Welcoming 2014

I like the look of the year so much better: “2014″ is prettier than “2013.” And yes, that’s very numberist of me.

Fresh start. Clean slate. Even rather than odd. And right now I’m doing the two huge loads of laundry I’ve put off for a while.

And since I don’t drink, I don’t even have a hangover.

How about you?

In case you get writer’s block anytime this year, here are some possible silly inspirations. Look at April 22.

    Happy New Year, Neo

We survived 2000. We survived 2012. 2013 we survived, and the Chinese did not like that year at all.

    2014?

    The West returns.

Just staggered up out of sleep after last night surprise celebrations and am phoning friends and loved ones to welcome them to the new year….. but now I am reminded I have a large load of yesterevenings laundry I have to put in the dryer.,… see you….

  4. dicentra Says:

All of the non-zero digits of 2013 are prime numbers.

    That made it cool.

    2014 is pedestrian and boring.

    Laundry and football here.

  8. FOAF Says:

Maybe 2014 looks good. But the last 14, 1914, didn’t turn out so hot.

  9. Sam L. Says:

13 was a rotten number for the USA.

  10. FOAF Says:

“13 was a rotten number for the USA.”

Shouldn’t be. Thirteen original states, reflected in the thirteen stripes still on the flag. If you’re talking about Obama, it’s been rotten since 2009.

  11. Matt_SE Says:

    “2014?

    The West returns.”

    …and this time, it’s *personal*.

It is of some interest what is going on now in Serbia? Is it much different than 100 years ago? Or there is a disgrunted nationalist waiting to put the world history on a very different track?

About Me

Previously a lifelong Democrat, born in New York and living in New England, surrounded by liberals on all sides, I've found myself slowly but surely leaving the fold and becoming that dread thing: a neocon.
