The Susan Boyle makeover commences — 5 Comments

  1. It is ironic, but predictable, that the glitterati want her to stay as homely as possible.

Certainly the steps that she has taken are modest, reasonable and positive. Perhaps she will have the good sense to continue to use good sense.

I stated early on that I hope the sharks don’t spoil things for her. I hope she can enjoy this, ride the wave as far as she reasonably can, and come out of it unscathed.

  2. It’s unfortunate. I had told a friend that the media would use her up in a couple of months and that would be the end of it. I said I hoped one thing Simon (or the other judges) could do for her right away was to put her in touch with some good representation. I think the makeover thing would have been fine (who doesn’t want to look their best?) after a while – say after the first album.

The media will through her to the side of the road faster than Obama could utter an apology to a foreign nation.

Too bad – she has real talent.

  3. Shes got the voice to pace herself into a long and distinguished career. I hope thats what happens for her.

  4. I’m not sure, but I think Simon is producer of the show and the show may require contestants to sign agreement beforehand, to representation by him, a company of his, or some deal where he gets a piece of the action. Which isn’t that unusual.

I just hope she gets good representation, which allows her share her gift, as well as enjoy the experiences.

As for some makeover stuff — she’s been caring for others most of her life. Who doesn’t like a bit of attention? If it gives her a lift, great! Go for it; enjoy the ride. As for her personality, I suspect she knows just who she is and will remain so. (She’s almost 50; not like some young kid who is molded by “handlers.”)

(I just hope some slug of a man doesn’t take advantage of her — apparently she’s rather naive in the area of romance.)
