Surest sign of the decline of the West… — 38 Comments

  1. gcotharn: well, take comfort in the fact that it’s hard to diet. Maybe she’ll fail at it.

  2. Considering also that for a role she was wearing a mass of “tightening” contraptions that in an interview she said took her an hour to put on before every shoot (or more…don’t remember exactly) – she does need to loose some.

Maybe to displeasure of fans but for her own health sake.

On the other hand, actresses usually go on a diet when they have particular future role in mind…so let’s hope we’ll see the new screen incarnation of Christina soon.

  3. Not to mention that I’ve never known an actress who didn’t want to be known for her personality and performance skills rather than her appearance.

I love Christina’s physique, but I can easily see her getting tired of having that be all anyone wants to talk to her about.

  4. My girlfriend is curvy like her and I love every part of her. She also “diets” but i don’t lose sleep that she will lose those lines I love so well.

  5. Cleavage-free or not, there is no such thing as a “sedate” photograph of Christina Hendricks.

  6. Isn’t making a big deal of when someone wants to go on a diet (because people are focusing too much on her weight) just as bad as making a big deal when a starlet gains some weight?

Christina Hendricks is really talented, but it’s true that people really do refer to her as “the curvy Christina Hendricks.” I would get frustrated with that, wouldn’t you?

  7. Dieting for her health? Even with some of the estimates I just found on the web, I don’t think she needs to worry about her health.

She was reported as interpreting the ‘curvy’ remarks to mean ‘fat’.

    Absolutely ridiculous…

  8. Gents, if you want to see voluptuous females on the tube, you need to contact the TV people and let them know.

    Thatisall….

PS: Us other curvy females would appreciate it, too!

  9. In the season finale this past week, Joan was on the phone with her husband (who is serving in the military overseas). He makes reference to her pregnancy, and she replies, “yes, they’re bigger.”

As if that were even possible!

I thought Hendricks was a very good sport to read that line…

  10. Yet another instance of perfectly attractive women caring way too much about her looks while simultaneously resenting men taking too little interest in other than her good looks and an industry that demands too much in the way of her good looks.

Must be tough being a beautiful woman – surprised so many women aspire to it.

  11. Her mom used to work down the hall from me. Although Christina is naturally blonde, and dyes her hair red, Mom is copper all the way…

  12. Gents, if you want to see voluptuous females on the tube, you need to contact the TV people and let them know.

[the following sarcasm is not directed at Beverly… its just an opportunity to point out how we fall back on things that really don’t work anymore thanks to pc/ideology, despite we are told that they do and that we have that power not realizing that for some of us we used to]

You think that will take away the emaciated ones?

    NO WAY!!!

Helpless people with no power or ability unless through a certain group (so the group tells them), control the purse strings and now actually make more money (and have less unemployment), and so are the reason why programming has gone from things like the Big Sleep, into basically bizarre situations to try desperately to get womens attention.

there is absolutely no way to attract the men without offending the megalomaniac mad morons making Madison move… (by basically telling them what to do in the magazines that they own)

    ie…
You either get sexy gay competent men
, always capable/smart women who somehow can take on a man twice their size, moderately smart male teenagers if no woman is in the scene, smarter cooler male teen if he is bi or gay, lobotomized infantile heterosexuals/dads, and perfect mates who happen to be dead. (actually its more complicated than this, as there are also race rules)

whose idea of the future does that dovetail with, or rather the changes they imagine that will make in the population?

How did they get power to dictate that?
[to the point we whine about new movies all the time… heck, the stories now have to all have the same ideological messages in them, so they suck]

the way the argument and everything is framed (by them now), its a freaking race to the bottom…

Its mens fault that women ‘have’ to wear heels (i do know you nkow better, this is for GenConsumption, and its one perinnial issue out of a whole garden of them i have listened to every year for decades), and if what?

whats the silent part of these arguments?

and if men didn’t select women who wore them over women that didn’t (pigs), we would not be oppressed by their ‘violent stare’, and be forced to compete this way… (forgetting that some women like it)

have you noticed that the more the men try not to look, or be influenced, the more freaky and extreme towards the bottom those women get, and what they are willing to wear to work?

the more they turn a blind eye to things the more you may see that they feel women are stupid because women dont call them on this crazy stuff that makes a farce out of it all.

have you noticed the GQ Glee (pederastic, not pedophilic) images?

Will this get heterosexual males to tune in to glee and buy the products that they present? or will it get 12 year olds to wear thigh highs, fetish heels, and normalize being a sex toy as part of the high school experience (not college).

its ok to turn children into natural porn stars that act out some modern fetished version of Margaret mead’s Samoa lies… no?

but its not ok for heterosexual men to look at them

these schizos have made society quite schizo.
men have no pull, and us asking the stations to put women on we like, and stuff we like would be met with derision… the square filing cabinet on the floor, and maybe even a column painting these sex crazed chauvinists making requests as sexists.

we (men) aint driving any more, no matter what they tell ya to get you to work harder to consolidate more power for them…

which is why we (men) are pretty much bailing (if you havent noticed)… why call a station to plead with them when you have spent your whole life watching them insult you, belittle you, lie to you, inflate ideology which says its against you, etc…

better to go back to the nintendo and just not bother…

    which reminds me… 🙂

  13. In keeping with the Mad Man period, all I’ll say is ‘hubba-hubba!’

She needs to understand the power she wields is directly in proportion to her curve index. Losing those lovely lines relegates her to the chorus, no different from the rest.

  14. Tatyana, this isn’t my site to defend, but your 5:11 comment was unprovoked, nasty, and completely uncalled-for.

  15. I’ll just watch her Firefly episodes where she’s all naked and articulate. The naked is more imagination but the articulate is very nice.

  16. Neo, that’s right…dare I say, on the nose.

I could understand the attraction to engineer if I knew I could show off some sort of super-power for the pain. (For example, I’d love to be able to fly without going through a pat-down.)

In Christina’s case, I recommend she hang with a new crowd that will love her for who she is, thought that might be hard to find at her current address.

Personally, I prefer to wallow in my uniqueness. Vive la différence!

  17. What a simply divine outfit and she kills it! How nice if those fashions come back in style instead of what we have now.

  18. Diets do not work. Nobody can avoid slipping on them, because organism demands its due. If you want to loose weight, just eat less. May be, not every day, but as a rule. There is no way around this. Lent is a good pretext to practice self-restraint, and we all need more of it than we usually do.

  19. I fear the $2 pistol has gone the way of the 5 cent cigar. Women who are voluptuous and not merely fat are also rare.

  20. That’s a good point. I haven’t seen a voluptuous non-fat woman in a long time. Why is this so?

  21. “Yet another instance of perfectly attractive women caring way too much about her looks while simultaneously resenting men taking too little interest in other than her good looks and an industry that demands too much in the way of her good looks.”

Well, Ms. H. wouldn’t be the first woman — or the first person — to resent the fact that a job she really loves requires her to pay undue attention to something less important than her ability to actually do said job.

But resenting aspects of your career or vocation is pretty universal, and most of us choose to endure or cooperate with the annoying bits nonetheless. Very few of us are lucky enough to find *perfect* careers.

  22. I hope the best for Ms. Hendricks, and hope she diets sensibly.

I’m sure she’ll look lovely regardless.
