  1. Regrettably, the winged hogs overflew my airspace and they got shot down.

On the bright side: bacon and wings.

  2. On the other hand, against my better judgement, I ruined an otherwise peaceful Sunday morning and turned on MSNBC so I could hear the Ministry of Truth roundtable discussion claim that Paul Ryan was following the same arc that Sarah Palin did(only crashing and burning even faster)and that this week was utterly disastrous for the Romney campaign.

My digestion can only take so much cognitive dissonance at 7am.

  3. Totally OT …but as Neo’s been a Romney fan for a long time (and I have not, though I’ve come around to at least slightly more than mere acceptance), I have a couple of links that you other non-fans might want to read.

From The American Thinker, Karen McQuillan with an entirely illuminating piece about the man who would replace Obama as president: “Obama and Romney: character shows“.

With the hat tip for the American Thinker piece cited going to The Corner, and a short piece by the illimitable Mark Steyn: “Dreams from my father, calls from my brother“.

Romney showed his measure as a man.

    Indeed.

…and by and with this anecdote, I think that – despite my earlier, obvious-at-this-point incorrect, misgivings …so, no credit to my political discernment and acumen whatsoever being evident – somehow we (well, some of us, me excluded) managed to indeed nominate one of the better presidential candidates …ever …after all.

Romney’s sense of responsibility is why he is running for president. According to his wife, Ann Romney asked him if he thought he could fix America’s economy. Mitt said, yes. Ann told him, then you have to run.

“Can you fix it?” she asked Mitt. “I need to know. Is it too late?”

Mitt Romney replied, “No. It’s getting late, but it’s not too late.”

…and that, dear Watson, tells the tale.

  4. Wolla: if they’re trying that hard, we have won.

A vagina is a space, after all. Visually, a space is a negative. Covering themselves with pink towels says what about the women inside?

  5. davisbr –

Obviously I was in your camp too, and the one thing I can say right now is that if we lose, I won’t be inclined to blame Romney or those who made him the nominee.

What this points to is that I think Romney and his camp have done a very good job of defusing a lot of the tension that emerged in the primary, and he has assuaged much of the “base’s” worry about him as a candidate (we’ll worry about what he does as President once that happens – but we have reason to be cautiously optimistic). I have gone from thinking him a spineless waffler to thinking “the balls on this guy!” Quite a shift for someone who couldn’t have distrusted the man more.

For crying out loud, he’s campaigning on Medicare! There is no doubt that thus far neo has been vindicated in her view of Romney. She called him a man of character – that’s what we’ve seen. She argued that he was at the very least much more conservative than those like myself gave him credit for – granted, he has not had a chance to propose real legislation yet, but he is actively campaigning for a mandate for conservative reform on an issue that has scared away even the most rock-ribbed right-wingers.

And once those things come into focus, the other virtues of Romney become much clearer. He is far from gaffe-prone, understands the ground game, is clean as a whistle in his personal life, is attractive physically, and can string sentences together without sounding like someone who never made it out of grade school.

Speaking as someone usually included in “the base,” if we lose, THIS is how I want to lose. On offense, fighting, head held high – smart and tough.

  6. Prior to the last presidential election, I spent a lot of time on one board which slammed Palin as a dumb rube, at best.
I kept saying that you can’t do this honestly without looking at Biden.
These guys, who made themselves out to be people of learnng and character, never did.
We’ll see what they can gin up on Ryan.

  7. A*L*E*R*T..!!

Anybody else seen the about-to-hit-the-stands Newsweek cover story at Drudge? Tina Brown must be waaaaay beyond desperate for ‘buzz & sales’. Entitled,”Hit the Road, Barack: Why We Need a New President” by Niall Ferguson. Holy S***!! Like I’ve taken a Happy Pill.

  8. 1. A vagina is a beautiful thing and the source of the cornucopia of life. We are all born through that passage. 2. Anyone who uses the image of a vagina to make vaginas ugly is doomed to a life of misery. 3. How pathetic the left! They have sunk to the bottom and now grovel in the murky waters breathing whale excrement through their gills. 4. In so many ways the whole charade of the last 50 years is now unraveling. 5. The unraveling will be ugly, chaotic, and painful. 6. Hold onto your hats, we are entering a turbulent atmosphere. 7. Only the strong survive. 8. Me and mine will survive. 9. I wish the same to all of you. 10. The future is not written, we write the future.

  9. This article by Sultan Knish is a must-read. I found it at Ace of Spades. It distills the essence of what Obama is doing to this country.

The Most Divisive Campaign in American History

There is not a single Obama voter anywhere in the land who believes that another four years of him will make this country better. Not a single one from coast to coast. No, what they believe is that he will make the country a worse place for those people that they hate. That he will have four more years to sink their ideas deeper in the earth, regardless of how many families go hungry and how many fathers kill themselves because they can no longer take care of their families. What they believe is that Obama will grant their group more special privileges and the rest of the country can go to hell.

  10. Fellow travelers: I just had to share this with you. It actually cheered me up — if THIS is all they have to throw against Romney, we are looking at a bright, sunshiny election day….You are not going to believe what they consider the three “prongs” of the Republican strategy.

But brace yourselves. The link is to George Soros’s “MoveOn.org” site, and a 4- minute video. This is the text of their email (Fisk away!) and the link.

    >>Dear MoveOn member,

Mitt Romney could win. Don’t believe it?

Well, you’re not alone. Most people don’t understand that the GOP has an incredibly upsetting plan in place to put Mitt Romney in the White House–a plan that, frankly, is working.

This video spells it out for you–a three pronged GOP strategy that includes a little-known, shocking, and racist [sic] strategy designed to help Romney win. Watching and sharing it might be the most important thing you do to defeat Romney in this election.

Please click here, watch “REVEALED: The GOP Strategy”, and share this with your family and friends.

If we understand what we’re fighting against, we CAN mobilize and fight back. People power works–MoveOn members have proven it time and time again.

Please watch this video and get in the game by sharing it with your Facebook and social networks.

Thank you for all you do.

  11. “[sic]”

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

  12. Jim Sullivan, what you needed was 2 beers and a big bowl of popcorn. Great with any clown show.

    1. A vagina is a beautiful thing and the source of the cornucopia of life.” And a great substitute for The Holy Grail for most men.
