I thought you might appreciate… — 44 Comments

  1. Half-full or half-empty?

Do we ever think about the fact that the glass may sometimes just be the wrong size?

  2. “”doesn’t it seem as though the glass is actually less than half full, because of the angle of the sides of the glass?””

A fine example of playing to the consensus of skewed perceptions in the world, as opposed to dealing with confusing things like logic, facts and truth.

  3. Now what on earth does this have to do with the most important issue of our times, namely Chick-fil-A?

  4. I define summer as June1-September 1, as 90 degree days begin in June down here. I define summer as ending at Labor Day, because regardless of how brutal August has been, you very rarely get 100 degree days after Labor Day. [After you have seen 105, 97 degrees is HEAVEN.] By that criteria, summer is almost two-thirds done.

It’s been a pretty nice summer. Very few days have seen the thermometer hit 100. I’d rather see 55 or 65 than 95, but compared to 105, 95 is a pretty good alternative.

  5. Anyone else think the Olympics Opening Ceremony was boring?

And BTW, I have always liked Chick-fil-A but will now eat there more than ever.

  6. Northeastern summers are to be enjoyed. Northeastern winters are to be endured. Texas winters are to be enjoyed. Texas summers are to be endured.

There is the old joke about the Devil buying Texas, and deciding to live in Hell and rent out Texas, because Hell was cooler.

But this summer is OK. I have turned the air conditioning on for only two hours. You are acclimated to Texas climate when you figure that a 95 degree day, a temperature which would give a Northeasterner apoplexy, is not bad. [Recall Irving Berlin’s song Tropical Heat Wave, where the temperature got all the way to 93].

  7. Looks like a swig of Stoli to me. But, enough about 25-years ago tomorrow.{-:

  8. texexec, chik-fil-a has great food but also the most courteous and polite fast food workers you’ll ever experience.
I’ll join you with more trips there.

  9. For politics, here’s some bait:

In addition to her seventeen Cadillacs, I just learned Anne Romney owns an Olympic athlete. “The Sport of Kings” indeed…

  10. Here in Pennsylvania, it’s been in the 90s for weeks. I have been huddling indoors with the air conditioning turned up and have been going outside as little as possible.

For the AGW cultists, this is known as “July”.

  11. I’ve always said that winter is my favorite season because I don’t get any centipedes then. But I must say that I haven’t seen many this summer.

They must have all spontaneously combusted in this f*cking heat.

  12. The Blatant Lie.

If you tell a little boy not to look through the knothole in the board at the end of the fence, what will he do?

What will the little boy do? He shall look through the knothole first and then, only then, find his justification.

We have been told to never (never!) use the word nigger.

    Obama is a nigger.

Now, don’t get upset. Nigger doesn’t mean black. As we’ve been told by none other than Morgan Freeman, Obama is not our first black President. Anyone may be a nigger, if they want to be. Niggers are lazy and sloppy and uneducated. Joe Biden is a nigger. Ole Joe is more of a nigger than Barack. Harry Reid and Nanci Pelosi are niggers. They are lazy and uneducated persons.

How about Clarence Thomas of whom the illiberals call a nigger? C’mon. Not hardly.

How about rap stars who say the word nigger so much you might think they’d like to be called it? No. They acquire property in the free market and support second amendment (gun control) rights. And, of course, without free speech, their near criminal call to kill government agents would be savagely reprised. For the moment, they are indulged, but their accumulation of extraordinary wealth has, even now, put them on the “recovery” list.

Why is Obama a nigger despite not being black? And why is Clarence Thomas not a nigger despite being black. The answer is crucial for America’s survival as a non-nigger nation. We approach the answer through how an individual acquires meaning and identity. Traditionally, our right to an individual life is defined because a Creator said so. Simple. The Creator is an ultimate authority who has stated an individual’s life, property and freedom cannot be violated unless there is a criminal offense. And the Creator then stated the criminal offenses known as the Ten Commandments.

But a new God, the “government” was declared by horrendous and evil people. This god stated new Commandments and we became, according to them, something other than we were:

    ” . . . we’re all Hegelians now.”–Gagdad Bob at:http://onecosmos.blogspot.com/

Gagdad Bob was taking to ground Newsweek’s claim that “we’re all socialists now.” Newsweek asserted a new god, the government, and that new god has new rules.

I think there is a purer expression. The words “socialists” and “Hegelians” do not bring the impact of the loss of humanity and identity that the word “nigger” does.

Nigger is not a bad word. Calling a person a nigger is not a bad thing if it is the truth. Let us now define nigger:

A nigger is a person who is not his own property and has no rights except through another.

Being a nigger is a bad thing. Of course it is–either upon either the one who enslaved another or the one who enslaved himself.

If you are an able individual and look to the government for your welfare, you are a nigger.

Consider the injustice of that word nigger in the past. You’ve been captured and your most precious right, freedom, has been forcibly removed. Further, your right to the fruits of your own labor have been denied you. Would you work diligently? Would you tell the truth? Would you respect property? In this state of war, is not every action you take against your enemy justified? Your righteous actions of defending your identity and freedom are judged as character faults by your “Master.”

The Bible claims man shall maintain his survival by “the sweat of his brow.” When a man takes the sweat of another man’s brow as his own, that usurped man becomes a nigger. However, in the new modern version of nigger, your real Master is not only the government but the freeman who supplies the government with money until the freeman disappears and then you will too. Starvation does that. Ruin does that. Note the destruction is California, Illinois, Detroit, USSR, China, Vietnam, Eastern Europe. Where would you rather live, the USA or Russia?

Modern nigger (socialist, Hegelian), you do produce, but just a little and not near as much as the freeman. This irks you and you project your failure. You want subsidy and affirmation. You claim discrimation, but you have been duped, brainwashed. You accepted chains in your mind in place of the chains that used to wrap a nigger’s body. These mental chains are much much worse and heinous. We know that. We can compare the amount of loss between modern niggary and slavery niggery. The former overwhelms the latter. The former (and latter) includes Islam. Islam is a history of mental and physical slavery.

Obama tells us his philosophy; he tells us government is Master. Fuck him. Nice for him to be government. Nice to be Master and Slave at the same time.

Obama doesn’t build anything. Individuals don’t build anything. Only the government builds. So, in reality it’s kind of hard to see how anything gets built. No wonder Hegelian society dies.

We are all niggers now, or SHOULD BE according to Obama. Do you want to accept Obama’s America? He has told us his America will make us all niggers and that we will not decide our fate, our property, our happiness, our health care: Government will.

Our master will be the government; the government comes first; without it we have no identity. Freedom is only possible through the government. Property belongs to the government. And you are property. We are all niggers now. You don’t own anything. Not even your own body. You’re going to have stop drinking soda because it costs the government too much for you to do so. As we all know, it’s not you that has meaning, only the government has meaning because the government is God and you are nothing.

Malcolm X called the Irish the niggers of Europe. I hope that means that they didn’t take their enslavement willingly, that they fought, sabotaged, and killed for their freedom. That’s what kidnapping and taking me away from my family deserves.

But it wasn’t the Irish who were niggers. It was the Russians and Eastern Europeans and the Chinese and all those who lived in Hegelian hell. When the god who rules you is man’s god and not Nature’s God, God help you.

And you afraid of the word nigger? Coward. Are you afraid of opposing the collectivists knows as niggers and gays? Coward. Consider the lives’ lost and the immeasurable misery: You are afraid of the word nigger? You nigger. You slave. You coward. Stop.

Is it possible that I am starting to illicit some outrage not at the use of the word “nigger” but at the unspeakable and evil Hegelian philosophy that turns humans into niggers. If you find the history of slavery a horror and incomprehensible, if you admire the courage of the abolitionists, if you can be moved reading Uncle Tom’s Cabin, then you should be moved to action by this blatant lie of all lies: You didn’t build it. Fuck you Obama!

    OF COURSE I BUILT IT.

The government is an abstraction that is not God. We use government to define and uphold Law defined by God and Nature. When government rises up against God, there will be hell to pay. There has been hell to pay and my question is, will you continue to pay for those who claim a right to rebel against Nature and Nature’s God? Rise up you cowards and fight! (And thank God for you fighters!)

    Have I been naughty?

I’ve been told not to say a word. I don’t think I shall obey. I think I have a duty to do otherwise. I have explained why. You decide if that explanation has merit and whether or not you will let convention determine your action. Convention is important but these are times that destroy men’s souls.

Wake up you Hegelians, you socialists, you NIGGERS, my fellow PERSONS who have lost your souls, you have your souls to gain and your chains to lose.

  13. Texexec;

No, the opening ceremony wasn’t just boring – it down right stunk.

I watched because I kept hoping for something, anything, to happen. (there’s a couple of hours of my life totally wasted! Although, I did want to see the parade of nations – that is always good)

It was clearly an overdone, overpriced, “broadway” production in which they wanted to make every left-wing political point possible and dress it up with dancers, props, videos, light-shows, etc. As with so many leftwing displays it ended up being very disjointed, incoherent nonsense.

I truly felt sorry for the royal family – I could simply turn of the TV and go to bed – the royals had to sit there throughout the whole boring piece of crap and pretend that they liked it!

  14. OK….you’re right…it WAS crappy.

Did the Queen show even a trace of a smile? All through it, she looked like she had a tummy ache.

  15. I could only stomach about an hour of the fiasco. Celebrating the NHS? Stories stemming from it are far scarier than anything Rowling ever devised.

And I couldn’t help hoping the queen continues to enjoy relatively good health and many more years on the throne. I’d rather they abolish British royalty than ever let her nitwit oldest ever sit on the throne. The only throne he’s worthy of is, well, you get the picture.

  16. I didn’t watch the opening ceremony, but I was greatly entertained by the comments at Ace of Spades last night.

Here’s an article that seems to sum it up: An Olympic Nightmare

At one point, my astonishment at the sheer magnitude of the train wreck had the effect of having my eyes taped open at the horror of horrors, making me feel like the serial rapist from Clockwork Orange. I wouldn’t have been shocked if a monstrous statue of Joseph Stalin was unveiled at the end whose head birthed a hydra and ate the audience.

  17. Curtis: I have my own rant about “nigger”. It seems childish that there is a word we are afraid to say or hear. But I avoid it, as a measure of respect.

Have you read Off the Books by Sudhir Venkatesh? Many of the self-identified niggers in that book are not looking to the government. They run their own world inside the one you, me and Obama share.

  18. Yes, I use the term not as a term to disrespect those who suffered but as as term to wake people up. Of course it hurts to equate the two because the equation makes the past victim equal to the current victimizer. it is not fair but then they are dead and we are alive.

  19. 95 (which on my wall thermometer comes out as 35) is just bearable with a cool glass of beer at hand. Right now for me, in the middle of a fast (the anniversary of the destruction of the Temple), not so much. Thank God for air conditioning, or I don’t know how I could ever hold on.

This is a day-long fast, from sundown to sundown. The muzzies have a month-long fast, but it’s from sunrise to sundown each day; plus, their calendar slips away from the seasons, so Ramadan doesn’t always fall on the heat of summer. This year it does. It really doesn’t make sense for them to compete in the Olympics in such conditions except as a show of power, which they’re delivering in spades (spades? Spades! WAAAAACIST!) in these Londonistan 2012 Muslympics.

  20. Just got back from Chick-fil-A. Yummy. I had the spicy chicken sandwich meal with buffalo sauce and lemonade.

This Chick-fil-A is close to home, but is not on my usual driving routes. It’s near a movie theater, and the only times I’ve eaten there before were when I went to movies. However, I rarely go to movies anymore since I’ve been boycotting Hollywood leftists. Ironic, eh?

  21. Our ‘Orlando Sentinel’ newspaper here in Central Florida asked a poll question–unscientific, just any readers who wished to respond bu e-mail–“Is Barack Obama bad for business?”

    The response: 78%–Yes. 22%–No.

    Baa-Daa-Bing. Like Dat.

  22. Here in my part of Iowa we’ve had less than 0.8 inches of rain since May 29 and early spring was drier than usual. The corn crop is ruined and soybeans are in need of significant rain within the next 10 days or it is a busted crop. Pastures and alfalfa fields are brown and crisp. Today we have a reprieve from the heat and a few drops of rain. We’ve had daily highs above 100 and lows in the upper 70s to the 80s for 30 days. A few days ago it was 100 at 9 pm. And the winds blows sucking moisture from watering right out of the ground. My garden is not producing, small trees are dying. Drought is hell.

So I’m ready for summer to end. Its 1988 deja vu disaster where I live. Drought is a grim reaper. When it hits you it hits you like a fist of iron. Give me floods, tornadoes, and bitter -20 winter for days on end any time that I can weather; but drought steals your spirit. Get ready for food prices to rise and next year meat will be expense as farmers and ranchers sell off animals they can not afford to feed. Those of us who live close to the land fear drought above all else and so should the rest of you.

Meanwhile, I have a new granddaughter and she makes me smile. We endure, we survive, and life goes on and on.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEkRkZePRJk

Those who still till the earth feed us all.

  23. And I couldn’t help hoping the queen continues to enjoy relatively good health and many more years on the throne. I’d rather they abolish British royalty than ever let her nitwit oldest ever sit on the throne. The only throne he’s worthy of is, well, you get the picture.

Actually, he collects the latter type.

    Really.

  24. On the bright side, you have left plenty of room for some good bourbon. My choice would be Maker’s Mark, no ice.

  25. Weather is what we all talk about. Especially when it’s not “normal.” The midwest has heat and drought. Here in the People’s Republic of Puget Sound we are finally getting some sunny days after a long, cold, wet spring. We may have had one day where the temperature got up to 80. Most days it struggles to reach 70. Last week we had thunderstorms – something that is quite rare here. Some are calling it a year without summer. We’d like to export some of the rain and lower temps to the east. I’m not complaining, though. One reason we’re here is because I like cool temps. The rain is another issue, but my wife likes it because her skin cannot stand a dry climate. Cool and wet – not perfect but it works for the two of us.

When La Nina switches back to El Nino it will all go back to “normal.” Whatever that is.

  26. Curtis:
    Thank you.
I too, albeit discreetly, use the N-word, particularly with my 30-something kids who don’t like to hear it. I remind them of its meanings, of Huck Finn, and of my freedom of speech. There are lots of white niggers out there.

    bobsykes:
As to bourbon, do try Woodford Reserve. It makes Maker’s Mark taste like a Bud.

  27. Anthony Watts of Watts Up With That has announced the pre-publication release of a paper documenting how NOAA has “adjusted” temperatures from rural weather stations (which are away from man-made heat sources) to match data from urban stations (which are close to them).

The pre-publication release is to allow commentary, criticism, and correction of errors.

A reanalysis of U.S. surface station temperatures has been performed using the recently WMO-approved Siting Classification System devised by METEO-France’s Michel Leroy. The new siting classification more accurately characterizes the quality of the location in terms of monitoring long-term spatially representative surface temperature trends. The new analysis demonstrates that reported 1979-2008 U.S. temperature trends are spuriously doubled, with 92% of that over-estimation resulting from erroneous NOAA adjustments of well-sited stations upward. The paper is the first to use the updated siting system which addresses USHCN siting issues and data adjustments.

The new improved assessment, for the years 1979 to 2008, yields a trend of +0.155C per decade from the high quality sites, a +0.248 C per decade trend for poorly sited locations, and a trend of +0.309 C per decade after NOAA adjusts the data. This issue of station siting quality is expected to be an issue with respect to the monitoring of land surface temperature throughout the Global Historical Climate Network and in the BEST network.

    July 29th, 2012 at 8:08 pm

Some are calling it a year without summer.

That’s funny, because in my part of Pennsylvania, I called it “the year without a winter”. Daytime temperatures rarely got below 40º, and we only had a couple of light dustings of snow that melted almost immediately.

We’d like to export some of the rain and lower temps to the east.

    Have at it.

  29. Who else is declining with politically motivated scientists: socialists.

How much would science have found?

  30. I’ve actually sworn off politics until after November. I’m going to see what it feels like to walk around in blissful ignorance of the swirling events around me. It will be difficult, and in fact, nearly impossible. But I will try. I will try to be the blank slate Independent who is so coveted in the polls.

  31. If you only disllike Obama’s white half Are you still considered a racist….. Wadda ya think?

  32. @J.J. formerly Jimmy J. Says: Here in the People’s Republic of Puget Sound we are finally getting some sunny days after a long, cold, wet spring. I’m spending my first summer (ever!!!) not “living in California” …having moved to Spokane late last fall.

The weather has been …perfect. My first snowy winter. Beautiful spring that ended in late June. And an iridescently fabulous summer.

Some warm days, some cool days. Rained a time or three, and two of those, rather torrentially (the locals all remarked on how unusual that was). None of it of late, though.

On the warm days (might reach the low-90’s …and for someone from the Sacramento Valley, a 90 degree day is considered “refreshingly cool”), the temp grows quite pleasant by the time I light up the coals (we’re on the barbie about 6 days out of 7 since late May or so).

Sunday afternoon was spent at the John Finch Arboretum …more of an idyll on a summer afternoon, really.

Until I noticed this …thing …hanging from the branch of a red maple. I called my wife over to see the oddity …and the hanging lump “pulsated” (I jumped back at that lol).

I finally figured it wasn’t the biggest cocoon I’d ever seen, but was some kind of very large bat (later that evening I found a pix of the hoary bat …it seems I’d had a rather fortunate “sighting” of a common though elusive species of a solitary bat …and if it had flown, that 16 inch weekspan would have prob’ly scared the crap out of me).

…making the idyllic afternoon not merely iridescent, but memorably so.

Deciding to move to Spokane already ranks as one of the better decisions of my late adulthood (my wife concurs …making the choice better yet, naturally).

  33. weekspan=wingspan. Sigh.

…I guess I can’t blame all those on the word choice in my ‘Droid keyboard anymore, lol.

  34. Dear Don Carlos,

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll hit the liquor store today.
