Obama’s character flaws are nothing new — 41 Comments

  1. “Has there ever been a president in the history of the republic so conceited (there’s no other word, really) and so unapologetic about it? With so little reason to be? “

Certainly not in the 20th century. (I’m not a historian, so I can’t speak to the 19th century Presidents but I doubt it.

Obama’s narcissistic conceit is a psychological defense mechanism and a primary means of getting supporters to invest in him. His bravado conceals a profound insecurity. His ideological conceit and intellectual narcissism is a defense mechanism to support a deep inferiority complex. His duplicity, which is a primary facet of his psyche, a tactic to keep all others off balance. He’s definitely insecure yet simultaneously exhibits many of the features of a sociopath.

“common features of descriptions of the behavior of sociopaths.
    Glibness and Superficial Charm
    Manipulative and Cunning
    Grandiose Sense of Self
    Pathological Lying
(Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing and even able to pass lie detector tests.)
Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt
(A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.)
    Shallow Emotions
    Incapacity for real Love
    Need for Stimulation
    Callousness/Lack of Empathy
    Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature
    Early Behavior Problems/Juvenile Delinquency
    Irresponsibility/Unreliability
(Not concerned about wrecking others’ lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blames others, even for acts they obviously committed.)
    Promiscuous Sexual Behavior/Infidelity
(To my knowledge, Obama does not exhibit this trait, however a low libido would account for that)
Lack of Realistic Life Plan/Parasitic Lifestyle
(Tends to move around a lot or makes all encompassing promises for the future, poor work ethic but exploits others effectively.)
    Criminal or Entrepreneurial Versatility
(Changes their image as needed to avoid prosecution. Changes life story readily.)

    Other Related Qualities:

Contemptuous of those who seek to understand them
Does not perceive that anything is wrong with them
    Authoritarian
    Secretive
    Paranoid
Only rarely in difficulty with the law, but seeks out situations where their tyrannical behavior will be tolerated, condoned, or admired
    Conventional appearance
Goal of enslavement of their victim(s)
Exercises despotic control over every aspect of the victim’s life
Has an emotional need to justify their crimes and therefore needs their victim’s affirmation (respect, gratitude and love)
Ultimate goal is the creation of a willing victim
Incapable of real human attachment to another
Unable to feel remorse or guilt
    Extreme narcissism and grandiose
May state readily that their goal is to rule the world

(The above traits are based on the psychopathy checklists of H. Cleckley and R. Hare.)

Really quite striking wouldn’t you say?

If he is a sociopath and the evidence is quite convincing, then is it any surprise that the first sociopathic President would be the most conceited ever? I have little doubt that in his heart of hearts, he rates himself much higher than fourth…

  2. Great post, Neo. I just tweeted it.

For others here who visit this blog regularly…it’s VERY easy to tweet the posts. They are worthy of being spread around.

  3. Has there ever been a president in the history of the republic so conceited (there’s no other word, really) and so unapologetic about it? With so little reason to be?

    Nope. Not even close.

  4. Great post and list Neo; but you left off “chutzpah.”

It takes a lot, and I mean a lot, of chutzpah to compare yourself and your “accomplisments” to others great figures in history. Yea, I know this really falls under the “grandiosity” category – but, it still takes a lot of chutzpah to make that claim as seen in this video clip.

This really is one President in which the Democrat Party’s unofficial mascot is a jackass, and quite fitting.

  5. Agree with Mr. Britain: 0bama exhibits the traits of the “industrial sociopath” who generally does not break the law, but makes everyone around him miserable as he manipulates, dominates, and ultimately discards them like used Kleenex. I know from experience that is extremely liberating and gratifying to finally tell a person like this to FOAD. I plan to do exactly that via ballot to 0bama on Nov. 6.

  6. Again, we have no one to blame but the MSM for the presence of this sociopath as president. We all knew about it in 2008. They (the MSM) knew about it in 2008 and decided it wasn’t worth letting the people know. My contempt for them is beyond words; even more so than my contempt for the president and the democrats.

  7. Geoffrey Britain (12:00 pm) refers to The One as “the first sociopathic President”.

Ummmnnnh, I contend William Jefferson Clinton was definitely a sociopath (as well as a congential liar); can’t quite speak knowlegeably for/about previous presidents.

    Let’s not forget ^too^ easily.

  8. neo says:
“Everything … was on full view during the 2008 election and earlier….”

    TOTALLY explains undecided voters.
    Such as Anal T. House.

    I-G-N-O-R-A-N-C-E

    .

Dear Undecided Voter Who is Being Interviewed,

You are not virtuous. You are ignorant. If you were informed, you would pick a side.

I do not condemn political ignorance. At all. However, I do condemn your belief that you have something valuable (even virtuous) to add to the conversation. You do not. You are ignorant of politics, government, economics, foreign policy, and both candidates. Get off my TV. That is all.

    Sincerely,
    Politically Obsessed Citizen

  9. Neo: I have to disagree that “conceited” is the only word for it. Conceited implies something with a garden variety quality about it. All presidents have very large egos and could be just as a conceited but, much more intelligent and self-aware about hiding it.
This guy is way beyond conceited. I agree with Geoffrey, Obama is a pathological narcissist.

  10. physicsguy,

I agree, the MSM’s abandonment of objective reportage in favor of agenda journalism and thus betrayal of the American public is a far greater crime. Utter contempt is less than they deserve.

“Didn’t you mean socialist? As in:
“Common features and descriptions of behaviors of socialists”? “
    gcotharn
As tempting as it is to agree, I cannot. Socialists may well be more susceptible to the seduction of a sociopath however.

I suspect socialism is (to a lesser degree than communism), a perversion of the human impulse toward communion. If so, truly ironic that a sacred Christian tenet has been perverted and adopted by a ‘philosophy’ which increasingly rejects belief in the divine.

  11. The Valerie Jarrett Administration prefigured in a cartoon (leaving the assignment of roles and geo-political analogs to your imagination).

  12. Isn’t it interesting that our supposed betters in the arts, academia, and intelligentsia can’t spot Obama’s pathologies?

Perhaps Coulter had it right when she said that liberalism is a mental disease.

  13. “Obama is a pathological narcissist.”

    Nicely put.

    Sociopath. Psychopath. Pathological narcissist.

‘Pathological’ from the root word path-ology, which roughly translated I understand to be “the logical path that extends from a dysfunction of the psyche”.

As Mr. Frank so succinctly and wisely stated, “Growing up without a mother and father leaves one with a very small rudder.” that childhood, ‘mentoring’ from a disturbed individual like Frank Marshall at an impressionable age, the “spiritual mentoring” of a racist like the Rev. Wright, political mentoring by the likes of a Bill Ayers, all are profound clues to the disturbed nature of Barry Soetoro aka Barack Hussein Obama’s psyche.

  14. kaba Says (4:00 pm): “Perhaps Coulter had it right when she said that liberalism is a mental disease.”

I thought that was/is Michael Savage.

Or are both making that observation?

  15. M J R,
Savage wrote the book. But I’ve heard Coulter use the phrase and like phrases frequently.

  16. How about blackmail/oppressive/threatening too. I’ve heard that more anti-whistleblower actions have been initiated under Obama and Holder than all past presidents combined. That’s got to have had a chilling effect on anti-Obama political speech.

And that might be part of the late momentum against Obama. The radical gay, radical Muslim, radical green, radical occupy, radical radical has kind of wearied the “wish I could return to life” American, “but if you force me, then I’m gonna do the job right.” There’s fury and with any other candidate other than Romney, I doubt that fury would be so withheld and sublimated.

I saw a coffee cup from 7-11 with a Romney ad that says “Romney 7-ELECTION” and has an elephant underneath.

  17. No doubt Obama would be extremely “OFFENDED” by this post.

Well it appeas many of us are offended by Mr Offended.

  18. I agree with Geoffrey Britain and others, and I have often posted here, that BHO is a supreme narcissist and a deep seeded sense of inferiority due to the childhood trauma of an absent father and a pathetic excuse of a mother. However, there are plenty of people who have faced far more traumatic circumstances and have overcome them to become an honest, solid, and compassionate human being.

He has, with the connivence of the MSM, become the prime threat to national security and the traditional values of America. He has to be sent packing, which I think will happen. Otherwise, we are in for a real struggle.

  19. The combination of ignorance and arrogance in Obama is simply astounding. What’s even more astounding is that he managed to leverage–what? The color of his skin and an ability to lie with complete ease?–into the highest office in our country.

I will never understand what people continue to see in him, what possibly there can be of any draw or any merit. I can’t fathom why anyone with any brain cells continues to support the man.

Now I’m waiting to see what Gloria Allred attempts to vomit up in order to destroy Romney’s presidential run. She managed to bring down Meg Whitman and Herman Cain, I have no doubt that she’ll unearth some scandalous refuse and toss it to an eager media in service of Obama. I’ll give it to her though; she is as despicable as they come and does not pretend to be otherwise, unlike Obama himself.

  20. “Now I’m waiting to see what Gloria Allred attempts to vomit up in order to destroy Romney’s presidential run.”

Many decades of Pol Pot worship?

  21. N-Neocon…In answer to your last 2-questions: No and NO.

No wonder that the, now, Second Worst President in a hundred years is so giddy and off his meds(Jimmah Cawtah)..! He’s even criticizing The Boy King for not being flabby enough on the Mideast!!

    CANNOT make this Poop up,’Yo.

  22. Gloria the “All Red” POS attempts her greatest triumph. May she perish in a shallow grave whilst the corrupt men she has enabled spit on it.

Allred, channelling the spent and bitter ex-wife of the now rich Staples owner, intends to unseal divorce records (transcripts) which include Romney’s testimony.

Unsealed.divorce.records. Where has that happened before.

Allred.using.inuendo. Where has that happened before.

But one of the pleasures of backing a man with integrity is that integrity means the whole of the man is fine. There are no secrets to uncover. There are only lies to make.

May the ghosts of “Ghost” (remember the last scene) rise up and carry this fiend, liar, cheat, and murderer to her proper place.

  23. .

    You missed one:

The Flexibiity to get his head up his ass while retaining his foot in his mouth.

    .

  24. Geoffrey: if the persistent rumors coming out of Chicago’s gay community, plus the testimony of one Larry Sinclair (see his National Press Club briefing) are true, then no, Obama has not exhibited any particular interest in affairs outside his marriage — with women.

He is, however, an habitue of the club “Man’s Country,” along with his buddy Rahm Emmanuel.

So the portrait of a psychopath is complete.

  25. Footnote: did anyone else notice the gelid hatred in his eyes when he stared at Romney in the debate on Monday?

Romney is the embodiment, the personification of everything Barry Soetoro was brought up, by his communist, self-loathing whitey mother, to hate.

  26. I noticed the death stare; The hideousness of the man beggars belief and I agree with your analysis, Beverly.

  27. Seems i recall hearing about another hideous Chicago sociopath that was mysteriously admired and respected by otherwise normal people.

    Al Capone.

  28. StevenH, please don’t insult Big Al (Capone). My grandfather said you could walk up to the guy, explain you had a hard week and he would be glad to take out his wallet and hand over a few dollars.

  29. As for Obama’s craziness, let’s give credit to where credit is due. The nature of his associates was known in 2008, his emotional problems where clear to anyone with real life experience. His intellectual prowess was obvious when he compared Al-Qaeda to the Soviet Union. But the public for some reason preferred someone with no moral compass, experience, and with clear emotional problems. The guilty party is the electorate of 2008.

The deserves some blame but not as much as generally given. Indeed when Palin became VP nominee and before the economy tanked the Repubs were ahead in spite of media hysteria. There was simply something wrong with the electorate in 2008 and until we identify it and correct for it there will be other sweet talking nutcases like Obama moving into positions of power.

BTW I hate to say this but even if Romney does initially carry Ohio he will lose it once the Dems start recounting ballots, like the Al Franken race in Minnesota. So Obama will probably be re-elected. Being a psychopath has its advantages.

  30. Bob from Virginia: there’s one difference between Minnesota and Ohio that could make a difference. The state officials such as Secretary of State and Attorney General in Minnesota are Democrats, whereas in Ohio they are Republicans.

  31. Bob, yes the MSM deserves some blame, but, that “something wrong with the electorate”, in 2008 was G.W. Bush. With the massive debt he left us and protracted war, he gave us Barry Sortero, aka, Barack Hussein Obama. He was the poster boy, the epitome of everything the left detests about the right in America. The electorate just could not imagine going forward with the Bush agenda. (and of course, McCain was a terrible candidate).

On the other hand, Mr. Sotero, who is the poster boy and epitome of everything the right hates about liberals and statism is about to send this same electorate running for the sanity and security of the grown ups.

  32. I have always thought Obama was, well, not a nice man , and have been mystified that so many of my friends cannot see this clear fact. It is most likely far worse than that, and I also suspect malignant narcissism and — even a spot of sociopathy, and the recent Libya mess and his recent lies, only magnify this suspicion. Something is off about this man, and that’s the gist of it. The way he handled the last debate with Romney was pretty horrid, the death stare and the condescension and yes, the anger. The anger was way out of line with anything said by Romney.

We have got to get this man out of office. The executive orders and the “kill list” (I am all for a strong fight against the war on radical Islam however… this is unchecked power) and — NDAA, all of that scares me. I sometimes just think the guy is a bumbler, but he does have that mean side.

I also agree Neo that the Alice Palmer betrayal laid his character out right away. I noticed that when I was still a Democrat. That really cemented the intuition I had that this guy was bad news.

  33. Oops, I meant I am all for a strong fight against radical Islam, not against the war on radical Islam… I guess I should proofread! Heh. I think you get the picture.
