Stupid or malicious? — 7 Comments

  1. Definitely, both (stupid & malicious)!
I find myself simply growing tired of this media and their campaign for Obama now, as well as other campaigns we, as readers, are subjected to en masse. Does anyone think this is attributable to that modern day phenomenon known as “gang mentality?” i.e. people doing things or writing, specifically in this case, that they otherwise would not as an individual voice?
What happens to all those writers who have integrity but must earn a living? I think if I were a writer, I’d have felt like quitting a thousand times by now out of protest, embarassment, disgust, or the desire to separate myself from what seems to be the “go along to get along” required point of view.

To all those who have the heart to keep at it everyday with strong independent and reasonable voices, I thank you because it’s obvious you have never been more needed. I’ll keep looking for you everyday just as I have come to look for neo’s contributions!

  2. Personally I vote for simply malicious – I don’t think they were stupid in the least. I think they were speaking to the Believers with that and that is what the believers want to hear. Their readership is now almost entirely of that type of person and a fair/truthful article would *not* have went over well with them.

I do, however, think what put them in this position was being both. But then I think they are also quite happy with how their mag is taken by the “right” people now (no need to pander to those fly over people anymore).

  3. > Why do we have to choose? I vote both.

Heck, throw in a nice measure of “incompetent” and we gots ourselves a recipe for postmodern journalism!!

  4. yadda, yadda, the people are hearing about her son going off to Iraq and that’s what they see as well. He will be immediately transfered out of his unit and sent to the other end of the country and put in an Admin job – that’s what will really happen because people don’t act and think as the freakin’ pundits so desperately want and need them to. I am so thankful I mix with a wide, wide range of people and am not cloistered with the same mind set.

  5. We have to have a black (democrat) as President of the United States and nothing, nothing must stand in the way of that goal. They know how close 2000 and 2004 was. If they have to pull out all the stops and sell their souls to Joseph Stalin doing it well then, so be it.

Welcome to the culture war’s most important battleground.

  6. This reminds me of the fact that often you want to give your enemy enough time and rope so that they will focus their forces. Why, Neo? So that you can surprise them. If the enemy focuses their focus, it means they think they can get a bigger hammer than yours. And if they think that, they won’t be ready when you squash them.

However, if you demonstrate your defenses on say… the Iraq war, then the Left will have plenty of time to adapt, evade, and conform their attack plans based upon their view of your weaknesses and strengths. They will be far more cautious and thus have a higher chance of survival.

If an enemy thinks he can roll you over, and he tries it and fails, then he has a suffered a decisive defeat. But there can be no decisive anything, unless the enemy commits his forces. And he won’t commit his forces if he thinks he will lose.

The lovely thing about ambush and disinformation is that you can get the Left to make spurious attacks and charges against Palin. And then fall into the pit when their expectations go up in smokes.

Interestingly, the Left is so focused on lying, that they are conducting disinformation campaigns even against themselves and their own people. At this point, not only do they refuse to CARE about the truth of Sarah Palin, their people no longer even KNOW which is true and which is false any more.
