Seeing double Obamas — 12 Comments

  1. When I saw the title of this post, I was sure it would be about Mitt Romney working the crowd in Florida. When I saw that, yesterday, that was the thought that occurred to me. 🙂

  2. The resemblance is certainly very striking!

By the way, doesn’t anyone get the feeling that when anything, anyone or anywhere has a connection with Obama, the connection is always made out to be entirely positive rather than merely interesting or coincidental? It’s that old “How could anyone dislike Obama?” thing that was all the rage in late 2008 and early 2009.

I once visited a town called “Obama” in Japan. There were cheap, tacky (President) Obama-themed souvenirs among the wonderful Japanese goods in the local shops, and I couldn’t help thinking that the town was so much better than that. It was really beautiful, right by the sea and near a hot spring resort. There was no need to play up the connection at all.

  3. I should add: The town had always been called “Obama” – it hadn’t named itself after him. It was simply a coincidence. I’m sure that was obvious, but I just wanted to make that extra clear.

  4. the guy on the left exudes conceit, falsity, and smugness. The guy on the right actually seems nice and normal. And the readers of this forum seem so bright and kind and insightful.

I just read through the whole euro post and comments – brilliant bunch and scary depiction. I was like neo while it transpired: blissfully ignorant. Neo can you herd your brilliant bunch here to a post on what the heck we can best do with our acorns, Hondas, mortgages and small-piles-of-money-in-the-bank while Europe goes down and we slide in after? it’s too late to join the “buy gold” group. What do we do – just assume our intelligence and insights will continue to sustain us in the darkness of the new world? buy flashlights from Costco and cans of tuna? When the Germans had to bring wheel barrels of money to the store to buy bread, how long did that last? how many wheel barrels of money did each family have in the back room? Those photographs never make sense to me.

I know this may seem off topic, but the narcissist on the left above is greasing the slider down which we are stacked up to slide.

  5. whenever I see this with a world leader I’m reminded of the tales of doubles used during wars. If this were the era of WW2 then he’d have a job… and a dangerous one at that.

  6. Let’s give the guy on the right a shot at Presidentin’. He couldn’t do any worse than the current incumbent, and he seems pleasant enough, and if he doesn’t have any commie and/or terrorist buddies, we’re ahead of the game.

  7. Either way, a nice gig. One guy makes a good living pretending to be the president. The other guy makes a good living pretending to be Obama.
