I already liked Scott Walker… — 34 Comments

  1. I love it when the states push back like that.

Scott Walker is a real stand up guy. No doubt he is being threatened with all kinds of withdrawal of federal grants and such. The feds have got their tentacles deep into almost all the states. Takes some backbone to resist them.

  2. Agree completely, JJ. Not trying to diss Cruz or Rand Paul but I like the idea of a governor running for President because they have actually had to run things and make real decisions – a glaring lack in the current POTUS. But not Christie, please!

  3. Hopefully he will be a catalyst for other elected officials to tell Urkel McPutt-Putt that such childish idiocy won’t be tolerated. I’m eagerly awaiting the upcoming Hopenchange Hissy Fit.

  4. He is a sleeper 2016 candidate-in-waiting. He calmly, and legally, goes about doing what he believes is right. The feds despise him, the union heads hate him, most of Madison can’t stand him, and the voters of Wisconsin like him. Go figure.

  5. Madison not being able to stand him is a very good reccomendation to the rest of us Badgers.

  6. “…The feds despise him, the union heads hate him, most of Madison can’t stand him…”

That’s almost enough reason right there to vote for him. Agree that governors tend to make effective presidents. Carter was the exception, but the general rule still holds. Even Bill Clinton, whom I detested, knew how to get things done.

  7. Apparently Obama and company blocked access to the WWII memorial in Normandy and have even barricaded some scenic overlooks on highways here. Shameless….

  8. I can’t help but compare this post, Neo, with the previous one about the Navy Seals.

You see, conservatives don’t mind our tax dollars being spent on important things, such as the Navy Seals and the bad-ass stuff that they NEED to do.

Liberals, on the other hand, seem to believe that if they don’t personally benefit from it then it isn’t worth spending tax dollars on. Hence the reason for “the feds” (i.e., read that as the Democrat-controlled feds) to try to close as much as will be seen by individuals.

And, why oh why, don’t people see right through this play by the Democrats shows that we don’t do a good enough job at teaching critical thinking and analytical skills.

  9. I’m just about the only truly non-partisan person I know out here in the universe of the web.

I’ve agreed with some things Walker has done. That said, I don’t put any trust in any politician. Even the ones I vote for, I turn against as soon as they take office.

I’m a Groucho Marxist. I’m against all of them. No saviors need apply.

  10. “I’m a Groucho Marxist. I’m against all of them. No saviors need apply.”

If no one can satisfy you then you are suggesting anarchy and the law of the jungle.

  11. If no one can satisfy you then you are suggesting anarchy and the law of the jungle.

I look for satisfaction in places other than politics. Politics isn’t the solution to anything.

The law of the jungle always prevails, no matter our efforts to disguise it.

If you want to order society, traditional family and religious structures are best, based as they are on hundreds of generations of human experience.

  12. “Politics isn’t the solution to anything.”

Funny, it worked quite well for the founding fathers.

The law of the jungle always prevails, no matter our efforts to disguise it.”

No, the law of the jungle always exists, to what extent it is able to manifest is entirely the result of how much a society respects the rule of equitable laws.

Traditional family and religious structures are best when supported by a government conducive to those factors, otherwise they are ‘sheep waiting for the shears’.

“I remained unconvinced that the question of who becomes President is of such great importance.”

There’s no persuading a closed mind. The ‘importance’ of a President is entirely a result of three factors; his agenda and his congressional and public support. Given time, sufficient support and the will, such a President can ‘fundamentally transform’ a society into one in which you no longer have the freedom to express your opinion or have the freedom to “look for satisfaction in places other than politics”…

  13. “I’m just about the only truly non-partisan person I know out here in the universe of the web.”

Don’t sprain your wrist patting yourself on the back.

  14. If “the universal nature of humans” was to be “very bad”, civilization would be impossible. Good and evil exist in every human being but the great majority of human beings are mostly law abiding within their society’s cultural norms. Every generation produces a certain percentage who are criminally inclined, which exhibits a spectrum from petty criminality to megalomania. The percentage of law abiding within a society closely parallels how much the society’s culture respects the rule of equitable laws.

I’m a Groucho Marxist. I’m against all of them. No saviors need apply.

    Like this, you mean.

  16. Back to the rule of law again. Laws can certainly be asinine and once the necessity for anything beyond the golden rule is needed, bad laws are certain to emerge. That said, to condemn all laws is to, in effect insist that ‘might makes right’ and that logic, reason and common sense are superfluous. In the chaotic environment you favor (by categorically stating that “the law is an ass” and always has and will be) the barbarism and inhumanity of man is greatly increased. Anyone in favor of that is an enemy of both God and mankind.

You may protest that not to be your intent but that is the result of what you advocate and assert to be true.

  17. I like how Walker went the ‘act first and answer questions later’ approach. Now it’s the NPS & Obama Admin who will be forced to respond (not knowing if Walker will have state police intervene). Seems the state officials who attempted to negotiate to keep things open, such as Mt. Rushmore, were rebuffed.

Obama is all about flexing his power, whether it’s defying the constitution to go around Congress or harassing/punishing citizens who disagree with him. This is why Congress and governors need to stop giving in and start push back forcefully.

  18. I agree with all the praise heaped onto Gov. Walker and wish he could be POTUS as well. But the unions hate him the way Muslims hate the “Zionist entity.” If Walker runs, the unions will have a hate frenzy that will make the attacks on Gov. Palin look like a love song.

  19. If the appellation fits, you must accept what your own words have asserted.

Advocating the POV that ALL law is bad is implicitly advocating for the ‘law’ of the jungle, where the only law is what you can seize and hold. There is no mercy in that jungle, no consideration for others.

It is for brutality incarnate that you advocate and your unwillingness to acknowledge the obvious, changes it not a bit.

You would do well to read A Man for All Seasons and particularly reflect upon Sir Thomas More’s view of the law and its abrogation in pursuit of the devil.

  20. I’ve decided I want to move to WI; I just have to figure out how to get there and how to make a living there-and no, I don’t want to live in Madison. I would like to get away from liberal academia.

  21. I’ve felt since his successful campaign to loosen the deathgrip that Wisconsin unions wished to maintain and his convincing victory in the ensuing recall election, that he may have a good chance to get the 2016 nomination.

Even though Walker hasn’t been in the spotlight nearly so much as Christie or those on Capitol Hill, he just may have a leg up on the field in the first major event of the primary campaign, the caucus in neighboring Iowa.

  22. The affirmative action nincompoop-in-chief is acting out his hatred for this country. The left won’t see it that way, at least in part because so many of them also hate their country.

He’s lashing out indiscriminately, even inconveniencing people who are his supporters, in the sense that there are bound to be many obamatons among the inconvenienced. He figures they’ll blame it all on the Darth Vader Party, so let ’em be inconvenienced.

The man is becoming unhinged. (Before, he was merely narcissistic, spiteful, and mendacious.) The man is becoming seriously unhinged. It’s getting scary.

How does one rationally interact with someone in that condition (ask John Boehner)?

  23. The Left was always evil and crazy. They are still evil and crazy. They always will be evil and crazy. Absolutely nothing has changed, except that some people now can’t cover their eyes at the truth.

  24. It’s a tragic irony that the many of the people who justifiably fear private monopolies, will invite, with open arms, an authoritative monopoly or practices.

  25. That’s because so long as they get profits, they don’t care which company owns it. Their chief problem with corporations was that the corps wouldn’t give them a cut of the profits. But google is god somehow.

  26. Commercial properties must conform to zoning laws and can include provisions set forth inside Americans with Disabilities Act.
Disposition ‘ The sale of products, including commercial, residential, and industrial.
Its current portfolio includes a diverse range of properties in Alabama,
Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas,
    Tennessee and also other states.
