Why doesn’t he just order the equipment to fix itself, or have rainbow unicorns fix it, or something?

Tell me they had to walk up 30 floors to get to his condo, then I’ll have some empathy for their travails. Did that when they blew the power on Oahu back in the early ’90s. Fortunately, I had developed the habit of walking up occasionally in case of emergency and a bit of exercise. The retirees were not so prepared.
It is really horrible when the power goes out in paradise. You must leave office buildings because the a/c is off. Fortunately, a window that opens is all that is needed if your not stuck in an office builiding.

Power goes out at 7pm? Put the kids to bed early, light some candles in the bedroom, and by the time everyone wakes up in the morning the power is back on.
I recall after Hurricane Iwa the power, and water, was out longer than that for my family.
