New Year’s resolve
Well, I broke my first New Year’s resolution of 2010 before I even got out of bed today. The idea was to keep more reasonable hours. How about you? Any resolves, broken or un?
As far as kissing the decade of the twenty-oughts goodbye, I might want to say “good riddance” to a decade that began for me with the very painful aftermath of a surgery, segued right into the breakup of my marriage (shortly after my twenty-fifth wedding anniversary), and featured 9/11, various wars, and the election of President Obama. On the other hand, I’ve been blessed by the fact that I finally did recover from that surgery, had some fun in the aftermath of that breakup, and of course (of course!) entered the blogosphere with all its many pleasures and rewards.
Here’s to the twenty-teens!
Well the decade was indeed fraught with perils. Sorry for your personal ones. Just wanted to say I’m awfully glad you’re out there in the blogospere. You definitely fill a very meaningful role in my personal effort to get a truthful picture of the political landscape of the world we live in. Thanks so much!
Happy New Year, Neo. I’ll give you an earworm to think about for next year’s post: It’s Getting Better. I hope we will have some reasons to rewrite the lyrics.
What a joy reading your blog, though I don’t comment often. Here’s to a blessed and prosperous New Year and the ongoing wonder of seeing our scars turned to stars.
Cheers!
May you have a very happy, healthy and blessed New Year, Neo.
And many many thanks for this wonderful blog.
Jim
Neo, glad that you’re here.Bravo for your excellent writing and your thought-provoking comments section.I check everyday.Blesssings in the New year to you.
I never make resolutions, New Year’s or otherwise. I just live my life and try to be responsible, reliable, resilient, responsive, and respectful. I fail at these at times, but keep on keepin’ on.
Yeah. Don’t say Good riddance!” Don’t. A few years from now we might be calling it a Golden Age.
Neo,
After reading how your past decade was I can only say I’m glad you survived it and remind you of an old saying:
What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger – maybe scarred and maimed, but stronger!
On a lighter note, I hate to suggest it (especially considering how much you went through over the past decade) but aren’t we still in the same decade?
I thought the new decade didn’t start until January 1, 2011….
Regardless of whether the decade is in fact over or not, I truly hope 2010 is kind and generous to you!
😀
Scottie: thanks. And yes, I sometimes get pedantic and nitpicky about when the decade (or millenium) begins, but I’ve learned to go with the flow and the more intuitive (although probably less correct) answer, because I’m tired of being called nitpicky and pedantic.
neo,
LOL….I’m still quite “pedantic and nitpicky” – about a number of things.
I’ve also been called much worse than “pedantic and nitpicky”…..
😉
Hey Neo, you forgot to mention the Sanity Squad. It was an excellent podcast which I still miss.
You could be called pedagogical, you may be refered to as ruminating and reflective — but you are for certain, a place I visit often. I’m a male, married for 35 years and is the same weight as in 94′. But who cares about that kind of thing, I like what you say. Continue on. Thanks for your honesty.
