I’m really not here, my Puter is disconnected.

Our Redneck Christmas is not being neglected.

We have them lighted icecycle thingies on the trailer house.

And one of them red nosed raindeer on top of the dog house.

Our yard has lights wound around all my old pickups and cars,

And we broke out the good stuff thats in those quart jars.

The bird is fried, the taters are cooked, and the dressing is browned.

And the ham is baked, the greens are done, and the deviled eggs are crowned.

No blogging or commenting for us today.

Because this is Little Jesus’s wonderful Birthday.

Hey, neo!

I was so busy with Hannukah that Christmas just kind of crept up on me. My granddaughter attends a Jewish preschool, so I bought a menorah and a cool dreidl and we found some of the prayers. I made up a basket of 8 gifts for my g.d., which her parents doled out each day.

That, combined with the 12 days of Christmas is a real orgy so all she got for Xmas from me was a plastic golden crown with jewels — an item of attire she wore with great aplomb. Her only request for a present was an electric train…go figure.

BTW, she has learned to say the Shabbat blessing. Yesterday, at Christmas dinner, I asked her if she’d like to say the blessing before we ate. She looked at me solemnly and disprovingly and said, “THAT is only for Shabbat.” So the future Baron said the usual (and pedestrian by comparison) Catholic blessing. I told him we’d have to find the Latin version just to watch my granddaughter’s face when he recited it.

I *did* blog on Christmas. Didn’t mean to, since we were having anywhere from 7 to 9 people for dinner, but the Baron was very ill from some bug he caught traveling last week and I couldn’t sleep. Larwyn had dropped an interesting tidbit in the email (even if it *was* from the NYT) so I ended up doing a post before dawn (the B is on the mend, but still not all the way back).

Wish I’d seen your poem in time; I’d have put it up. Dr. Sanity must be rubbing off on you??
