It may be a “distraction,” and no doubt the word “silly” could be said to apply, but I think it’s important to inject a bit of levity—and jello (preferably jello mold)—into life every now and then.
Not to mention beauty and creativity. And I have found a photo that fits the bill in every way.
What does it represent? The city of San Francisco made of jello, part of an installation at that city’s Exploratorium appearing in the spring of 2006.
Feast your eyes:

I have always hated Jello, and although I like visiting San Francisco, this is not going to make me think any better of its jiggling inhabitants.

It would probably hold up better during an earthquake than the real thing. Perhaps that’s the answer for cities in earthquake zones: jello-based architecture.

It looks like the houses and hotels you find in a monopoly game, only made with jello!
…
You know you are starting to scare me with this Jello thing. :p

You have a point…Jim Jones started the “drinking the Kool-Aid” cultural reference. Could Neo be doing the same thing? I mean, will future generations refer as easily to “eating the Jello?” As in: “oh, s/he’s just eating the conservative Jello.”

Of all deserts you love the one that tastes so good and is such fun!!
[I am not the first person to note the entendre’s]
That last line isn’t the right line for the product (at least I don’t think so).
This is probably closer, but I couldn’t find a good source.

Must be jello, ’cause jam don’t shake like that.

Now THAT IS beautiful! How ever did you find it? This is the one jello concoction that really turned me on!
I’m not to keen on San Francisco lately (or rather the beliefs of the people who live therein), but what a creative and terrific use of the characters of jello: bright, true colors available, the transparency (and thus the melding of color when layered or when someone views the creation at angles so as to be looking thru several colors at once, creating more colors!), and the unique form of jello which is solid but jiggly, yet allows precise slicing, or chopping to create different effects — say buildings as well as greenery, etc.
Just wonderful! And fun! Thanks Neo-
