Obama’s ass-kicking inspiration? — 18 Comments

  1. Hello Neoneocon and thanks! BTW, the second performer is Stephen Fry, a man with 190 IQ or so, which makes it even funnier to see him in this role.

  2. Theres just more authority when a southern accent says ASS as a three sylable word. Lol

  3. This song has long come to mind when I see the democrat’s actions these last few years. Its an American trait to be a forward reaching and forward thinking country, but when we don’t have a united vision, one part of our people turn on the rest.

  4. I hope everyone realizes that these two were also the stars of the British series, “Jeeves & Wooster,” which was shown in this country on PBS’s “Masterpiece Theatre.” Laurie was Wooster, and foppish rich playboy and Fry was Jeeves, his butler. Very funny show, and I liked Laurie much better in that one than “House,” which I can’t get into.

  5. Hugh Laurie and Monty Python can be uttered in the same breath. I am old enough to say so. Thanks, Ace, for the link to this one. The only ones not laughing are, of course, Democrats and their receipt holding contributors.

  6. This story indicates the U.S. Government has joined BP in kicking the ass of reporters who really want to to cover the Gulf spill — instead of just showing up for the press conference..

The headline should more fairly read, “Efforts by BP and the U.S. Government to Limit Flow of Spill News”.

An investigative piece that originaly appeared on the “front page” of the Times website…but only for a while. Now one has to search for it.

  7. Capn Eddie Ricketyback, Jeeves was Bertie Wooster’s valet or gentleman’s gentleman, not a butler.

  8. Aside from the occasional bit of badly informed snark about Americans, Fry’s quiz show QI is quite good.

  9. Look! This guy–Mr. spiritually evolved, higher being, “lightworker,” is just a feckless, boastful punk with a big mouth, and the sorriest excuse for a President that I have ever seen.

I guess old Jimmy Peanut is real glad the lightworker came along to displace him at the top of the list as this century’s worst President.

  10. Wolla Dalbo concluded:

“I guess old Jimmy Peanut is real glad the lightworker came along to displace him at the top of the list as this century’s worst President.”

    MISCELLANEOUS POINT OF INFORMATION

Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama served as U.S. President in two different centuries. (It would then follow, would it not, that each is eligible for top-of-list-dom in his own century!)

  11. “There Ain’t But One Way:Kicking Ass” with lyrics like “Iron foot in a velvet shoe. We don’t care who’s ass we kick, if we’re ever all alone, we just stand in front of the mirror and try and kick our own” certainly indicates this is making fun of America’s propensity to want to “kick ass” no matter what the problem is, and what we do in the world and to ourselves. This is making fun of us, whether it is a Democrat or Republican running the show.

  12. Sam,
Iron foot in a velvet shoe is a side swipe at communism “iron fist in a velvet glove”.

it was originally an iron hand in a velvet glove and used by charles V…

however its more recognized as part of communism, and particularly stalin.. who also made similar references as in

“You cannot make a revolution with silk gloves.”

its the origin of the fist hand symbol you see that black nationalists use, and other “liberation” groups hold up.

    Postmodern Stalinism

On the first day, I saw a man I had met years before in the offices of Nikolai Yezhov, commissar of the secret police during the Great Terror. We had been discussing my interest in publishing a book on the cultural politics of the Soviet government. At the time, I had wondered how such a charming, urbane, handsome, and intelligent man could be working for the security services, and now I asked what his interest was in the conference. He told me he had come simply to listen and observe. He was interested in the subject; Stalin was not a monster, but the subject was complex. There was no iron fist. Not even a velvet glove. But the fact of his presence–and that of other government representatives–at an essentially academic international conference reinforced the unspoken message of the raid in St. Petersburg: The government remains watchful, and the depiction of Stalin remains a question of the highest importance.

if you look at certain comedy groups in the UK you will find that they have been making constant commentary in obtuse ways people tend not to get in ignorance of history.

Monte Python being one of the biggest to do this and have most not ‘get it’. see george carlins last concert and you can see he is completely frustrated that they get his joke, but not the message in it.

the spam spam spam thing is about statism… you can have whatever you want as long as the state is involved, and no matter how small or how far the item is from the state, there is always a bit of state in it.

[this was way pre spam email.. and remember, spam was the pork canned meal of the military state]

do a search on “iron fist” alone, and look at images. you will see that all the groups that seem different but have the same undergirding will use similar symbolism… so you can find the fist symbol among islamics, nationalists, communists, trotskites, liberals, progressives, etc.

search on velvet glove separately the same way, and you see the same symbol bing used.

its a way that people can move from group to group and be cleansed from where they were to where they are now… and never leave the cause.

  13. Artfldger,” Iron foot in a velvet shoe is a side swipe at communism, iron fist in a velvet glove”

“Iron fist in a velvet glove” or “iron foot in velvet shoe”, the song is about the U.S being the police all over the world because “we don’t care who’s ass we kick”, and kicking ass, because “there ain’t but one way”, America’s way because we won’t “take second best”. All of the lyrics are on line to read.Thank you for the information, knew the symbol of the iron fist, but not the extent.
