Gibbs: leftist Obama critics should pipe down...

…and stop asking for too much change too fast. After all, we’re dancing as fast as we can.

Obama spokesman Gibbs criticizes the left for criticizing Obama too much for not doing enough.

And not just the left, either: the “professional left,” which is not too happy with Gibbs’s statement. Gibbs has tried to staunch the bleating on the left in reaction what he now calls his “inartful” comments, which he now explains were merely a call for unity:

Democrats, [Gibbs said], “me included,” need to “stop fighting each other and arguing about our differences on certain policies, and instead work together to make sure everyone knows what is at stake because we’ve come too far to turn back now.”

And if Democrats continue to hold Congress in 2010, you can be sure they’ll go farther. Quite a bit farther. And there may be no turning back.

Noteworthy is the “professional left’s” (MSM) criticisms of Obama and his Democrat Congress;

“substantive objections to their policies: that they’ve done so little about crisis-level unemployment, foreclosures and widespread economic misery. Or because of the White House’s apparently endless devotion to Wall Street.

Or because the President has escalated a miserable, pointless and unwinnable war that is entering its ninth year.

Or because he has claimed the power to imprison people for life with no charges and to assassinate American citizens without due process, intensified the secrecy weapons and immunity instruments abused by his predecessor, and found all new ways of denying habeas corpus.

Or because he granted full-scale legal immunity to those who committed serious crimes in the last administration.

Or because he’s failed to fulfill — or affirmatively broken — promises ranging from transparency to gay rights.”

Disagreement with many of those criticisms, such as the Afghan war, issues like imprisoning accused foreign terrorists for life, assassinating treasonous American citizens who’ve fled prosecution, military trials and the Patriot Act and the volatile firestorm that prosecuting the last administration’s “serious crimes” would bring doesn’t change their validity within the context of liberal memes.

In fact, Greenwald at Salon, by his own admission is agreeing that Obama and the Democrat Congress are responsible;

“It’s often forgotten or obscured, but the central political fact now is that the Democratic Party controls everything in Washington — from the branches of government to favors doled out to lobbyists to the policies that Congress and the President enact.

Wars that are fought and bills that are or are not passed and policies that are maintained are, by definition, Democratic actions.

The dreaded Right can’t dictate or stop anything.

That’s the burden of having massive majorities in all areas — everything that happens is the result of what the Democratic Party does…It’s the Democrats who have won the last two elections by large margins and wield all the power…“
