Weiner: going, going…

…going, but not gone.

But soon. Very soon.

  1. Shouting Thomas Says:

You can look at this a lot of ways…

    But, this guy deliberately self-destructed.

He had everything going… money, power, fame, a beautiful wife and a baby on the way.

And, he flushed himself down the toilet.

Why, oh why? For a little bit of floozy action?

    He wasn’t happy with success.

  2. texexec Says:

Well…I was wrong about him being able to survive…I thought he would.

I hadn’t anticipated that the Dems leadership would come down so hard on him.

I still think that he would keep his seat if it only depended on his constituents. I base that on polls that have been taken.

  3. I R A Darth Aggie Says:

Maybe he can become the pitch man for ED drugs…

  4. Shouting Thomas Says:

    So neo-neocon…

I think I’m right. This guy deliberately self-destructed.

Got any shrink ideas about why?

  5. SteveH Says:

I’m glad i’m not a democrat name Weinerrrr
That is not what i would like to beeeee
Cause if i were a democrat named Weinerrrr
Everyone could download my pee peeeeee..

  6. vanderleun Says:

    SteveH,
In a just world you would now be taken out and shot.

  7. gs Says:

It’ll be interesting to see where he lands.

I speculate that negotiating his next job was part of the delay in resigning. There’s room for him in the Left’s ecosystem. Teaching at CCNY, perhaps, or an executive position with an astroturf organization.

  8. neo-neocon Says:

Shouting Thomas: just a guess—compulsion (as in OCD)? He was a very driven person, very intense. Was he self-destructive? That I cannot say, either. But he certainly showed a recklessness that is hard to understand in any other way, and that also bespeaks of a compulsive quality to the behavior.

  9. Parker Says:

    texexec,

I was of the same opinion. I thought he would tuck his tail for a while, ride out the news cycle, and then return a ‘reformed’ man.

  10. RandomThoughts Says:

Weiner had been sexting women for quite awhile. I think that there was much more soon to surface (including communication with underage girls) and the only way for him to get out of the mess was to leave office. He probably would not have left though (given his narcissism and habitual lying) were it not for the increasing pressure from his own party.

If Weiner hadn’t become such a horrible poster boy for the Democrat Party, I doubt they would have pushed him out. As it was, he had become a liability they really can not afford.

  11. Sergey Says:

“Compulsive” means some force from unconscience strong enough to be beyond control. Obsession or, in stronger terms, demonic possession. All such impulses are self-destructive, a somewhat mild form of suicide.

  12. Sgt. Mom Says:

Steve H – Funniest comment about the Wiener resignation I saw today was, “Wankee go home!”

I can’t remember where I saw it, though.

  13. Marine's Mom Says:

“Continue to heal from the damage I have caused”? What a jerk. Even now, it is all about him.

  14. Roy Says:

The funniest comment I’ve seen so far speculates that Wiener resigns the house but then runs for president in 2012. He chooses Eric Holder as his running mate.

    The bumper stickers read:

    Wiener-Holder 2012

  15. Curtis Says:

Marine Mom, you should email Weiner that photo of the “eye on the beach” thing with some sort of caption like “What it’s like to be deflated.”

  16. J.J. formerly Jimmy J. Says:

I was wrong about it also. I thought the dems would go to bat for him, and he could ride it out.

His obsession with his fitness and the ripped look he has may indicate use of supplements that make him aggressive and horny. Add to that someone who, because of his name, may have been picked on as a child, which led him to want to be a he man who could attract the chicks. That kind of combo could make a grown man so obsessive he would do stupid, self-destructive things. Just a guess.
