I admired Fred, his erudition, his patience with the less-knowledgeable and talented, and his occasional spark of humor. He is one of the commenters I have become aware of on-line that I would have enjoyed kicking back with over a cold beer. He will be missed, too young to go so maybe God needed a really good Jesuit right now. My deepest condolences to his family. I’m so very sorry to hear this news.
