A little lightness to brighten your drab day — 57 Comments

  1. She wanted me and I told her “no”. 🙂

Need more meat on them bones!

  2. Frail looking, ultra skinny, coddled without any real justification, yammering on constantly without an intelligent thought to be found between the ears…

And the poor dog’s owner is no better.

  3. Please, I’ll take Obama and Iran over what’s her face.
When weighing tragedy against farce, remember, tragedy is tragedy, because it matters. Farce on the other hand, not so much….

  4. What a shining beacon of all the glories of American capitalism, the sacredness of property, and the unquestionable transfer of wealth from one generation to another!

Is she not the American dream?

  5. Shepard Says:

“What a shining beacon of all the glories of American capitalism, the sacredness of property, and the unquestionable transfer of wealth from one generation to another!

Is she not the American dream?”

I’m pretty sure that thus far, she has made most of the money she spends herself. She has done a brilliant job of self promotion and marketing….

  6. Right Shepard. It is so much better for the government to confiscate the wealth that an individual accumulates over the course of a lifetime and do good things with it. Oh, wait. Somehow it just doesn’t work quite the way people imagine it will once the government gets it hands on the money.

One more thought. Do you notice that the do-good Liberals somehow hang onto theirs through multiple generations, while lecturing us to be different? The Kennedy dynasty comes readily to mind.

    Cute dog.

  7. Well I like Paris Hilton, she’s funny, self deprecating, confident and really not as dumb as she’s portrayed, remember her reply to John McCain? Note that although it was done at short notice there isn’t an um, ah, er, er, er, uh anywhere in it. Would that Barry could speak so well.
I wish people would get over freaking out over good looking women.

  8. Paris Hilton – I wouldn’t take her to a dog-fight, even if she could win. A truly ugly human being, useless sack of skin and oxygen thief. Has anyone discovered something this ‘thing’ will not do for attention?

  9. Greetings:

Now, girl, a little sisterhood please. Remember, you’re both victims of the same oppression.

  10. Because some people get in a snit over trivia, here are some jokes. All cribbed from the net.

A man walked into a bar and sat down next to a man with a dog at his feet. “Does your dog bite?” he asked. “No,” was the reply.
A few minutes later, the dog took a huge chunk out of his leg. “I thought you said your dog doesn’t bite!” the man said indignantly.
“That’s not my dog,” was the answer…

A three legged dog walks into a bar and says, “I’m looking for the man who shot my paw…”

Why did the poor dog chase his own tail ? He was trying to make both ends meet !

What happens when it rains cats and dogs ? You can step in a poodle !

Diplomacy is saying “nice doggy” until you find a rock.

What has four legs and an arm? A happy pit bull.

Q: Who is the dogs favorite comedian?
    A: Growlcho Marx

Q: What do you get if you cross a sheepdog with a rose?
    A: A collie-flower!

My karma ran over my dogma.

  11. Paris Hilton is an affront to all primates with opposable thumbs. She alone would justify chimpanzees’ throwing their crap at us in the zoo.

  12. I dream of a world where no one knows who she is, except friends and a few intense groupies. Does that make me a bad person?

…AND I liked the Happy Pit Bull. Have to remember that one.

  13. I wonder why people can’t tell reality from entertainment, most of what you ‘know’ about her is entertainment, not reality.

  14. I suppose “young, dumb and pretty” has its advantages, but at my age, a conversation with a young female who uses the words “like” and “ya know” at least ten times in every sentence is really not worth having. And as to “super thin,” it gets dang cold where I live on long January nights and I would prefer a woman with curves who can aid me in keeping warm. Finally, while I usually love both dogs and cats, my view is that chihuahua’s are just nervous rats who pee on the rug, so Paris lost me from the get-go by carrying that rodent around.

  15. So, I’m not much for pop culture – what I do know I’ve read about so I tend to not know famous people by pictures. With being said this was my reaction:

My first thought when I saw the picture was “That woman is a bit skinny, but fairly good looking”. I also thought that in the sense that she was roughly in my age group and “datable material” – mid to late 30s.

Then I thought “Isn’t that Paris Hilton?” and yup, it is. My next thought was “Isn’t she quite a bit younger than me? And same answer – yup she sure is.

You know, the sad thing is that she is (according to the birth date given in Wikipedia) 28. She looks much older in that photo and there is no telling how much she payed to make herself look better.

  16. I am fascinated, absolutely fascinated, by the attention to the appearance (especially the thinness) of a woman displayed here.

Now, certainly I’m not a regular here, but I have to wonder if this blog’s proprietor has ever posted a photo of a man that was subject to such discussion?

  17. I have a Maine Coon cat that could eat that barking rat for lunch. Just an appetizer, though. He’d still be hungry. But it would be a shame to deprive Paris of her intellectual better half.

  18. Wow! I really don’t get the anger here directed at PH. I wonder what Dr. Sanity would have to say about it. Reminds me a bit of the hysteria over Sarah Palin and Carrie Prejean. Don’t you folks have something better to do? So she’s rich, she’s thin, she’s quite good looking, she entertains a lot of people and makes money doing it, she’s probably quite a nice person and as far as I know doesn’t do anyone any harm.

Now take Obama, [please!] he’s quite rich by now, he’s thin, he’s quite good looking, he makes a lot of people feel good, my bet is that he’s not a nice person, [by their friends shall ye know them] and he’s in the process of doing immense harm to the US.

PH is at worst a distraction. A distraction is only a distraction if you take notice of it.

  19. Of the two, the Chihuahua is the fiercest. Click this link (http://tinyurl.com/lkbler) to a recent story about three 3 pound toy Chihuahuas who kept a full sized Mountain Lion at bay in a garage for an hour until the police came.

By the way, look at the sidebar on this page from KTLA above. Is it my imagination or, is there an incredible oversupply of whack jobs out there in KTLA land?

  20. I wouldn’t call the feelings being expressed towards Hilton as “anger” so much as annoyance.

There are good reasons why one is seen more sympathetically than the other.

    – Palin got where she is by her own hard work.
    – Hilton got where she is by showing up.

    – Whatever money Palin has made, she’s made it from her own efforts.
    – Hilton inherited a fortune she had nothing to do with creating.

Yes, she’s made a fortune on her own as well, but she would not have been in a position to make THAT fortune so easily had she not already been an heiress to the original Hilton family fortune.

    – Palin is famous for her energy, drive, enthusiasm, ideas, political views and self made success.
    – Hilton is famous for….well, being famous.

    – Palin can articulate complex issues and discuss them intelligently. She does try to cram too much into each sentence, imo, and it’s a bit inelegant how she articulates things sometimes, but she’s always clear in what she’s stating. The problem is not a lack of intelligence so much as it is she’s trying to communicate too much at one time.
    – Hilton’s most famous statement: “That is sooooo hot!”

    – While both women put themselves into the public spotlight, Palin did so for political reasons while running for higher public office, and seems to have done so out of a sense of purpose and patriotism. Yes, she would have personally benefited had she won, but she seems the type who would always put her country and responsibilities before her own self interests.
-Hilton places herself in the public spotlight simply for self-aggrandizement.

In other words, Palin was saying “look at my ideas”, whereas Hilton was simply saying “look at me”.

Hilton’s celebrity status is based on factors that are a heck of a lot more annoying than any factors surrounding Palin.

  21. Ligneus, I’m with you, on “distraction” part. PS is as significant or as symbolic, of any pet peeves people have [thin women/the rich/promiscuity/ internet-propagated celebrity/silly fashions/whatever] as her yapping dog.
Why that overwhelming need to generalize and to make a “lesson” out of an individual? Let her enjoy her silly doggie-toy, her silly boy-toys, her silly youtube audience – she’s still 10 magnitudes more interesting and clever, in all her excesses, than any baseball or football player-celebrity millions of Americans are worshiping.

    Nice earrings, Paris.

  22. She is not stupid. I have met her, her sister nikki, the parents and two boys.

i try to be subtle on this, but what i see are people who LIKE TO BE PLAYED AND PUNKED so much that they refuse to see entertainment as smoke and mirrors.

that they prefer to see the unreality of things as real over the reality of things.

they went from personal religions, to personal versions of everything, including reality.

obama in “i refuse reality”, is a man who is not a bad man, but can only be explained thorugh incompetence, ignorance, bad luck, chicago way of doing things, etc…

in the “i accept reality” camp, he is a smart person, who knows what they are doing on some level. that is either they know their ideology so much and use that to make choices, or they play at that and they use that to make harmful choices. intent is not something that can be gleaned from afar when ambiguity is around. and having such ambiguity always around is an art in itself

so apply the same to paris.

in the “i refuse reality” camp. she is dumb, too thin, cant understand why things are the way they are with her, etc.

in the “i accept reality”, she is a grand daughter of conrad hilton. went to the best schools (Dwight School, but dropped out as they were not needed!!! i explain why below), was raised at the family table by a man who built a multi billion dollar empire. she has a huge trust fund, but like MOST wealthy children with some taste, they make their own fortunes, which she has done by sculpting a false public image that reflects the image of the internalized female goals of our time.

school is an important thing to those who have no career path. those with moderate amounts of self earned money RARELY teach their children how to do the same, but instead make the safe bet, and put them into schools so that they serve the wealthy to make a living. but hilton is of a different level, she learned differently. she was never taught to become a professional who would serve the wealthy, those people, serve her.

and on why she is so popular.. she is BARBIE… all she did was craft the image of a young girls best childhood freind, and voila, she is the seeming best friend of so many women who deep down want to live that fantasy.

    waht fantasy is that?

well complete security is one component, which leads to safety from others, safety from money, safety from consequences.

and thats the other thing, she uses her money and such to pain an IMAGE that she is free from the consequences of her actions. so she has a safety that feminists have been pushing for a long while (to create abberant behavior)

all paris did was tap into the female zeitgeist and their deep fantasies and then present herself as that since she had the body shape and such for it.

she IS BARBIE writ large. she has the townhouse, she can be anything, she is wealthy, she has many kens and gi joes to choose from, she has seeming freedom from responsibility, she can shop to the tune of 100k a day and not exhaust her wealth..

what i find funny all the time as i get into the arguments and discussions about the entertainment world… is that no one wants to accept that its all fake. they want it so bad to be real, that they refuse to listen to anyone tell them its not. (by the way, a lot of the actors and others dont get the game either till later)

at what point does a person realize that its a business whose money machine is completely based on creating the artificial reality and attractions and gew gaws that you spend on.

remember, in a capitalist society your personal time has value. so even your view and vision and where you spend it has value… even if you cant sum up that value and acquire it, others can.

  23. “…he’s still 10 magnitudes more interesting and clever, in all her excesses, than any baseball or football player-celebrity millions of Americans are worshiping…”

Zero raised to the 10th power is still zero.

  24. Scottie:
I wouldn’t call the feelings being expressed towards Hilton as “anger” so much as annoyance.

Just read through the comments above, sounds like anger to me. Of course they may just be angry people and are unable to comment otherwise.

In lumping PH in with Sarah and Carrie, I was just noting the over the top denigration of three attractive women, whether more or less deserving is not the point, there is a similarity to the responses which seems connected to their attractiveness quotient. [Ha ha, I got to use some jargon!]
I’m a big fan of Sarah by the way.

    Tatyana:
It’s nice to get some back up, sometimes I feel like the odd one out on the blogs, but that’s OK.

  25. PS. In case anyone takes issue with my assertion tha Obama is not a nice person, check this out.

Strange how Chicago gave us the Chicago School of Economics, the best, and the Daley School of Political Corruption, the worst. As usual, the left gets it back to front, excoriating the economics and embracing the corruption.

How did I get here from Paris Hilton?

  26. Artfldgr,

That’s all well and good, and I don’t dispute whether she’s intelligent or not. If you know her personally and can vouch for her intelligence, then you have closer firsthand knowledge than I do.

I will say I find her schtick to be very annoying and generally ignore her when she’s the subject of media attention.

She’s certainly not the type of female I would want my daughter to aspire to be.

Having said that, it’s also generally true that perception is reality, for all practical purposes, in how people operate in society.

Her public image is percieved as a ditzy blonde – an image she has apparently carefully and deliberately crafted.

If that’s the case, she shouldn’t be upset at any annoyance or criticism leveled at that perception.

Regarding the statement “like MOST wealthy children with some taste, they make their own fortunes”, I’d suggest looking into the fortunes of the Kennedy’s for example.

Yes, they started off with a sizable fortune, but over the generations have been burning through it and not generating enough to make up for it for future generations. It will still take a while to evaporate the fortune they were left with, but it seems a process that is well underway.

Another example would be the Vanderbilts, who likewise saw much of the family fortune disappear over ensuing generations.

Not saying either family is destitute, but it certainly runs counter to the argument that offspring make their own fortunes.

Those are just two examples off the top of my head that seem to disprove your assertion.

Simply being the offspring of the ultra wealthy doesn’t mean one will be any smarter with one’s money, and often taste has nothing to do with either intelligence or financial ability.

But it certainly gives them a higher starting point, whether they take advantage of it or not.

  27. ligneus,

There’s an important factor to keep in mind when lumping Palin and Hilton into the same conversation, especially when you mention their appearance.

Hilton specifically cultivates her appearance as part of her public persona. Palin doesn’t.

Palin specifically cultivates her public persona around her ideas and political views. Hilton doesn’t.

It is therefore reasonable to be critical of Hilton’s appearance, and critical of Palin’s political views – but not vice versa.

  28. Paris was trained from infancy to be what she is today by her Mother, who had always desired fame for herself.

  29. Scottie:

I agree with you on Palin but that doesn’t stop things such as:
    “Slutty Flight Attendant look’.

I’m not sure anyone would even think about what PH’s political views might be, the only thing that comes to mind even tangentially connected to such is her humorous response to McCain which I thought was rather good.

  30. Paris Hilton – I never cared much for following her “career” or whatever.

However, the fact that Neo-Neocon has a simple three-sentence post showing a picture of Paris with her dog; and that there are (as of my commenting) TWENTY-FOUR comments about Paris, tells me that Paris is doing something right for her career.

    So, kudos to Paris Hilton!

  31. The Kennedy fortune has been dwindling because nobody in the family has done anything productive to increase or even maintain it after Joe bootlegged and bribed his way to respectability. Investments are supposed to cover that, but if you start eating into your capital, the family fortune can shrink really fast. Politics and nonprofits may have their purposes, but they’re not wealth generators. At least not in our system. Mobutu, Suharto, Saddam, Marcos, Baby Doc, among others, all raked in billions in corrupt funds, but most of the money spent in U.S. politics doesn’t go directly into politicians’ bank accounts. So, after a couple of generations with no entrepreneurs, the trust funds may be getting a bit thin. Perish the thought that a Kennedy might have to earn an honest living somewhere.

  32. *waltj: ah, but she’s not a complete zero; witness the degree of emotions people put in discussing her. She must have achieved success in creating clear image in public eye. If it’s more of a caricature than a straightforward picture – even better. A walking warning, for some, and a model to aspire to – for others.

*ligneus, you can [almost always] count on my backing. Almost.

Scottie: but she’s a very useful and well-crafted example to show your daughter what NOT to be, isn’t she? I wish I could find a male equivalent as perfectly executed as she is for my son when he was growing up.

  33. Tatyana,

I would advise anyone seeking a role model for a child to not look to a single individual as an example.

I would advise instead that they point to the elements of individuals that are admirable as examples to strive for with the understanding that everyone has flaws.

So, you can admire an athelete for their physical prowess and dedication to be the best in their sport, admire the courage of a soldier, admire the creative ability of an artist, and admire the intelligence of a scholar, while at the same time decrying less savory aspects of their personalities.

Beyond that, just have the best male role model you can expose them to on a personal basis in their life.

My own son has mentioned he wants to “be like” me in various ways – and it’s a sobering thought to think this child wants to emulate me as I’m a very imperfect individual.

  34. Weighing in on the Great Paris Hilton Question, I’ll just say I have paid so little attention to her that I have no particular opinion on her intelligence or lack thereof, real or imagined. I put the photo up here because I thought it was amusing, mainly because of the chihuahua as accessory. Without the dog, the photo’s a snooze.

But that’s just me. I’m really not Paris Hilton’s target audience.

But speaking of “weighing in,” I do happen to think the shoulder/collarbone area shows that she is too thin. When that little bone on top of the shoulder sticks up like that, you’re in trouble.

  35. Thanks, Scottie, he’s over that age when kids are in need of a model, male or female. In fact, in his present age I was getting married.

I think your theory of flaws and positives is helpful; still as a parent one needs a negative example. PH is a very useful one, as she combines many qualities one might point out to a kid to NOT emulate. At the same time she posses some that are worthy of acquiring: ability to generate her own vitality, without following lead of others; unabashed confidence in her own taste/worthiness. True, it’s backed by a thick wad of money and not by merit – but the quality itself is a valid goal.

  36. Tatyana,

As negative examples go, I have plenty of relatives I’ve already pointed out to both my kids to NOT emulate…lol.

But back to Hilton, is “unabashed confidence in her own taste/worthiness” really a positive?

I would think some sort of feedback loop would be necessary to keep a personality from becoming totally narcissistic under those circumstance.

    (Consider Obama, for instance)

In other words, everyone needs someone they trust who can tell them on occasion when they cross the line and are being idiots.

I have no idea if Hilton has that kind of feedback loop within her circle of *friends*, and if everyone around you caters to your whims because they don’t want to be outside of your circle then are they really *friends*?

  37. Scottie: yes, absolutely, overconfidence without reality checks leads to narcissism.
I was talking having in mind the other extreme (sadly, very familiar to kids of Jewish, Chinese and Indian emigrants): constant criticizing and negativity coming from parents. In our desire to prepare the child for the life’ battles our overwhelming message to them becomes “You’re not good enough”.

My son had a roommate in college, an Indian kid from the East coast, who for 3 years successfully dodged the questions from his extended (very extended) family regarding his studies. He was admitted, on their insistence, in Engineering school, but without telling them he switched to Sport Administration in second semester. They would’ve killed him if they knew, he said (and I sorta half-believe this exaggeration…I can put myself in their shoes if my own baby presented me with this lemon). But the kid loved it!

  38. Tatyana,

Well, I get what you’re talking about, but can assure you by no means is this limited to the demographics you listed.

On the other hand, we have our celebrity who’s the object of this post.

I am guessing – and that’s all it is, is a guess – that Hilton never really came in for much criticism growing up.

Indulging in more guessing, I’m wondering if because of such a lack of negative feedback for her actions during her formative years that she is comfortable conducting herself in the manner that she does.

Setting aside the wealth aspect, if she were NOT rich, can anyone say they’d be proud of her and her actions if she were their daughter?

  39. if she were NOT rich
I vaguely remember reading interviews with mothers of Britney(sp?) Spears and Ana Nicole Smith – and they were proud of their daughters, regardless of the money they were making…

  40. Scottie,
She is intelligent in a real life way. Maybe Occam or some of the others can explain it, but often when you meat real wealthy people (not the majority of what we believe are wealthy), they have a different view, a more realistic view and they seem not to be held back by their own selves. She is not smart in the sense of a degree in physics, but smart in the sense of how to understand what resources she has, what options she has, and how best to work those options to what she wants to get out of it. most others will judge her from THEIR positions and never ever even have a wit of knowledge that has bearing.

For instance, I have had the argument about buying million dollar art work. many regular people will say, I would never buy that. but they have no reason why the others buy it. they have not been let into the game so to speak so their views are erroneous, and they are left to those views. but the truth is that when you get past a certain amount of wealth, other games come into play, and one of them is, how do you store your wealth.

Wealth and value are not static. So where do you store wealth? The average Joe says: in a bank. But for a person with more than a million to draw from in cash, you need aggregate accounts. That is one account actually juggles amounts in 20 other accounts so that you can keep each accounts amount under 100k, and not lose FDIC protection. Putting it in a pile don’t work, it loses value as they print more. putting it in a bank and leaving it don’t work either for the same reason. Investments are also risk. and so no regular joe knows that all those gew gaws by the wealthy are not necessarily to play with a gew gaw. You buy a Rembrandt, will it go down in value, or up, or hover? Well compared to a stock in a company, it will hold value.

This would be something invisible to the average joe, but once understood, one realizes why all the special items and the art and such. but even that has risks.

“Since art is no longer the food for the best, the artist can use his talent for all the changes and whims of his fantasy. This opens all the roads for his intellectual quackery. The general population does no longer find in art neither solace nor elation. But the snobs, the rich people, the good-for-nothings, and those that want to attract attention to themselves, find in art the strange, the original, the eccentric and the shocking. I have pleased my critics with countless jokes I devised, which they admired the more for the less they understood them. Nowadays I’m not just famous but also rich. But when I’m alone with myself, I can’t consider myself to be an artist in the sublime sense of the term. Great painters were Giotto, Titian, Rembrandt and Goya. I am merely a clown that understood its time and knew how to take advantage of all the stupidity, lechery and vanity of his fellow citizens.” Pablo Piccasso

My father paints like Rembrandt goya and such, but he stopped, since the field was debased. And such debasement creates a wealth sink mine for neveau riche. While today we may try to discuss the fake merits of Piss Christ, I can be pretty sure that in 100 years those with Rembrandts and goyas, and such, will still have value.

I will say I find her schtick to be very annoying and generally ignore her when she’s the subject of media attention.

Really? Well you do know her name don’t you? I can name others with even more annoying shtick, but you know a lot less about them than her. everyone likes to say they are immune to advertising, hypnosis, and that they are smarter than everyone else. but the truth is not that clear when one examines things closely.

Most of the reason anyone would find her shtick annoying is that they believe it. clowns are annoying, even more so if you think they actually live like that and act like that all the time. we can understand putting on a mask for our boss, but cant understand someone in the public eye doing the same?

She’s certainly not the type of female I would want my daughter to aspire to be.

Well, you miss the point. Take a look at most characters in literature. None of them are normal. None of them would really be good examples to live by. Many of them have a good point but glaring bad points that are ignored.

And re-read your sentence, are you referring to the real person or the act? When Dustin Hoffman was in an office, he was introduced to someone who wanted him for a part. and they talked and the guy said, I think your great. You’re the perfect person to be in my work, I just think your personality would fit just right. To which Dustin Hoffman replied, which personality?

He realizes that no one knows HIM. something that others don’t seem to get, even as I try to explain the phrasing doesn’t shift.

She is no more a person to aspire to than bozo the clown is (as a clown, not the person), as Ace Ventura is not a person to emulate, but the actor might be.

Now its easy to see the issue with bozo and ace… they take off their roles when they leave the stage. But NOT ALL PUBLIC FIGURES DO. many of their roles ARE themselves and so they are intertwined with who they are on film. The reverse of this joke is the Nora desmond of carol burnette.

If that’s the case, she shouldn’t be upset at any annoyance or criticism leveled at that perception.

Well, is she REALLY annoyed or annoyed in the way an actor acts annoyed when I take their picture at some private thing? does any one tell the public that their pr people called me and told them where they were, and what to say? No… but if they don’t act annoyed then they are HAMS, no one loves a ham. So they act like they are bothered. They manufacture interest by manufacturing interest. Like the old joke on film when a man leaves a doctors office and has to look up. as he hits the street, everyone looks up. he doesn’t let his head go down, but everyone on the street has to figure out what he is staring at. As more look, more look.

    [edited for length by neo-neocon]

  41. sab,
Paris was trained from infancy to be what she is today by her Mother, who had always desired fame for herself.

have you ever seen her mother? or her father?

they look and dress like the parents of the brady bunch, including the husbands curly hair.

your assertion is untrue… she could have fame any time she wanted… and in fact, not having it when your in those families is a real skill. it takes cultivating such a boring front that no one remembers or pays attention to you.

quite the opposite of your assertion.

  42. In other words, everyone needs someone they trust who can tell them on occasion when they cross the line and are being idiots.

I have no idea if Hilton has that kind of feedback loop within her circle of *friends*

no, she doesnt… but she has her grandfather… he does that for all of them with fear of disowning them. which is why she did her games. that way she has enough money to continue eating $2,500 lunches every day, and can tell the old man to piss off.

  43. another point that everyone fails to see here, is that us little people are inconsequential

i ahve said this before, but it seems that the inconsequential refuse to accept their positio in life.

so they think that their thoughts have consequences, as does their belifs.

want to know the truth? msot of what you think and muse about will never amount to a grain of sand. that most refuse to let go of the view they aer given and construct a real one is legendary, but they also dont see where it puts them.

the left is disfunctional… the upper elite, and the fellow travelers look down on them, and use them. they are the prols who think they are elites cause they parrot the elite whose words actually do make changes (and whose ideas can kill).

if you could step up in front of a troop of monkeys and get their attention, and then get a million dollars a week for that…

who is smarter, the person willing to pretend to be an idiots to get the attention of the monkeys or the monkeys who cant control themselves and not bother with the freak that is freaking for them?

jim carrey acts like a total dofus… he is jumping around cause his antics makes the monkeys happy and when the monjeys are happy and distracted the machine spits money.

now of course everyone here has really high morals and standards of behavior…

but watch them with a baby… the most refined person who cares will debase themselves like a moron in front of a baby or child to get them to reward them with laughter and such.

paris knows that she cant entertain the babies and unrefined by acting refined any more than you refined people could entertain a baby by reading it tolstoy.

    she gets it… you dont.

you are the children, baby, monkeys, etc.. that they have to convince to voluntariliy let go of their money.

while her great grandad had to buy some boats, build a huge company parlay that into lots

all she has to do is act like a doofus in front of the baby, the baby laughs, and she gets lots of money and offers from those who get money making the babies laugh too. there is a whole industry that caters to the babies… (cause they sure arent higher order art!)

the truth is that when someone succeeds in a way that others think lowers the bar, they are seen as cheeting.

when a woman steals a guy by showing more breast, the other women get all pinked out cause they are not willing to show their breasts! so their anger is supposed to set a line of propriety and oprobium. well in our society that line is now verboten, and so the only line is the imaginary one that stops YOU.

the winners dont have imaginary lines. they operate on the lines that exist and limit them now… and if there are no more oppressive lines on the way down, then like picasso said in the quote above, those who are willing as he, as maplethorpe, as saachi, etc.. becaome the new winners by virtue of being rare in their biological limits.

the propriety that many referred to here is not real. especially in a society where taht has been torn down. it amounts to moral momemtum. and all it does is prevent many from succeeding within the framework of the current reality.

paris has the same talent as her granfather. she plays the REAL rules while every one else is still discussing what they may actually be and going back and forth in an endless waste of their time.

  44. Artflgr,

Go back to my earlier post – I specifically stated:

“I will say I find her schtick to be very annoying and generally ignore her when she’s the subject of media attention.”

When I referred to her “schtick” it was pretty clear I meant her public persona – one which is that of a ditzy blonde.

Given the media saturation surrounding this woman it’s pretty hard NOT to pick up bits of information whether you’re interested or not. It’d be like trying to ignore Obama and all the articles constantly flooding the media.

And yes, I do find her “schtick” annoying enough that I generally ignore her for that reason if she shows up in any material I happen to be reading (current post excepted).

I likewise specifically stated the following regarding her intelligence:

“”That’s all well and good, and I don’t dispute whether she’s intelligent or not. If you know her personally and can vouch for her intelligence, then you have closer firsthand knowledge than I do.”

Please note I didn’t say she was stupid.

So, next time try not to jump the gun on your assumptions in your rush to defend Hilton.

As for whether she’s someone that I want my daughter to emulate – I don’t give a damn how much money she has, the answer is still no!

One last item – the art work collections.

While it’s not a difficult concept to understand that you go to greath lengths to explain, you offered this quote:

“I am merely a clown that understood its time and knew how to take advantage of all the stupidity, lechery and vanity of his fellow citizens.”

So, even the very artist being quoted considered his clients as *stupid*, *leches*, and *vain* for buying his work.

I’d say he probably knew them better than you or I would.

  45. and for those who dont know what they look like…

the parents are rick and kathy..

kathy was famous on her own.. she is related to kim richards the actress… she has appeared in bewitched, family affair, happy days and the rockford files.. and had a part as tom cruises wife in tropic thunder.

and remember above when i said that as a couple they remind you as the brady bunch. she was considered for the role. 🙂

here is an image of her
    upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/98/Kathy_Hilton.jpg/220px-Kathy_Hilton.jpg

Rick comes from a large family with the money. his is one of 8 kids… (dynastic family)..

dads fortune is at around 2.3 billion, but rick works

Rick Hilton is currently chairman of Hilton and Hyland, a successful Beverly Hills real estate company that he founded with partner Jeffrey Hyland.[4] Rick Hilton’s net worth is estimated to be valued at around $300 million.[5]

Paris has two brothers, and one sister. the brothers are just coming of age… so it may be interesting in a few years, or you may forget them.

here is an image of nikki.

until paris played image games, you would never recognize them on the street.

  46. Arflgr,

Ok, posted while you were posting so I didn’t pick up those last comments.

So, exactly how high is this podium you’re elevating Hilton on to above us monkeys and babies and irrelevent folk, anyway?

  47. So, next time try not to jump the gun on your assumptions in your rush to defend Hilton.

i am not defending her… i am getting the empirical data straight.

and go read your point, after yo9u said shtick you then commented her as an example to your daughter. thats dissonant..

you want to have a conversation like my three office workers, fine, dont bother me.

but they are not to bright, and they constantly talk about things together that there are real answers for, there are real facts, and such, but they share a kind of commisseration in ignorance that creates their reality.

the minute someone comes in and points out empirical truth to them, they hate that person cause the commisseration was more fun than the validity…

you want to have a conversation based on made up things, asumptions, and more.. thats fine… i just dont participate..

but if your going to have a converstation on facts, then my establishing the facts is not part of the debate but sets the ground for such a debate.

yes, the truth sucks when it gets in the way of a good assumption, but which is what people want?

most of what i hear or read when people talk are people who are inconsistent from sentence to sentence and dont realize it.

each of their ideas hangs separate and are not seen as separeate and suppositioned whole.

so yes you said shtick. which would mean that i should realize that you see it as an act too.

but then the next floating idea contradicts that.. in that you think she would make a bad example.

i necer said she was stupid either, and i used your statements to qualify her intelligence more!!! how did you get to i think you called her stupid from that?

contradictions confuse me as i use language like a scalple while most use it like a blunt hammer.

most are used to working with the blunt tools and assuming they understand. i have problems with that… i see so many solutions to their blunt approach when they see only one, that the given is not given to me.

its why i often have different angles than anyone else.

  48. Artflgr,

I likewise see rapper’s public personas as a “schtick” as well, and put them into about the same catagory as I do Hilton and her “schtick”.

Even though it’s a big put on I likewise don’t want my son using them as a role model or otherwise attempting to act like them, just as I don’t want my daughter emulating Hilton’s public behaviour and antics.

You do a lot of preaching, which I guess is logical since like many fanatics you assume your truth is the only truth.

Your comments characterizing everyone – including your own office workers (btw, why would you hire someone so idiotic since you have such an obviously low opinion of them?) as ignorant are coming off more as ravings than a discussion.

I wonder just how high I can get your blood pressure….?

So, is it really a pedestal or more of an alter you have Hilton up on?

  49. Scottie: I think the Artful Dodger has taken this whole Paris thing way too personally. May be some kin there somewhere.

  50. Your comments characterizing everyone – including your own office workers (btw, why would you hire someone so idiotic since you have such an obviously low opinion of them?) as ignorant are coming off more as ravings than a discussion.

ah.. i didnt hire them. but i do have to hear the one with ocd talk about her self generated relationship issues. along with the other one that likes to hum tunes with her headset on, work on socialist artwork, and mediate bull sessions with some guy who works near them intermittently.

they are modern educated… which means that they cant even sit in their chairs like people who are at work and may be seen. they come in late, leave when they think the boss aint lookin… then pretend to tie in and work from home.

the other section of their time is on texting both online and on blackberries. but they bring what ever je nai se something that the feminists say they bring and tout but never explain.

I wonder just how high I can get your blood pressure….?

not very, remember when i said that most of our thoughts are actually inconsequential, i never excluded myself. so why should i have inconsequential thoughts about your inconsequential thoughts and let them upset me in reality? silly….
