  2. I suspect once the dollar collapses we will hear more calls for regional currency- which really does not solve anything, but it will be the excuse they will use. The long term goal of the globalist, both right and left, is the weakening of the western Nation-State.

    I think the above phrase is what touches the worlds’ nerve. When they see the recklessness of this administration to use thie current financial crises to set upon us a radical agenda it gives the truly sane (among his supporters) reason to pause.

    I am not surprised at all by Obama’s behavior. I told my brother before the election…

    My brother took a chance that to him seemed worth taking, and voted for Obama. I doubt Obama will get my brothers vote again. Obama better have more tricks because the ones he uses are getting old, even to many of his supporters.

    We could have been spared all this if instead of covering for Obama and carrying his water the MSM would have just vetted him like they vet all Republicans. Trust me, his tricks, lies, etc. would have been exposed if he had an (R) behind his name.

    Our Founding Fathers gave all kinds of warnings and sage advice. Instead of spoon feeding our youth about global warning, politically correct based current events and history that justifies government actions that trash our Constitution, we ought to have our students study the simple text of the Constitution, study the Federalist Papers and discuss these things along with other things said by our Founding Fathers in context with today.

    Today we talk with complete narcissistic views of current events, coupled with momentary wants and needs as if they were constitutionally guaranteed. Of course the Constitution is never directly referenced in such cases because it does not guarantee such things. We instead turn to thin court decisions and legislation that is at best constitutionally questionable. All this is put in a moral context that discards any context our Founding Fathers would have found moral let alone justifiable.

  5. I am both encouraged and discouraged.The incredible ineptitude of this admin. gives me hope that they will accomplish little of what they want.
    Then ,I think that in four years they will have another 60+ million, from who knows where , to delude the uninformed and I think only in terms of despair.

    Those who have read the Federalist Papers will realize how prescient that have proven to be. It seems like there is a great deal of prescient wisdom in and around the “traditional” America, and an inordinate amount of folly in those who would tear it down. One could almost discern a battleground between the Divine and the Diabolical.

    How many times must people face ‘I told you so’ situations before they see that the people who oppose them have some wisdom?

  7. I also linked to a Daniel Webster quote in my comment at this post about Obama’s questionable proposal for mandatory national slavery–oops, I mean, national service.

    At this point, I’m beginning to wonder if there are any leaders from the early years of the republic who wouldn’t be horrified at what has been happening in Washington during the last two months.

  9. I wonder if there was similar correspondence to ours (though handwritten) in 1930’s Germany between the Germans who knew they were headed to hell in a handbasket? I’ll have to do a search on that and get back with you.

  10. Lincoln said something quite similar, January 27, 1838:

  11. Actually, Daniel Webster was wrong: miracles tend to cluster, but his conclusion still holds. They are rare exactly because they cluster in very few historic turnpoints, and this clustering is a miracle in itself. Carl Yung wrote a very insightfull paper on this, called Synchronisticity; anybody without his credentials would be called a superstitios nut for this.
