Obama reaches… — 29 Comments

  1. Be very suspicious of Obama’s support of pay-as-you-go especially in light of Tony Blankley’s comment above.

It sounds like fiscal responsibility (we can only spend what we take in), but the other side of this coin is that the programs (spending) are already in place; we must now raise taxes to cover these existing programs. Note that spending cuts to match existing revenues are always out of the question; raising revenue to cover existing spending is never out of the question.

Think about this in light of Obama’s spending freeze deception. We’ll raise spending to unheard of heights then freeze spending at that level. Freezing spending makes the administration look fiscally prudent. Now in several years, when revenues can no longer support this increased spending, pay-go will require tax increases.

It’s s nefarious way to take something meant to establish fiscal responsibility and morph it into the same Democrat spend now-pay later approach to govt that has existed for the last 75 years.

  2. paragraph 2 “raising revenue” should be “raising TAXES to cover exisitng spending. . .”

    sorry!

  3. Then again, talking like a fiscal conservative is how he got elected a year and a half ago.

What we really need is a media that will drill into Obama relentlessly, so his bland “We’ve always been at war with East Asia” assertions are challenged against what he said five minutes, five months or five years ago.

  4. “Hey, Paolo! He broke the President!”

    — Firesign Theater, “I Think We’re All Bozos on This Bus”

  5. Could this be the meltdown watch?

As near as I can tell, Obama’s last chance to assert the Obama 1.0 version of his presidency is the ballyhooed bipartisan healthcare summit in a couple weeks.

If that turns up to be a gimmick that goes nowhere, he’s got nothing, and no prospects that I can see.

Then he either reinvents himself somehow — and I have my doubts that he can — or he goes sideways, lame duck fashion, for the next three years, and God help us if we need a president.

  6. What a pity that presidents (or even candidates) are not required to pass a serious psychiatric evaluation. The whole crews of nuclear submarines, civil airliners pilots and thousand others are required, but the only person who CAN launch all the rockets – doesn’t!

  7. Neo, the link is to a Wiki page on dissociation. Where is the link to what ∅bama said to merit that connection?

  8. Gringo: it’s not a link, it’s the video itself.

The accusation of dissociation is somewhat of a joke; I don’t believe Obama has that profound a level of disconnect. But from what he says in the video, he seems to be at least somewhat severed from his own previous actions and identity as president.

  9. He is a liar, a pathological liar, who thinks that he can get away with lying, because, up until now, no one has ever called him out.

A good con man always believes his con, even though he knows its a con.

  10. Having worked for some years in the field of rehabilitation for persons with chronic and severe mental illnesses, I don’t think NoBama is a psychopath. I would characterize him more as a sociopath with narcissistic tendencies. He lies without hesitation and he will say or do anything it takes to make himself what he thinks you want him to be. And he can make such jumps because he has no conscience or empathy. Nor does he ever feel guilt or, for that matter, any other emotion because sociopaths basically have no emotions and cannot understand them in others. Thus, they try to mimic emotions. The danger of NoBama is that a sociopath, when finally cornered or scorned, can quite quickly slip into psychopathic actions. THEN you got a problem.

  11. Everyone off camera was probably flinching as he said that, afraid that the lightning bolt might get them too by mistake.

  12. No need to use complicated psychological concepts.
This is White Collar BS, pure and simple.

If you can’t dazzle them with your brilliance, baffle them with BS. I all fails, yell at them and get personal.

    Lawyers’ stuff …

  13. This is like happening upon a speech of Hitler declaring “And we have to keep a close eye on those who seek dictatorial power and have no empathy for the jews”.

    Unbelievable.

  14. I never thought Orwell was real. Now I see it or hear it everyday. It’s one of the worst feelings ever.

  15. Notice that he did the same thing in his SOTU address, first he described his behavior for the last year by accusing others of it then he denounced it.
I am not a psychologist but two observations are immediately apparent, 1) as stated above he has no morals if he is aware of what he is doing and if not he is a genuine nut, or dissociative, and 2) IT SEEMS TO BE WORKING.
Have anyone heard of any MSM complaints? The electorate is too concerned with football and desperate housewives to be concerned the the man with the finger on the button is nuts. A significant portion of the public still wants a messiah and will deny the evidence of their senses in order to get one.
Tragically democracies get the governments they deserve.

  16. Its like words mean more than actions to too many Americans. Isn’t this why battered wives stay in horrible marriages?

  18. Huxley,

LOL! Thanks for the Firesign Theater memory! Makes me think of All Hail, Marx and Lennon!, with photos of Groucho and John on the cover. I’ve probably said, “He’s no fun, he fell right over” about a thousand times over the years. No one ever gets it, of course. Maybe we can start saying it about Obama pretty soon. 🙂

  19. betsybounds: Glad to meet a fellow ah … clem!

Except old college friends, almost no one gets my Firesign Theater references either. Which is a shame. Firesign’s got a lot to offer.

    See you on the funway!

  20. “Psychopath” and “Sociopath” are two words used to describe the same concept: ASPD. I don’t know if Obama’s a psychopath. I think he is a true believer in his approach, which is not in keeping with current reality. I also think he’s a malignant narcissist.

But I do think he has actual emotions towards his family, for example. What he is is a radical Leftist.
