick question for you: If you kill a hundred innocent civilians and one terrorist, are you winning or losing the war on terror? “Ah”, you may reply, “but that one terrorist could kill two hundred people, a thousand, more!” But then comes another question: if, by killing a hundred innocent people, you are creating five new terrorists in the future, and a popular base clamouring to give them aid and comfort, have you achieved a net gain for future generations of your countrymen, or created the enemy you deserve?

  18. Scary’s working towards his PhD at Leeds.Probably in some earth-shaking pseudoscience, e.g. anthropology or sociology. Once granted, his degree will empower him to a taxpayer-funded faculty position where his task is to clone himself, harp on social justice and moral relativity. He will still have only one wife (until sharia) but prey on the sheeplike new graduate students.

  19. Scary, mincing words only prolongs the inevitable, that one side only can remain standing in the clash between islamofacism and the West. I should have quoted something from the Epic of Gilgamesh, or at least The Lord of the Rings when I alluded to the necessity of bombing your straw hut. Clearly your mind is naught but a straw hut when you have the audacity to even imply the UN can resolve global terrorism, the direct spawn of islam. Are you daft, man!? Where is my Zippo? I always forget it when I encounter intellectuals and Liberals quivering in straw huts, afraid to even see the wolves at the door. I might forget to cite Gilgamesh but I won’t the Three Little Pigs, not by the hair on my goddamn chinny-chin-chin. This wolf is on your side, you addled Cockney. I will abide by the rules my nation sets forth but when the nihilism and pacifism and multicultural bullshit I see oozing from your posts seeks dominance in the affairs of the West, then those rules by necessity of mere survival will be broken, and broken with blunt force trauma and malice of forethought. Choose your side, Guv – your days of fence-straddling ended when Iran began to pursue nuclear weapons and Western efforts to curtail terror funding failed in preventing terror groups from being able to buy WMD from any number of available resources.
PS – if it’s any consolation to you, I have 3 ancestors that killed your ancestors in the Revolutionary War and 3, possibly more though not yet fully confirmed, that did the same in the War of 1812, but today we’re pals, you and I, are we not?

  20. I knew scary was a Brit Trot. They have a certain rhetorical odor.

Engaging it in what it would consider “debate” is futile since it has matriculated at Troll University and has a certified Hermetically Sealed Mind ©.

Let us resolve to ignore it since it is only another in a long string of Trolls trying in its flacid way to “speak truth to power”.

The left has no other arrows left in its quiver other than talk-talk. I’m kinda hoping that Leftists will rediscover their revolutionary heritage and hurl themselves piece meal into street actions. They have long since lost their ability at co-ordinated action by a disciplined cadre so all that is left to them is to act as a Fifth Column in the West as mouthpieces for Islamofascism.

And, we will need some sort of pretext to separate the dangerous ones from civil society soon when we get down to the serious nut-cutting that goesh and I, and many others, know is inevitable.

  21. Something tells me Scary is not a former SAS lad. Am I detecting a Belfast brogue with him? I would hate to see our Host kneecap him for being a defrocked priest with C-4 in the ol’ chalice.

  22. Let’s see if we can get back to the original topic which, I believe, was “slagging” the UN.

Scary is just a pimple on the ass of humanity.

It is interesting though, that goesh and I share ancestors in the Revolutionary War, I had two who fell at Lexington on that June day in 1775 and a passel of others. No matter how much they try to dilute the influence of actual Americans, as opposed to faux Americans, through unrestricted immigration we still seem to have some influence in this, our own country. For example, I have a Viet friend who is a self described Texas red-neck who takes pride in his families sacrifices made during the war that brought his family here.

But, that’s also off topic since the topic is the fact that the UN is now as useless as teats on a boar hog.

  23. Scary, some evidence/data please on your assertion that killing a terrorist creates X number in their place. Don’t fall victim, Scary, to the old APP (arab peasant ploy) that always comes after they rant and froth in the street waving their arms in the air, chanting – dire warnings of highly trained, efficient, experienced killers with superb logistical support suddenly emerging from squalid alleys by the millions lusting for infidel blood. You know the kind – you’ve seen them in squalid alleys in Cairo and Damascus selling trinkets and nasty looking food able to emerge fully armed, ready to take on whole platoons of special forces at the first killing of a member of the ummah. I don’t have it quite figured out if it makes you quiver in fear or anticipation. In light of your one comment, I suspect the latter. It’s a myth they want you to believe, or one your ideology will not allow you to divest from. Which is it, Guv?

  24. I’m all for getting back on subject. Of course the UN won’t square off with Iran. Iran hangs homosexuals so one can’t expect them to have any dealings with UN child molestors. Who would, except cash strapped 3rd world dictators….

  25. Its enervating to read the messages of hatred that are the response to the simple posting of fact. I am, frankly, refreshed to realise that this blog is- as I imagined- the home of bigotry, fascism, racism, all sorts of other prejudice and- especially- IGNORANCE. From my lofty seat of knowledge, understanding and happiness I stand shoulder to shoulder with my Muslim, Hindu, Christian and atheist colleagues and we laugh at you degenerates who dwell in darkness and filth, resorting to mudslinging to feel as if you represent anything of significance to the world. I am truly, truly sorry for you all.

There is so much beauty to be found in the world world today that I occasionally delve into the darkness that is fascist rhetoric to remind myself to appreciate the land in which I live.

As far as the UN is concerned, I haven’t seen a single argument posted yet, just insults. Lets see if any of you can construct a reasoned argument to illustrate WHY the UN is “the work of the devil” or whatever gibberish you want to post.

  26. Additionally, I don’t believe anyone here is speaking from experience of the Middle East. I have been to both Turkey and Egypt and have found both nations to be full of friendly, peaceful, benign people who couldn’t contrast more markedly with your collective, rabid xenophobia.

  27. Guys, let’s hold off on the insults. Facts are enough.

Scary: Iran has not adhered to the “terms and spirit” of the non-proliferation treaty. ElBaradei of the IAEA has filed a report criticizing Iran for it’s failure to report the “scope and nature” of it’s nuclear program. Regarding that program, the IAEA is on record as stating they have an “absence of confidence that Iran’s nuclear program is exclusively for peaceful purposes resulting from the history of concealment.”

    (link)

Khamenei’s fatwa against stockpiling stands in stark contrast to senior mullahs in Qom issuing a fatwa approving the use of nuclear weapons as countermeasures against it’s enemies. While that may sound as though they only mean to use such weapons in retaliation, no where do they state any pledge to only respond like-for-like or with proportionality; as was stated by Qom cleric and lecturer Mohsen Gharavian:

“According to Sharia too, only the goal is important.”

The UN Security Council has passed Resolution 1696 specifically because of the Iranian intransigence regarding inspections, which are the basis for the safeguards that the NPT promises. Just last week, as one of the many examples of non-cooperation, it was reported that Iran turned inspectors away from the Natanz facility (link). You are incorrect in stating that they have “opened their facilities to the IAEA inspectors”. Those very inspectors are the ones stating they’re being stonewalled.

Iran is also expanding it’s nuclear program; just recently, the Arak heavy water project was expanded.

Stating that Iran is in compliance with the “terms and spirit” is incorrect, and ignores what has been happening in the world.

  28. scary,

Total of eight years living in the ME, twelve total overseas, PhD, rural poltical and economic development, four languages, two fluently, in addition to English and twenty years plus in service to my country. Don’t make the mistake of judging us by the crusty, scum that inhabits our seaboards.

If you are “enervated” don’t blame your lack of “strength and vigor” (the acutal definition) on what you have found here. Rather, look to your effete (defined: marked by excessive self-indulgence and moral decay) beliefs.

The battle has begun, don’t get in the way.

Listening to: Concerto Palatino, The Doges Palace

  29. The words you have quoted are not attributable to the IAEA at all but in fact to Emyr Jones Parry, the UK’s representative on the UN Security Council. (you can find them here http://www.un.org/News/Press/docs//2006/sc8792.doc.htm)

The Iranians have certainly been reticent of late about allowing IAEA inspectors access to its nuclear facilities and equipment- hence Jones Parry’s statement regarding an “absence of confidence”. The IAEA have made no such statement, instead merely stating that they cannot be sure yet that Iran’s program is peaceful. I see this as meaning that they are not 100% that Iran’s program is peaceful based upon recent non-cooperation. This is a reasonable response by Iran to the increasingly hostile portrayal of Iranian intentions in the global media and should not serve as a basis for condemnation. If you, like the Iranians, had spent the last few years cooperating extensively with inspectors and actually going beyond the edicts of the NPT in allowing inspectors access to your facilities only to have this sort of response from the media then the point of inspections is open to considerable debate. Why cooperate when you are universally condemned anyway? Why not simply avoid the hassle and carry on with your business as you see fit?

I do not endorse this position but it seems obvious that such a position would result. There is no evidence to indicate that the program is for anything other than peaceful purposes, except their recent non-cooperation. The USA has seized on this as justification for pushing for sanctions, even though Iran has done nothing wrong and there is no evidence for Iran’s weapons program whatsoever. This seems to have escaped the US ambassador to the UNSC, who has stated in the forum that “Iran had defied the international community by continuing its pursuit of nuclear weapons”. This is reminiscent of the build up to the Iraqi invasion when Colin Powell was blowing hot air at the UNSC about Saddam’s WMD that- as Hans Blix established without any bloodshed- didn’t exist.

As for Qom and the mullahs, I believe that the Ayatollah has ultimate authority in this repsect and I take his word over theirs.

I have already pointed out that Iran is a signatory to the NPT. This article from that convention provides unequivocably justification for Iran’s actions:
-“Nothing in this Treaty shall be interpreted as affecting the inalienable right of all the Parties to the Treaty to develop research, production and use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes without discrimination and in conformity with Articles I and II of this Treaty.”

So, just as in Iraq, the US is manufacturing reasons to wage war on a state that refuses to toe the “American Line”.

  30. Well damn, Wasp! You make my Masters with 1 yr. of Post Grad look pretty darn puny and the time I spent with muzzies in Africa don’t count none at all for ME experience, that’s for sure. Though I do speak 3 languages, I’ve only resided in 5 countries in all my isolated life. It pains me to know that Scary will make me the butt of his jokes for only have a registered IQ of 148 – no MENSA for this boy! He’ll be laughing his Limey ass off at my 6 digit income as well. I wish you hadn’t taken him up on this, Wasp – now I’ll have to eat Spotted Dick pudding everytime he posts. And I ain’t listening to no damn fancy music either – I’m cleaning my S&W .357 with pacmayer grips, ported, worked action and 4 lb. trigger pull. I do that when I can’t find my old zippo lighter and torch a hooch badly in need of it.

  31. Well, I’m the dumbest of all. I admit it. I’m just a relatively new faculty member at a major university. I’ve lived in only one foreign country. I’m a monoglot. And I haven’t even acquired a liking for sushi yet – not that I’m supposed to. I dunno why people think it’s odd. Or maybe it’s that I’ve never had good sushi? Oh well I’ll evolve one day, although I’ve already evolved from a Leftist to a Conservative. Maybe one day I’ll become a good church-going Christian, hmmm that might be pushing it a bit, the church-going part that is. BUT you never know! One day at a time.

  32. goesh,
I figured you for a wheel gun guy. I’m still stuck in the Colt Auto period myself. I know ’em and know what a good smith can do for a piece and long since got over any trepidation about carrying “cocked and locked”. My last resort piece is a modded, but not dehorned, Colt Mustang .380 firing Federal JHP.

My son has moved into the modern era with a Glock on duty and several sweet H&K’s of verious shapes, sizes and mods. His P2000 SK is very sweet, I have to admit.

Do you suppose that people like scary have no idea what heartland American’s are like? I think if they did there’d be a lot less loose talk that simply tries our legendary patience. Does the phase, “like crap through a goose” mean anything to this generation?

  33. Pete, it’s her site and her bandwidth, and you are repititious and off topic. Although I did like your post about Bozo the other day!
BTW it should be you’re not your

  34. hahahaha 🙂 you’re trying to draw my into the gun debate. Ok, I will bite. I used to be Captain of my school shooting team and achieved the highest score with a match rifle our school has ever seen. I don’t like hand guns because they are weapons for killing people. Shooting is a skill, not a means to an end. If you like handguns you’re a PsYcHoOoOoOoOoooooooooooo!!!! Personally my favourite rifle was the Lee Enfield No.4. The .303 kicked like a mule and it was a wonderful weapon over 500 yards and for the mile.

  35. Not if you see the hand gun as a fine art piece. A perfect oeuvre for the human hand. And for stopping [sic] PsYcHoOoOoOoOoooooooooooo!!!![s] from mugging your mother who is strolling happily to the grocery store — PricelesSSSssSSSsssSSSssssS!!!!

  36. “Pete, it’s her site and her bandwidth, and you are repititious and off topic. Although I did like your post about Bozo the other day! BTW it should be you’re not your”

The occupation of Iraq and continuing carnage its is repititious. Off topic? Nonsense!

Criticism of one’s spelling in the comments section of a blog isn’t just nitpicking. It’s the obsession of an innane drone.

  37. Two comments:

Pete: you should never use the word obsession. Too much irony.

scary: “Shooting is a skill, not a means to an end” is the most vacuous statement I have run across in a long time. Funny you should mention Enfield…

  38. pete,

“The occupation of Iraq and continuing carnage its is repititious. Off topic? Nonsense!”

You’re functionally illiterate: I did not refer to the war or the carnage as repetitious and off topic. They are very important; I was referring to your comments, which are not.
Also, you don’t understand the meaning of the words obsession, inane, and drone, otherwise you would not have abused them so badly. And, it was not a spelling mistake (as we both made with “repetitious”), it was the use of a possessive for a contraction.

Back to obsession: cutting and pasting morbid article headings each day and plastering them, repetitiously, all over the blogosphere (by your own admission) is the definition of obsession. Pasting them into comments sections, usually off topic, with no meaningful or original prose to accompany them is the definition of inane (which you did misspell), and doing so with no apparent thought process is the definition of a drone.

  39. And while I’m at it: scary and concerned, you show your (note the use of the possesive) shallowness by jumping from the original topic to “bigotry, fascism, racism” with such ease. The arguements of those with no substantial arguement.

  40. scary,
No one was trying to draw you into any debate. We’d mostly like to see the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

I’ve fired the old Lee-Enfield, .303; antiquated piece of trash worse than the Brown Bess. Bad bolt, poor design and fragile enough to not be capable of shooting any upgraded hot rod round. Reminded me of the Krag-Jorgensen that the US used briefly until they copied the German Mauser action and developed the wonderful Springfield. Bettered remembered than fired.

My son recently bought a Springfield Armory, Match Grade M-14, based on the M-1 Garand action. With Match Grade rounds we were printing groups out to 600 meters which was a far as the range provided. A number of them have been “recalled to active duty” to help Iraqi snipers relax.

I agree with you regarding handguns. I’ve used them for their intended purpose several times in my life to help opponents get the rest they so desperately needed.

  41. “Pete: you should never use the word obsession. Too much irony.”

Interesting comment given that is folks like yourself that obsessed with the bogeyman terrorist.

“Also, you don’t understand the meaning of the words obsession, inane, and drone, otherwise you would not have abused them so badly.”

    From Webster:

    inane: EMPTY, INSUBSTANTIAL
drone: the male of a bee that has no sting and gathers no honey

Truth hurts eh! Once again. Enywon dat spendz preshus tiem korectin’ da spell’n or gramoor in da camments secshun of a blog be juan cerius INANE DRONE.

“cutting and pasting morbid article headings each day and plastering them, repetitiously, all over the blogosphere (by your own admission) is the definition of obsession.”

Oh, then you have got to just love
the repititious PR that got us into this occupation of Iraq eh!

  42. “Interesting comment given that is folks like yourself that obsessed with the bogeyman terrorist”
Would that be a case of turnspeak?

Really, the spam posts are only good for scrolling practice. Nothing insightful, nothing not in my morning paper. And when you’re asked to stop by the siteowner, to continue is rather boorish. Or obsessive.

As for this thread from neo’s post, many elsewhere have written that a new UN, one composed of only the democracies, should be formed. The old UN could be left to the tyrants.

  43. “Bigotry” -A bigot is a prejudiced person who is intolerant of opinions, lifestyles or identities differing from their own.

HA! -That ones got you all coming and going.

“Racism” – Racism refers to various belief systems maintaining that the essential value of an individual person can be determined according to a perceived or ascribed racial category and that social discrimination by race is therefore justifiable.

Again posts on this page captivate this definition wonderfully.

“Fascism” – Fascism is a radical totalitarian political philosophy that combines elements of corporatism, authoritarianism, extreme nationalism, militarism, anti-anarchism, anti-communism and anti-liberalism.

Well, that’s the neo-con ideology summed up in one concise little sentence, isn’t it?

So, to sum up. You (Senescent Wasp, Goesh, TomTom) are a bunch of Nazis. Your cause is one of white militant supremacy. You are hopelessly warped examples of humanity that haven’t even the excuse of a history of abuse and destitution and delinquency to pardon your opinions.

Sergey, you’re comments about the League of Nations being unable to stop Hitler ring true. Unfortunately the simile here does not involve some 3rd world aggressor but, in fact, the USA. I am deeply concerned that the UN will not prevail as a forum to limit the military ambitions of your hopelessly corrupt government. I can only hope that the significant fraction of the US population who hold world views so much less hostile than yourselves (I know they’re out there because, like you lot, they have websites. I have never, ever seen anything posted on their sites to remotely compare with the aggression and hatred I have encountered here, however.) manages to prevail at the mid-term elections and gains control of the senate, allowing them to impeach GWB. Rock on America! The world needs you now more than ever to fight the threat of global terrorism within your own borders!

  44. Back on the UN again, the UN’s humanitarian chief has accused Israel of “completely immoral” use of cluster bombs in Lebanon. He went on to add that “what’s shocking and completely immoral is: 90% of the cluster bomb strikes occurred in the last 72 hours of the conflict, when we knew there would be a resolution,”.

These weapons will maim or kill thousands of children and other civilians. How does this make Israel any better than suicide bombers who blow themselves up on buses full of children and civilians?

  45. See, Hermetically Sealed For Protection Against Non-Marxist Thought™ Drop in a coin and it plays back the same old trope with the same old, discredited memes.

I, at least, evolved into my current political perceptions vis a vis the international scene over time, moving from being a relative moderate on foreign policy issues to the hard line I now have. On domestic issues, I remain fairly moderate.

scary on the other hand gobbled up the Marxist gruel and followed it by chugging down the frosty glass of poisonous Kool Aid. When security issues once again drive the coming US elections to the right, it’ll simply continue on. It’ll be safe in it’s minor red brick university, of course, as long as it doesn’t begin to act on its perceptions outside the voting booth and stays within the confines of its college; an aviary for bird brains. Safe that is until some loiner Yorkshireman decides the campus is a nest of vipers.

  46. Dude, I’m really not scared of your name-calling. Marxism? What’s that. I run my life by common sense and evidence-based decision making. How about you?

  47. scary, look up the term “epithets of abuse”, google “Sidney Hook” and go from there. Don’t forget “Godwin’s Law”. We have already gone through these silly “bigot”, “racist”, and “Nazi/Fascist” arguments used to tar everyone here. As well as the “white supremicist”. Are there any “brown supremicists” in your weltanschaung? Or is that not possible? Interestingly, at least one hurling them turned out to be the bigger racist. Another had such a convoluted definition of racist that it was pathetic. Do you understand the difference between culture, ideology, religion, and race?

The aggressive tone is from the perceived threat, rightly or wrongly. With roughly 4000 Islamic fascist terrorist acts since 9/11, there may be something there. I have lost the url to the site that keeps the documentation, anyone have it for scary?

Here are a few questions for you: can a religion also be a political ideology, and if so, should it be treated as such? Would it be racist, bigoted, to oppose such a philosophy? Try not to be euro-centric in your answer.

“I run my life by common sense and evidence-based decision making” is hubris, nothing more. We all have bias, filters through which we see the world. And everything we read has been filtered at least once by someone else.

Your comments regarding the Red Cross and the faked missile strike were telling.

Read about the attacks on Conquest’s book “The Great Terror”, a prime lesson on how those “evidence-based” reality people refused to see the evidence before them regarding Stalin’s reign of terror. “How could the NYT have lied!!!” they howled.

  48. Dude, I’m not your personal disciple to be preached to. I’m not going to bother reading any of your hysterical Nazi propaganda so save your fingers. I am far to far beyond you morally and socially to be bothered by your enormous bias against the religion of Islam. Try this one on for size- how many Christian fascist terrorist acts have I observed in the last 4 years? (Its a rhetorical question!)

I am only ashamed that my own country has been subsumed by its own Christian extremist leader to the wills of your administration. This will not last. When Blair goes so will the UK troops in Iraq. Where will you be then, hey? Up a proverbial creek without any allies whatsoever.

What really galls me, though, is how you dare accuse the International Committee for the Red Cross of taking sides in this godsawful conflict. This is an organisation that has remained neutral since its inception and has been present throughout some of the most appalling acts of genocide throughout history on its humanitarian mission of faultless morals. Yet you seem to think that in this filthy little piece of genocidal brutality, after all they have lived through, they are going to suddenly decide to throw all that to the wind and engage in some absurd piece of war crime falsification!?! There is no way that anyone could present any more convincing evidence that the American right is ruled by paranoia, neurosis and utter hysteria. You should be ashamed of yourself.

    NB
FYI I composed a list of rebuttals to that moron Zombie’s list of ‘evidence’ but he doesn’t seem to be getting my emails. Oh well. I haven’t the time or the inclination to bother sending them again but if you are interested they are here (although my blog seems to be taking a while to update itself these days so you might have to wait):
    http://punkscientist.blogspot.com/

  49. As if zombietime has the time or inclination to respond to this cretin.

I browsed to its blog and thought for a minute or two of reading that it was a parody site, but apparently scary posts its drivel in all seriousness. I am just so happy that scary and its ilk are all vine and no ‘taters, all hat and no cattle, all talk and no action.

It even believes that without the UK the US would be in a world of hurt when just the opposite is true. If the UK goes left and sticks its head in the sand, leaving its hindquarters vulnerable it deserves the consequences just as Lebanon is suffering the consequences of letting the Hez set up a mini-state in its borders.

  50. Scary, your doctor called. Said you should not come back to this site; something about it being bad for your blood pressure, or some such.

  51. Scarey.

Don’t waste too much time trying to convince these functionally immoral partisans that they are wrong. They know they are already. At this point in time they are just trying to save face. Don’t let them. Just rub their faces in the mess that they make … works well with some dogs.

  52. Pete: You ever get the feeling that they think more or less exactly the same about you as you think about them?

  53. Good words, Pete.

Bush’s approval ratings fall to 43% with 39% strongly disapproving.

Another 50 people die in a Baghdad bombing. The death toll for July was nearly 1600. Good going guys- you’ve really bought freedom and democracy to THAT country.

Osama is still on the run, BTW. Al Qaeda continues to plot mass terror and death.

The UN has successfully negotiated a ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel, bringing an end to the US-supplied genocide. Israel now being referred to the UN for war crimes including unnecessary civilian casualties, collective punishment of a nation and the widespread indiscriminate deployment of cluster munitions against civilian targets.

Climate change continues to produce larger and larger hurricanes that track towards the US coastline. When will the next Kattrina hit?

  54. Oh- and don’t forget guys that the mayors of more than 300 cities across the country have signed a Climate Protection Agreement in which they have pledged to meet the emissions-cutting timetable laid down by the Kyoto Protocol – regardless of what the Bush administration decides.

You Nazis are on the run every way I turn. I love it. Freedom and justice prevail once again. I don’t know why you guys bother- you’ll never prevail against REASON and RATIONALITY and SANITY and JUSTICE. Your messages of hatred will die with you.

  55. “Pete: You ever get the feeling that they think more or less exactly the same about you as you think about them?”

“You ever get the feeling”? I am counting on it!

  56. Dude, seems you are the only one with the right to preach, eh? So authortarian of you, dude. Now, dude, how about faith without reason. A huge, international organization can’t have any corruption in any area, eh, dude? Wow, you’re so fundamentalist, dude. Dude, how do you reason without questioning? So un-dialectical of you, dude.

Hey, dude, I’ve learned that the ones that are so sure they are soooooo rational, they are sooooo intellectual, they are sooooo right, are fools.

Dude, you’re the one that needs to be ashamed. But that’s not for you, is it? You can only feel shame for others, So righteous of you, dude.

  57. Ariel, you’re godsdamn right. Pretty bodacious too, dude.

So what was your point in all that poorly-parodied drivel? Something about a huge, international organisation and corruption?

So you’re saying the ICRC is corrupt?

    Yeah.

    Right.

That huge black market in band-aids is just such a killing zone for a quick profit right now, hey? All those Eastern European maffiosi are just raking in the protection racket that all those stupid humanitarian agencies have to pay, hey?

Try and justify how a humanitarian agency gains from corruption. Go on. Try it.

    Try . . . .
    Keep trying . . . . .
    go on! You can do it!! . . . . . . .
    Can’t you? . . .
    Oh. . . .
    Shit. . . .
    You can’t.

  58. No, you fool, I am saying corruption can be localized. And people in any organization can be deceived. Organizations do not gain from corruption, but individuals and groups within the organization can and do. You are the most naive, self-righteous ass I have run across. My “drivel” was that you are exactly what you hate, you think like a dogmatic, authortarian, religious extremist. But you can’t see it.
Are you capable of thinking outside of your smug box?
    Try it, just try it.

  59. Oh look! I’m outside of my box! And suddenly I realise that its ok to torture people, to commit genocide, to repress democratically elected governments whose policies I don’t agree with, to manipulate my economic muscle to repress and enslave others, to supply corrupt regimes that cooporate with the foreign policies I desire with weapons of mass destruction, to fund insurgent groups that are fighting against regimes who don’t comply with my foreign policy objectives, to consider anyone who is not a citizen of my own country “untermenschen” and to deny them the same level of civil and human rights as I enjoy, etc. etc. etc.

    Fuck you, you Nazi cunt.

  60. Interesting, you didn’t reply at all to my rebuttal of your challenge regarding organizations gaining from corruption, but instead went off on a disjointed rant. I met the challenge in three sentences.

Disprove what I wrote, rather than going into a rant because the rant seemingly proves me right by default.

Therefore, the Red Cross could have such an issue, as the pictures of the ambulance do raise the question.

Calling everyone that disagrees with you a “Nazi” is immature and abusive, not to mention ignorant. If calling a male a four-letter word for female genitalia is your greatest insult, I would say you need to work on your sexist low opinion of women. Seems you have much personal work to do.

I realize calling you a fool and a naive, self-righteous ass may have set you off, but why did you have to prove me so right?

  61. “However a majority of Islam exists amongst developing countries and have no excuses for knowing better.”

That is believing in “untermenschen”. Besides being soft racism with a tinge of White Man’s Burden.

  62. Who could forget the presence of UN troops in Rwanda and said soliders actually witnessed women and children being chopped up with machetes and did nothing, absolutely nothing to stop the atrocities?

They aren’t paid to risk their lives to save others. They are there so that whoever wins, can pay the UN troops to put a thin veneer of legitimacy upon the existing regime.

Is the US not part of the UN?

What do you want? You want the UN to be disbanded?

Joint FBI-Marine raid on the UN building would be nice, to seize all the loot and records in there, if the UN can’t be disbanded.

So stop all this sabre rattling – you do not represent the majority of the Worlds population.

Nuclear Missile Submarines neither have sabres nor do they rattle when the tubes are opened.

One day the world will get together and deal with you.
    Concerned | 08.30.06 – 4:46 am | #

One day the world might realize just who they are dealing with. I’ll be waiting for that day for when they band together, making an easier target.

I have half a mind to voice my support for such policies but as I am an educated and civilised individual I do not let reactionary comments provoke me. I am not a terrorist, you obviously are.

For your interest I am researching for my PhD at the University of Plymouth, UK, and I only have 1 wife.

He just spelled civilized as “civilised”. Duh, he is in Brit land. I guess he likes repeating himself.

Pete, it’s her site and her bandwidth, and you are repititious and off topic. Although I did like your post about Bozo the other day!
BTW it should be you’re not your
    Brad | 08.30.06 – 5:06 pm | #

Didn’t you get it Brad, private property doesn’t exist unless you are the anointed elites of the left.

Neo, you are like a magnet. An electro magnet.

Dude, I’m not your personal disciple to be preached to.

Everyone is a disciple of Ariel, otherwise they get their heads chopped off. See that’s the difference. Ariel is peaceful, so people mouth off at people like Ariel. Islamic Jihad is warlike, and people like scary respect and fear them. Intimidation works, try it out.

I am far to far beyond you morally and socially to be bothered by your enormous bias against the religion of Islam.

Islam is good, you are the bad. Why? Because Islam uses intimidation and you don’t. Tough nuggies.

Pete: You ever get the feeling that they think more or less exactly the same about you as you think about them?
    Justin Olbrantz (Quantam) | 09.01.06 – 2:54 am | #

What you talking about Justin, I love Pete like Spock loves Kirk.

Dude, you’re the one that needs to be ashamed. But that’s not for you, is it? You can only feel shame for others, So righteous of you, dude.
    Ariel | 09.02.06 – 5:43 pm | #

Good try Ariel, but without an assassination squad, it’s kind of hard to win. Centanni knows exactly how people get success with convincing

  63. Centanni knows exactly how people get success with convincing people.

The advantage I hold over people like Pete and terroists, is that I can sublimate red rage into cold fury. They can’t. How many martial artists are democrats and lfake liberals, I have always wondered. I personally don’t know of one, if any. How much does people like pete and scary have control over themselves? zero?

Just assassinate their soul or their body, but jeez, Ariel, stop torturing them. It is inhumane.

  64. Fuck you, you Nazi cunt.

The madder they get, the more inches of a wooden stake I can put into them, if not a couple of inches of steel into their vital organs. Kidney looks good.

Scary hasn’t seen the absolute annihilation powers, to be scared yet. It’ll be full of glory once he does.

  65. Ariel, you genuinely seem to want to engage me in reasoned debate. I am not going to fall for this. I tried that when I first posted on this forum and here was the response:

“”One day the world will get together and deal with you.” – sounds like another arab street threat coming from peasants waving their arms in the air and burning American flags. Now that is not a veiled threat, Concerned, it is a pending reality for you and your kind, so, as Bush once said, bring it on while you can.
    goesh | 08.30.06 – 7:53 am | # “

  66. And further:

“Scary, you must be a clerk in some government office in some 3rd world nation. Huh? Sheesh! What gall this character has telling us the West needs to heed the UN.
    goesh | 08.30.06 – 8:23 am | # ”

    Nice.

  67. Ariel,

I have only called four people here cunts and nazis. They are yourself, Goesh, Tom and Senescent Wasp (to whom I offer an apology as, looking back at the series of posts here, the comments that so offended me were written by Goesh and not him).

As for my use of the wonderful word ‘cunt’- I like the word and my use of it is purely offensive in your case. I have no problems with women and although my wife does object to me using the word frequently she uses it too occasionally in a similar context.

So, why is it that you people can’t structure a reasoned argument? Why the persistent hurling of epithets instead of evidence-based reasoning? (Epithets mean very different things to different people and consequently only serve to muddy matters.)

  68. Ariel (cont.),

As a response to the ICRC ‘thing’, consider this: Why, in the midst of the Lebanese genocide, the illegal collective punishment of a nation by Israel, its use of cluster munitions against civilian targets, the deliberate shelling and bombing of UN observers, the attacks on aid convoys and the obstruction of humanitarian aid . . . would anyone bother trying to fake yet more evidence that Israel has committed war crimes. The ambulance strike was appalling but in the context of the Israel’s general conduct of the war it pales into insignificance.

As for your assertion that “the pictures of the ambulance do raise the question”, I have already posted a link to my detailed rebuttal of the theory. I suggest you read it.
