CBS could have proved that Obama refused to call Benghazi “terrorism” — 20 Comments

  1. I hope they pursue it even if Obama loses. Keep the pressure on until he is forced from public life.

  2. Steve: Obama will never resign unless the Democrats turn on him and demand it. And they will not do so, if past performance is any guide. That’s not what they do (and besides, that would give as a Biden presidency–yikes! Although I think that would be preferable to an Obama one).

Nixon resigned because he knew that Republicans had turned against him, if I’m remembering correctly.

  3. neo, I was thinking post presidency. If the facts come out, he stands little chance of coming back politically. He will be Jimmy Carter redux.

  4. A close friend here in Atlanta ( also a conservative) observed that the only people paying any attention to this today are PLU ( people like us)…

Like I said a few threads back:

If Obama wins, this will dog him until the end of his next term. If he loses, it will probably fade and be swept under the rug by the MSM types as they focus their energies on trying to discredit Mitt Romney’s presidency.

  5. The internet and the foreign press are going to surprise all… and make it fester into the open.

  6. If Obama wins, this will dog him until the end of his next term. If he loses, it will probably fade and be swept under the rug by the MSM types as they focus their energies on trying to discredit Mitt Romney’s presidency.

No, not sweep it under the rug.

What did Romney know, and when did he know it? Secret deal with al Qaeda? October surprise?? It is the seriousness of the charge that warrants an investigation!

  7. Nohing surprises me anymore!

I’m very nervous about tomorow. Very, Very Nervous! Despite many — which include those of th highly experienced and knowledgeable like Michael Barone predictions — that are pretty certain for Romney (from those that predict that to G-ds ears!) so many polls continue to show Obama a point or few ahead.

I don’t understand it. I’m considered to be a logical, rational person. And damned if I can figure out how any rational person can vote for O. Can’t figure it out at all! I even know highly educated, and pretty wealthy and very successful people who support Obama, and I don’t get that. Some of them do live in the bubble of extreme weath and their lifestyles are not affected in any way no matter what happens. Some vote for him because of his social policies and I can even understand those with differing social agendas who are for women’s choice, gay marriage, some kind of gun control as re: assault weapons — but I don’t consider these things to be the great issues of our time that form the basis for choosing a President. (I know, different strokes for different folks, but….) I find this especially depressing when the economy is the way it is, and we now have a man in the White House who doesn’t give a damn. (According to his actions as opposed to his rhetoric).

Power is Obama’s motivation mixed in with his belief that we are fundamentally an “unjust” people. However, the former overrides everything else. It clearly is not the welfare of the people of this country. And the MSM aligns with O ideologically and abdicates all responsibility for reporting news. Straight news is almost an anachronism.

And with the lucky-for-O distraction of Sandy, he has gotten away with murder (literally, as I see it even if he didn’t commit the crimes with his own hand). But then, he didn’t kill Bin Laden with his own hand, either, and he hasn’t crowed louder about anything. With Benghazi, there is no question that Obama and his entire Administration has lied to all our faces and ordered his Administration to do the same — and even with the significant discoveries and reporting by Fox, it just seems to disappear into the air. It is huge! I cringed when, following some of the key disclosures, Obama was on the stump saying “You know me. You know I’m transparent, I have nothig to hide…” in the most casual demeanor. And these people don’t think twice! And after 4 years of reality proving to them that “Hope and Change” was nothing more than a rhetorical jingle, they still trust this guy.

Personally, I think Romney made a huge mistake by not touching this issue — espec. after Depate 2 when Candace Crowley covered for the President and he smugly shoved Crowley’s defense in Romney’s face, with the glee of a 10-year-old school boy knowing he got away with the lie.

Besides all of Obama’s shortcomings, he and his team are corrupt and dangerous in the worst way because they believe through and through that this is the way politics work and it is the way things get done. And unimpeded by inconvenient truth and facts, they carry out their agenda which is, as Obama proudly announced when he won his election,” to fundamentally change America.”

I made sure to vote early, and I sure wish I could have voted often! (haha) It certainly would have been very, very easy. I’m in N. Carolina and no I.D. is required. You say your name, they look to see if that name is registereed on the roles. Okey-Dokey. Here’s your paper ballot. No closed booths, no nothing! Yes, this is still one of those communities which leave the cars and the homes unlocked, but voting…? I couldn’t help thinking at the time, and have not been able to get it out of my mind since, that there are dozens of ways to cheat. First, you just hand your ballot in — no folding, no inserting it in a locked box. It is presumed that one of the people will do it for you. And come to think of it — I don’t remember a single person wearing ID to indicate they are officials. Then there’s the tried and true voting by dead people. How easy is it to look up obits and find the names of people who have died in the last year or so. How many of you make it a priority to contact the election commission when a loved one passes away, so the name is removed from the roles? Thinking about this absolutely has made me physically sick. For the most part, this community is made up of very nice, law-abiding citizens and many happen to be conservative. But it has also changed within the last few decades from the sleepy mountain community it once was, to a much bigger city thanks to the immense growth of one of the state universities. And it only takes one or two.

There has also developed quite a large community of Mexicans — illegal immigrants — and while most I’ve met are very nice people, someone with the intent of fraud could easily use them as bodies to vote at the polls.

One last thing: I moved here in the last two years. When I went to get my driver’s license here, upon completing the test, the officer in charge cheerfully informed me that they also automatically register you to vote upon getting your license. How scary is that??!! Poof! Get a driver’s license (just show a utility bill to verify your address) and you can vote!

I’m afraid this has turned into a rant or venting because I don’t understand how easily fraud in voting can be carried out. Until I started thinking about it. And I don’t tend to think about those things — but this business with O started me off in a new direction, and once I started, I couldn’t stop.

I find myself nervous, afraid, and hurt. Yes, hurt — because I was always raised and taught to believe that our power to vote is one of the sacred privileges and duties that distinguishes the U.S. from other countries — even those in which totalitarian dictators have instituted “elections” that are always fixed, but create the belief in some that they are voting for a leader. And the hurt comes from disappointment in truly understanding how easily the system may be manipulated. There are no standardized requirements to vote; no standardized means to determine how the votes will be cast, and counted, and no standardized means of determining the voter is indeed a citizen qualified to vote.

  8. I agree with carl in atlanta, Benghazi is not going away. There will be exhaustive congressional hearings. The truth will come out. In the end, no one, not even Hillary, will be willing to fall on a sword to save the halo around the messiah’s head. Benghazi will become a scandal that the MSM can not ignore. And, Benghazi will taint Obama even after the end of his days. Benghazi (all the lies and misdirection and the willful failure to protect American lives for political purposes) will be a major topic in any historical examination of his presidency 50 or 100 years from now.

  9. csimon,

    Be of good cheer: http://tinyurl.com/bjsrvz7

I’m not a Dick Morris fan but I agree with his assessment.

I agree with your concerns about fraud in the electoral process. It needs to be addressed in a serious manner. But, election fraud will never be eliminated, it can only be limited. Its an endless battle.

  10. neo,

I understand your cynicism, many people feel the same way. However, Benghazi is not Solyndra. Benghazi is not Obamacare. Benghazi is not the Honduras-Zelaya affair. Benghazi is not Chicago style dirty politics. 4 are dead, including an ambassador. Benghazi and the lies after the fact are not going away if BHO squeaks by tomorrow. Team Obama have jumped the shark and shot the albatross. They are a ship of fools headed into the shallows of history.

  11. i think many miss the logic of whats going on…

    socialists hate capitalists..

we have said that the press is for the left, and so logically what would that lead one to think as to their profit motive? ie. they have none, for them the press serves another purpose.

and fox? fox is hated as they are more capitalistic which means they will make money on telling the truth and revealing alternative purpose to a monetary one.

newspapers without a profit motive have no purpose other than propaganda (and minimal survival through providing good information on non political things).

  12. Breitbart, weeks before the 2008 election (quoted from memory):
at this point, if media had irrefutable proof that Obama was an agent of a foreign nation, such as Venezuela, they would not report it.

I thought Breitbart was being hyperbolic. However, CBS News hiding, of Obama’s interview remarks to Steve Kroft, is a decent parallel to what Breitbart said media would do: they would hide the evidence.

  13. And here’s a question – how much grief will CBS get from the rest of the media and punditocracy about “selective editing”? Those pundits excoriated Andrew Breitbart and James O’Keefe for similar journalistics sins, even when it wasn’t true. In this case, when it’s demonstrably true, will the crescendo of criticism rise to the same level, or will there be barely a whimper.

  14. “.. or will there be barely a whimper.”

It will be a tearing of hair and wails of anguish. It will be a beating of heads against the bullet pock marked and mortar blasted walls of Benghazi. This will not fade away into the darkness of progressive night. The MSM can not put Humpty Obama together again. Collectively, they have jumped the shark and shot the albatross.

Ashes, ashes, they all fall down.

  15. Neo: “Obama will never resign unless the Democrats turn on him and demand it. And they will not do so.”

I, for one, would be extremely surprised if the Democrats ever turned on Obama, even after he is gone from the white house. Turning on Obama would be a death sentence for the Democrats as that would alienate most black voters who are voting based upon race. No one dares to criticize Obama as that is automatically seen as “racism.” Turning on Obama will be seen as being far worse – a lynching!

And that would end black support for the Democrats. It doesn’t mean they would start to vote Republican, most just might not vote.

(P.S. and before folks start calling me a racist, I am not refering to ALL blacks, just the “voting block” that most poltical campaigns refer to.)

Further, regardless of the outcome of this election, I do think it is important that Benghazi not be “swept under the rug.” We do need to find out what happened, what the failures were and who failed, and, most importantly, what we (as a nation) are going to do so that it doesn’t happened again. NO Americans should die in a US Embassy or consulate – ever! And certainly not the US Ambassador.

  16. BenghaziGATE will be the test for MSM. If they don’t at least cover it they know that half the nation will never believe a word they say.

That probably has them tied in knots.

    But we’ll see …

  17. Why now? Because it can be overlooked. They can say they were being responsible journalists, but CBS is still the network of Dan Rather.

blert, I think not. The foreign press seems to LOVE Obama more than ours does.

I, too, am nervous. But the pre-post-mortems on the Dem side are encouraging, and I heard Rush say that Stephanie Cutter is saying not to be discouraged by the early exit polling. He also asked, How many discouraged/disappointed Democrats are out there, unhappy though unwilling to say so, who will not vote for Obama, or will vote for Romney? Five or ten percent will make a landslide for Romney.

And did you know Romney is really a gypsy? If you misspell his name Romany.

  18. parker, thanks.
I’m afraid I got carried away and my post became more of a vent of frustrations building for long time.

Apologies to those who waded thru it.

Still I must say ditto to Neo’s comment above:

“parker: boy, do I hope you are correct.
I guess I am more cynical than you.
