Annals of myth-shattering: so Flipper’s a dunce? — 11 Comments

  1. I cjhecked out crows on Wiki the other day because a few have been visiting my neighborhood. It turns out they are pretty smart.

  2. I’m… actually pulling for them… to be less than stellar. Intelligence isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Either it allows you to see you are being lead by idiots, or allows you to become one of the idiots that leads. There really isn’t another option. It doesn’t change teh stupid of the world. *squeak eek eek* Polly wants a smaller brain!

  3. On a whole ‘nother subject: has anyone figured out what the hit will be to their health insurance?

I’m an independent contractor, and I got a letter from my insurance company this weekend saying, “your existing policy will end effective December 3, 2013.” And that we are losing our “professional group” status (hey, there goes our Association! the insurance deal probably accounts for 90% of enrollment).

They direct us to go to (in our case) New York State’s Dept. of Financial Services, where you find a completely confusing chart and table of hotlinks. IF I parse these correctly, there are a lot of people who’ll be forced onto Medicaid — if your taxable income is below a certain amount (and sole proprietors know how that works), you’re NOT eligible for any subsidies: it’s pay the full price, or suck it and go on Medicaid.

So do we pay the penalty tax instead, like Vodkapundit? Weeel, not so fast: then you’d have (if I understand it correctly!) a “non-grandfathered plan,” which costs — brace yourself! TWICE as much as a grandfathered (continuous coverage) plan.

More new hotness: the grandfathered plans, OTOH, Do Not have to have all the Obamacare bells and whistles: e.g., they don’t have to cover pre-existing conditions.

Anyone else looking into all this garbage? I’m livid right now. I’ve never felt herded, like an animal, before.

  4. No I’m not sure.. I didn’t read enough to figure out the difference between ravens and crows, but I’ll read your link now. Thanks.

  5. When I grew up they told me animals are people too.

    Turns out they ‘aint again.

Is there one of these things that doesn’t end up being wrong? There’s no Global Warming. Neither Gorillas nor dogs speak to us. Whales don’t compose music. And Flipper was a TV show for kids – Boomers who were so dumb they grew up without figuring out that he was a fish with tiny teeth on a show for kids and he was not saying “Hello boys and girls; the bad guy is hiding behind the pier” when he lifted his head out of the water.

I take it as a given that whatever “they” say is ipso facto (by mere virtue of “their” saying it) 100% bullyouknowwhat until and unless proven otherwise.

Liars lie. It is what they do. All the time. Liars do not take days off from lying. It is a part of everything they do. What looks like the truth is really the small truths they occasionally tell in the service of a bigger lie. They occasionally “do the right thing but for the wrong reason”.

  6. }}}} Anyone else looking into all this garbage? I’m livid right now. I’ve never felt herded, like an animal, before.

Say, “THANK YOU, Barry! THANK YOU, Nancy! THANK YOU, HARRY!”
