Obama to Iran: Please give us back our drone!

Obama to Iran: Please give us back our drone!

Which started an earworm in my head for this classic scene from “Mothra vs. Godzilla,” 1964:

[NOTE: I put the video on the second page after "continued" because otherwise it was automatically loading and playing every time I went to my blog.]

  1. West Says:

Boy. I remember when I first saw that. And no, I am not going to say how long ago it was.

I do remember thinking, in current parlance:

    WTF?… Awesome!

    Thanks for the rekindled memory.

  2. Parker Says:

The proper response is: RETURN THE DRONE WITHIN 24 HOURS OR QOM IS A GLASS PARKING LOT. Otherwise, zip your lips BHO.

    PS – Mothra is cool.

  3. holmes Says:

Yes, it’s almost as if he’s trying to make America seem impotent.

  4. Mr. Frank Says:

The military wanted to destroy the drone on the ground. Obama turned down their request. Why?

  5. Parker Says:

“The military wanted to destroy the drone on the ground. Obama turned down their request. Why?”

Technology transfer to sooth the mullahs? Laziness? Playing to the base? Only the messiah knows.

  6. Don Carlos Says:

I can see maybe asking Panetta, but Obama? And have we no contingency plans for drone screw-ups over Iran? This decision should never have gotten as far up the ladder as it apparently did. Which tells us something, and it ain’t good.

    Parker is right.

Me, I think after he got a “NO!” answer, he said “Pretty please….even with a cherry on top?” After all, Obama has instructed us countless times: you’ve got to talk to these people the right way. Can’t be arrogant like my predecessor.

Or perhaps he’ll just claim that they won’t give it back because of George W. Bush.

PS Who saw/heard Obama, in press conference w/ al Maliki today, “portrayed Iraq as a democracy and model for the Middle East… What we have now achieved is an Iraq that is self-governing, that is inclusive, and that has enormous potential.”

What are the chances that he intended the “we” to be a royal “we” referring to himself. Taking credit for the war, winning it, and insuring that there’s a democracy. What a guy!

  8. Gary Rosen Says:

This is a great moment in American history. It reminds me of December 8, 1941 when Roosevelt made the clarion call, “Will the Japanese PLEASE clean up after themselves at Pearl Harbor?!?!”

  9. Daniel Says:

I say we nuke it from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

  10. SteveH Says:

I like to be optimistic. Maybe the drone is carrying the liberal virus and pretty soon we’ll see Iran’s defense obliterated by obese Iranians marching in the streets demanding free food and wifi from an omnipotent sugar daddy government.

  11. Bob from Virginia Says:

People I’m surprised at you all. Don’t you all realize this is an effort by the smartest man ever to occupy the White House to get the Mullahs to laugh themselves to death. The man’s a genius; I can’t wait to see what he’ll do in his second term.

BTW does anyone know if any of the MSM covered this story? I noticed that previous unpleasant but revealing stories about the One were buried behind the dog bites man stories.

  12. J.J. formerly Jimmy J. Says:

Yes, all you have to do is ask nicely and those gentlemen in the turbans and cloaks will rush around and honor your request. In Obam’s ideal world that is the way things work. Also, money appears from no where and no one has to get their hands dirty to keep the economy along moving briskly. Ah, it’s such a wonderful world.

  13. Scott Says:

I could be naive, and probably am, but I REALLY, REALLY hope that if the technology is as super secret and state of the art as we’ve been led to believe, that covert plans/operations are ongoing behind the scenes that we don’t know about.

I can’t believe Panetta and Petreaus are going to just give this supposed super secret technology to Iran, who will share it with China and Russia.

If nothing covert is being planned, then my next guess is that we have intel suggesting China, Russia, and/or Iran already have the technology, or are on the verge of having it, so it’s not as big a loss as we currently believe.

There’s just got to be more going on here than we know. Otherwise, we are in much worse hands than I ever imagined.

  14. J.J. formerly Jimmy J. Says:

    Sorry, it’s early!
    Should be……..”Obama’s”…….. and ……”moving along briskly”…………

  15. armchair pessimist Says:

Another amusing parallel with His despised predecessor. Didn’t Bush have to get on his knees to get a US (spy?) plane & crew back from the Chinese?

Neo, Check out this hurricane (AGW) story.

    :)

    We are.

  18. ziontruth Says:

“You want that ball? You want it back? So go get it! Ha ha ha!” (Biff Tannen, Back To The Future II)

And if they do give it back… “Thank you sir, may I have another?”

  19. JaneLK Says:

Neo – I love the way your mind works ;-) . I love the two little girls singing the Mothra invocation song as well as “please return the egg; you must return the egg!”

  20. Bob from Virginia Says:

texexec, I agree. I wonder how it is that 44% of the public hasn’t this out yet?

About Me

Previously a lifelong Democrat, born in New York and living in New England, surrounded by liberals on all sides, I've found myself slowly but surely leaving the fold and becoming that dread thing: a neocon.
