You know Obama’s in trouble when… — 26 Comments

  1. All kvetching doesn’t quite rise to ‘tell all’. Here’s hoping it gets the snowball rolling though.

  2. 1. By my quick count, the word ‘felt’ appears in that short piece five distinct times (not counting duplicated appearances); ‘feel’, twice. Governing the USA is not about your feeeeelings.

That said, I wonder if Obama is a poor manager, or if the unhappy women were hired out of political/affirmative-action considerations, or both.

    2. I guess the “Three Strong Women” who prevailed in infighting and persuaded Obama to intervene in Libya don’t fit the narrative.

    3. How long before the pop psych starts that Obama is acting out anger toward his female relatives (mother, grandmother, and spouse)?

  3. Anyone who has been watching the success rates of Affirmative Action beneficiaries over the last few decades can argue that the identity-group that has had the largest, most munificent benefits of over-rapid promotion is not the group in which Obama is commonly placed. And these others just keep on kvetching, which is no surprise.

  4. That’s nothing. I’m waiting for the books that tell how the young male staffers felt Lewinskized.

  5. The tell-all book that will never be written is the story of how the shebang was managed by Obama’s handlers — they who placed the turtle on the post.

  6. Anita Dunn is quoted.in the article.

This place would be in court for a hostile workplace,” former White House communications director Anita Dunn is quoted as saying. “Because it actually fit all of the classic legal requirements for a genuinely hostile workplace to women.”

As one of her “favorite political philosphers” once said, Anita Dunn could also say to the POTUS.

I voted for you during your last election.

.Remeber that Mr. Obama. A lot of people are saying that, but not I.

Anita Dunn might think that the POTUS has forgotten what Chairman Mao once wrote.

Women hold up half the sky….Enable every woman who can work to take her place on the labour front, under the principle of equal pay for equal work.

Anita Dunn might want to remind the POTUS of some other statements from the Great Helmsman.

Genuine equality between the sexes can only be realized in the process of the socialist transformation of society as a whole.

Would Anita Dunn believe that the lack of socialist transformation is the reason for the ill treatment of women in the White House? :

As I never bothered to read the Chairman Mao writings I purchased decades ago, I do not know to whom the Chairman was referring when he wrote the following.

Swollen in head, weak in legs, sharp in tongue but empty in belly.

But to me it sounds like Obama. Swollen in head- an overly high opinion of oneself. Sounds like the POTUS. Weak in legs- not accomplishing much. Let us hope so , if for the POTUS, at least for the sake of the country. Sharp in tongue- unless he wants “civility” from his oppoents. Empty in belly- wanting to play golf or raise money for the Democrats more than perform the duties of the POTUS. Check. Would Anita Dunn agree?

  7. I have a sexist comment:

If you can’t stand the heat, go back in the kitchen.

Ahhh…is Neo glaring at me behind that apple?

  8. Obama had his cover for the dysfunctional and acrimonious White House. He assumed the role of Lincoln in Team of Rivals, not realizing that Lincoln had attributes he lacked: character, humility, and a core of values.

I will be waiting for further revelations about how cabinet members prevented Obama from carrying out his worst ideas. I suspect we owe Gates a great deal.

  9. gs,

The complainers you refer to would just burn the dinner. I wouldn’t let any of them in my kitchen.

  10. Speaking of expose type books, I thought of the latest Joe McGinniss book on Sara Palin. Both books are due to be released next week, on the 20th. So based on pre-orders as I write this, the Obama book is #22 and climbing, while the Palin book is #30 and dropping.

That may be a more troublesome sign, along with the fact the Palin book author is being trashed, even in the NY Times, while the Washington Post is reporting on the Obama book at all.

gs beat me to it. I couldn’t possibly care less what these broads “feel.” Adults think. Children feel. If these gals can’t make their mark among the intellectual bonsai that are the Obama Administration, they should be baking brownies instead.

Sorry, but I for one am totally fed up with women bleating about their feelings – which nobody really gives a rat’s ass about – and complaining that any setback must be because they’re female.

News bulletin, girls: bad things happen to men too. I know that’s hard to believe, but it’s true. In fact, bad things happen to men all the time, in fact I suspect a lot more frequently than they do to women, and what happens to them is typically at least as bad if not a lot worse. It’s just that no one is especially interested in making a big deal out of it.

The feminist victim card is maxed out, along with the racism card. It’s time to grow up. Most of those agitating for even-handed treatment had better hope to God they never get their wish.

  12. Occam’s Beard: actually, in case you missed it, children also think, and adults of all stripes also feel.

The trouble is that sometimes feelings are meant to be kept private rather than aired or used as an excuse for something or as a cudgel to beat someone over the head with.

  13. Sorry, but I’m in a (ahem) testy mood right now, and therefore disinclined to internal censorship.

  14. Occam’ Beard: so you want to air your feelings?

Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

  15. The trouble is that sometimes feelings are meant to be kept private rather than aired or used as an excuse for something or as a cudgel to beat someone over the head with.

Actually, that was kind of my point, vis a vis the women in the Obama Administration.

  16. The dangerous follies of the Obama administration have nothing to do with the genitalia of his sycophants. BHO has no knowledge about anything in the real world and has naturally surrounded himself with a legion of advisors and czars, genitalia neutral, who know less than nothing. Its all dogma and leftover vomit from the Wilson administration with a veneer of FDR and a frosting of LBJ brushed on top.

  17. gs,
You would have loved seeing me in Paris last year. In the food dept at Galerie Layfayette, a guy tried to get my wallet from my purse. I hit him repeatedly with the wire food basket and loudly called him every name in the book. I am generally a rather nice wimp, but I do have limits. And GF had its show for the day.

    OB,
I can’t decide whether it’s worse having he feminists hate you for being male or claiming to speak for you because you are female. I am still outraged at Nancy Pelosi’s presumption that I should feel empowered by her election as speaker.

  18. Am I remembering correctly that Anita Dunn is the woman who said Mao was one of her heroes? And the one who used to do that funny thing with her mouth? The one who dreamed up that first “report unfair attacks on Obama” page on the WH site? Was highly critical of Fox News?

I would have ignored her also.

  19. Sorry, OB. I was just teasing you.

Nah, no problem, and in any case I had that coming.

Sorry for the intemperate tenor of my remarks. A tough week, and the title of the book pinged the double standard sore point. Much like an “imagine if Bush had done this,” imagine the reaction to a book asserting that men in the Obama Administration feel that they’re not paid sufficient deference. Word count of the response: two.

  20. I am still outraged at Nancy Pelosi’s presumption that I should feel empowered by her election as speaker.

Good point, expat. I semi-understand blacks being proud that a black man was elected President, but part of me wants to ask, “Why? You didn’t get elected to anything,” because that would be my reaction to someone of my ethnicity being elected. (I know, not the same thing, but not totally different, either.)

Whenever someone speaks of “empowerment,” I always think of a former colleague in industry. We were forced to sit through “training” on how to run our departments in a PC fashion when “empowerment” was in its first malignant flower. After the umpteenth reference to “empowerment,” my colleaguew shook off the smoked herring expression on his face and said, to no one in particular, “Power isn’t granted. It is seized.”

Dead silence ensued. But he was right.

  21. they have about as much power as feminists in communist countries have. which is contrary to what they say regarding such
