Spambot of the day — 8 Comments

  1. I share the sentiment captured in that last line: “My only regret is that I am going before that rat Robespierre.”

There are several people who fall into that category for me.

  2. Hi Neo-neocon,

If it’s any consolation, enemies of Robespierre slandered his name, and he was executed by berserk people, shortly after Danton was killed, I guess.

  3. N-Neocon…After the election treat yourself to R.R.Palmer’s classic,”The Twelve Who Ruled:The Year of the Terror in the French Revolution”. A giant and remains the best on The Committee of Public Safety.

  4. It took but three years to progress from universal brotherhood to the terror in the French revolution. Yet many on the left keep reenacting the dream expressed by Schiller in his Ode to Joy – Alle Menschen werden Bruder, Wo dein sanfter Flugel weilt. (All men will become brothers where your peaceful river flows.) No they wont, they will soon begin killing their brothers and sisters in the name of ideological purity. Of course, I hasten to assure the authorities, the tendency of the left to impose its views by violence bears no resemblance to and has no connection to modern Islam (an oxymoron if I ever saw one). l’audace, l’audace. toujours l’audace!

  5. For those, like myself who know no French
    Thanks Google 🙂

    l’audace, l’audace. toujours l’audace!

    boldness, audacity. always audacity!

  6. Went to the above amazon link and came across a review of the “Heaven-On-Earth …” by the great Thomas Sowell: http://www.amazon.com/review/R15ACJ0L5OW4B4/ref=cm_cr_pr_cmt?ie=UTF8&ASIN=1893554457&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=#wasThisHelpful

Sowell is always worth reading and hearing. Recommend the Hoover Institute Uncommon Knowledge interviews website: hoover.org/multimedia/uncommon-knowledge
Hundreds of video interviews, several with Sowell, Richard Epstein, VDH, Milton Friedman — the list goes on and on.

  7. You just keep drinking that kool-aid Ray.
I remember listening to a talk by Bernard Bassett SJ some 30 yrs ago.
    As well as I remember-
“Politicians tell you Peace, Peace, Peace. Believe in me I have the answer….
But most people don’t listen to the second line that they say- It will come tomorrow.
Tomorrow never comes. Christ is the only one that offers us Peace today.”

So when you are looking for your ideal socialist, remember this quote
Albert Einstein – “Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.”
