Reflections on 9/11 — 4 Comments

  1. Given the events on Flight 93, why do the government and the American people continue to think that police state powers, such as the ones Tony Blair inculcated in Britain, is the proper way to go about fighting terrorism?

  2. I recall seeing that documentary and thinking the same thing concerning the falling bodies. One of my college roomates survived both WTC attacks, when I spoke to him a week after 9/11 he related the visuals and sounds of the falling bodies. He spoke for an hour that night without me having (or being able to) say anything. God bless those people.

  3. Dear Neo,

Yes, the overt patriotism seems to have died. That is an illusion. It lives on where it really counts – in the heart and the gut of the American people.

    Regards,
    Roy

  4. > because history, like life, can only be understood backwards (if at all). But it must be lived forwards.

Wasn’t it the Greeks who saw people passing through time facing backwards? What happened is laid out before you, but what is to come, you cannot see…?

    Interesting viewpoint, regardless of origination.
