Since “generic Republican” has been doing so well against Obama, can we just skip the Republican convention and say the nominee will be “a player to be named later?”

Off topic: check Drudge. He has an article that John Lennon became a closet Reagan Republican in his last years.

Dear Rasmussen,
Would it be so hard to give “likely voters”.
We’d see a landslide.

Same ole same ole.
Cities cut firefighters.
States cut education.
Federal government cuts food safety.
Can we just have a responsible budget Mr. President without all the hyperbole?
Spending should not be over 20% of the GDP.
PERIOD!

Palin.
Only real option. She’s in Iowa. Movie premiere. My guess is she announces in August.

Right now the Democrat tag for the Republican Candidate would be, “Person of Interest.”

What the poll really means is moderates and independents want a pro America candidate that the media can’t easily make them second guess and hate.

Once “generic Republican” has a name, a face, and a track record, the powers that be will fire up their trusty smear machines. Then we’ll see how well “generic Republican” fares against The One.
And, oh yes: if the name/face/record turns out to be reasonably clean and sound, they’ll simply make stuff up — for that is what they ^do^.

Of the announced GOP candidates right now Bachmann is my first choice. But I am willing to change my mind. The only thing I am certain of is that I will enthusiastically support whichever Republican wins the nomination, no matter what. I hope those polls are indicative of the same intent.

Good idea. But then I would say that, since I beat you to it.
(No, I don’t think that you borrowed it from me. But I do think you would benefit if you read my site from time to time.)

Man has painted himself into a corner. All over the world. There are no easy answers. That is why the unidentified generic candidates fare well: they don’t speak and therefore reveal either truth or nonsense. This is why Obama hasn’t submitted a budget and why he is riding the crazy horse and playing golf. But not to speak carries penalties as well.
It is not a great time to be a politician. Most have given up and merely seek to create their golden parachute. There are a few and I love to hear them but all the welfare children and social malcontents don’t.
