…here’s the question of the day: what do you think of Sarah Palin’s new eyeglasses?
When I first saw them, I was shocked that I was shocked to see that her eyeglass frames were new. It’s odd how a person’s eyeglasses can become such a familiar part of his/her face that the viewer experiences any change as a jarring jolt.
Palin had signature thin rims and now she’s got thick ones, a much stronger eyeglass statement. Did she want to look more authoritative? More of a mental heavyweight? DId she succeed? Or was she just tired of the old look?
I like them. But of course, Palin would look good in almost anything.

She will look good in anything, but I agree about how the glasses become part of the character. It would be hard to recognize Teddy Roosevelt without his pince nez.

I noticed that, too. They are much wider than the typical dominant style these days, so I wonder if she has progressive lenses (as I do) that accommodate nearsightedness and farsightedness. Those thin lenses don’t leave much room to find the spot you need.

Time for one of your separated-at-births, Neo. Doesn’t she look like Linda Ellerbe in her heyday?

I think the new glasses give her a softer look, the sexy librarian look.

OK, now she can see Russia from her house, right?

The glasses don’t bother me, but the bangs do.

I kinda’ prefer the previous eyeglasses and I agree that the bangs and her new hairstyle arent very becoming. She needs a shorter, more chic cut.

…this new look makes her look like a 50′s high school cheerleader who studied hard enough to make good grades. To me, anyway.

She still looks great. The most attractive thing about any female is what is between her ears. Sarah Palin is Hot!

I see Palin becoming better and better at public speaking. Her voice is less grating and her delivery smoother.

The big rims have been getting to be more and more in style lately. In some ways, the more ostentatious, the better. I certainly don’t understand it at all… Personally, I prefer the older style. I’m a fan of the thin frames if for no other reason than that the wearer is less aware of them.
As an aside, if you’re interested (and I know she played basketball, so maybe she’s been paying attention here?), this is a trend that has been popping up a lot in the NBA in the past year or so. The more obnoxious, it seems, the better.
Personally, I don’t get it, and like Charlie said, they can take my thin rims “from my cold, dead hands”!

At least she’s not holding an apple in front of her face.

Hate the new glasses and the long bangs. She could be a heavy hitter if she did what Thatcher did and got some voice coaching.

She looks about 15 years younger in that clip. Amazing.

Sarah’s a babe. she can do what she wants. If she wants to march “progressives” off to a prison camp Im down with that.
Now back to my regularly scheduled six-pack.

I know it cheezes off the liberals, but Sarah is a trend setter and she’s just moving to a new style to make a new trend. The old look was great, but the new look is softer and less sexy, which is a good thing.
Personally, the less she covers that great face, the better, but we’ll see how this one grows.

I think Toy got it. I just got progressive lenses and am the same age as Sarah Palin. And made almost thr same choice in glasses–bothe the previous non-progressive and the new ones.
