Let’s hear it… — 12 Comments

  1. Not only was it recently proposed to actually possess a critical function, but scientists now find it appears in nature a lot more often than before thought.

Won’t be long before guys are wanting their non-government-approved foreskin back….

  2. I used to tease my kids that if they ever got appendicitis it could be because their appendix might be full of fingernails from their biting habits.

  3. i will send you somethig that will amaze… its a reformation of the origin of mutlicellular creatures i am writing to lead up to some new math on the convergence and compressing within genomic systems…

no wonder i have no one to talk to. 🙁

  4. When I first saw this I thought it was about the poor British bloke whose appendix was taken out by NHS surgeons. Four weeks later he collapsed with a burst appendix and had to be taken back to the hospital to have it removed. So far no one knows what they took out the first time. See the link on Drudge for the story. Don’t worry, though. Obama says you can keep your insurance and doctors if you like them. He also said he never heard Rev. Wright say anything in twenty years. Trust him.

  5. From the article NEO linked to

” Now that scientists are uncovering the normal function of the appendix, Parker notes a critical question to ask is whether anything can be done to prevent appendicitis. He suggests it might be possible to devise ways to incite our immune systems today in much the same manner that they were challenged back in the Stone Age.

“If modern medicine could figure out a way to do that, we would see far fewer cases of allergies, autoimmune disease, and appendicitis,” Parker said. ”

well, I often eat berries, grapes, tomatoes and peaches straight from the tree/bush/vine without washing them. Does that count? A few weeks ago, when the peaches were coming in, I would often find ones that had been attacked badly by bugs, turn it around to a side that was relatively un marred- and take a few bites. Now if it looked like a bird or a bat had taken a bite out- I generally avoided those.

but I guess I could be carring around a parasite or two…..

  6. So, we have had good news about tonsils and appendix in the last year. Glad I still have both!!!

  7. From the medical standpoint, I am underwhelmed.
And anyone who advocates, even tangentially, a Rousseauvian return to biologically simpler times, has earned a fecolith.
