The ex-President’s analysts — 12 Comments

  1. Sorry but I don’t have time to listen to this, can someone let me know if instead of the “larger issues” raised did anyone address the facts of the arguments Clinton made?

Also, maybe I missed it: Did anyone call a panel of “mental health professionals” to analyze Bush’s tantrum of Sept 15th, responding to a perfectly legitimate question?

  2. Clinton’s facts? Like the lie that he was opposed by “neo-cons” because he made bin Laden a priority?

  3. The conservative movement party is dead and many of you posting here contributed to its death. Thank you but couldn’t you have done so without screwing our country up soo much.

  4. Should have read:

  5. pete, even if American citizens wrest control of their government from the godawful Straussians, your military is still hopelessly overextended into your culture, politics, economy.

I don’t think a term or two of Democratic governance is going to do anything to stop the military-industrial juggernaut. After witnessing the USA’s reaction to 9/11, I’m very concerned with how your country is going to cope with the increasingly urgent global stresses of overpopulation. There will come a point in the 21st century, I’m convinced, where humanity will have to choose between cooperation and conflict, and I’m afraid the USA will spoil it for everybody.

The anti-American crowd is hopelessly incoherent, as such garbled phrases as ”your military is still hopelessly overextended into your culture, politics, economy” will amply attest. Searching for meaning from the confused declarations of these characters is sometimes like trying to wade through molasses: Just when stability seems near we find ourselves slipping into unintelligibility. Clear writing, logical deduction and sober historical analysis never seem to be their strong suits.

Ah yes, the ”conservative movement is dead,” yet the Republicans control both houses of Congress, the Whitehouse and the SCOTUS has been given a conservative majority. The corpse seems to be moving quite a bit but never let it be said that the anti-Americans put much stock in reality.

And there’s always the disturbing basic assumptions of the anti-Americans, such as the unspoken assumption that is the US’s responsibility to cope with issues like the “… increasingly urgent global stresses of overpopulation …” instead of the regions where such overpopulation is actually occurring. It’s the attitude of the child toward the adult: YOU MUST SAVE ME FROM MYSELF OR I”LL HATE YOU.

  7. grackle, you’re clearly a smart, undereducated guy.

For the less lazy, more open-minded people reading this thread the full case is made in this documentary.

Regarding overpopulation, yes, you’re right, I’m sure the USA has nothing to worry about. Forget I mentioned it.

Over the years I’ve read Eisenhower’s famous speech more than a couple of times. Although I agree with the gist of it if I had been the speechwriter I might have couched the rhetoric in less paranoid terms. I think perhaps Gen. MacArthur’s popularity after being recalled from Korea for MacArthur’s attempted defiance of Truman(Ike’s immediate successor) and subsequent futile bid for the Whitehouse had a few folks a little jumpy back then. But never fear, the simple truth is that OUR military is kept firmly on a civilian leash, as even a cursory reading of American history illustrates.

For the readers the site seems to be pimping your standard, vaguely pacifistic, vaguely anti-war run of the mill anti-American bullshit “documentary.” If you are interested in that sort of thing go ahead a give it a look. I’ve seen it all many times and it has all been refuted it to my satisfaction beyond redemption. I don’t have to run out and buy the piece of crap they(and Anonymous) are trying promote – I read the interview of the propagandist that produced this “documentary” and that told me all I need to know. It’s not laziness, it’s simple revulsion. Along with the repugnance one naturally feels when confronting such breathtaking hypocrisy there were brief spates of unbelieving laughter, such as when the “producer” compares himself to Frank Capra. Always good for a belly-laugh, these idiots.

I think Anonymous is smart to drop the implication that the USA bears responsibility for solving such problems as overpopulation instead of the people of those regions that are creating the overpopulation problem.
