Obama, disingenuous? Say it isn’t so

Here’s a little coda from Britain about the release of the Lockerbie bomber. The Brown government claims that Obama and Clinton had full knowledge of what Scotland was about to do re Al Megrahi and voiced no objection until the resultant storm broke in this country over the news of Al Megrahi’s release and triumphant arrival in Libya:

British officials claim Mr Obama and Mrs Clinton were kept informed at all stages of discussions concerning Megrahi’s return.

The officials say the Americans spoke out because they were taken aback by the row over Megrahi’s release, not because they did not know it was about to happen.

‘The US was kept fully in touch about everything that was going on with regard to Britain’s discussions with Libya in recent years and about Megrahi,’ said the Whitehall aide.

‘We would never do anything about Lockerbie without discussing it with the US. It is disingenuous of them to act as though Megrahi’s return was out of the blue.

Disingenuous, Obama and Hillary? Hard to believe, isn’t it? Of course, it’s possible that it’s Whitehall that’s being disingenuous here. There’s plenty of disingenuousness to go around.

  1. Mr. Frank Says:

Obama may have a golden throat, but he seems to have a tin ear. It’s surprising that Hillary didn’t see the flap coming. Maybe being First Lady isn’t the great preparation for leadership she claimed.

  2. MikeLL Says:

Brown is probably still upset that he can’t watch the NTSC DVD’s that Obama gave him.

  3. huxley Says:

It will take longer for these foreign policy choices and lies to catch up with Obama.

But taken together I believe they will.

At some point, especially when something important is derailed or blows up, Americans will start to assess how little has gone well in foreign policy for America under Obama’s leadership.

Americans may decide that they do not like 3-D chess.

  4. ELC Says:

Perhaps I am mistaken, but wasn’t this all pawned off as a “compassionate release” on authority of the Scottish government? And it turns out the British government demanded the release to seal an oil deal? So, isn’t it disingenuous of them to call others’ behavior disingenuous?

    Or am I missing something?

  5. huxley Says:

ELC: No. It’s just rotten top to bottom and east to west.

Anyone want to bet against Al Megrahi living longer than three months?

  6. sartana Says:

I can’t believe this isn’t a bigger story right now. I just checked and it’s not even up at Drudge or Ace of Spades.

If the British stick to this story, I don’t see how this doesn’t become a major diplomatic dust-up. Republicans in Congress should be howling for a Congressional investigation- although I’ve come not to expect much from this current herd of swine we have representing us.

I don’t see how Obama survives this. The Lockerbie familes will be all over him like a pack of hungry wolves.

Gateway Pundit has the story here with video of Hillary and others feigning outrage in the aftermath of Megrahi’s release.

Hey, Obama just threw a brother under the bus. What’s a couple of white Europeans?

    sartana – “I can’t believe this isn’t a bigger story right now.”

Doesn’t it seem we’ve been saying that a lot since about 1991? Gee, don’t I wish I could figure out why that is.

Not your error, sartana. You were being reasonable, which can lead you astray with this crew.

When it is Hitler vs Stalin, who knows who is telling the truth.
