Blame, rudeness, racial divisiveness: it worked so well for Obama… — 16 Comments

  1. Prediction: de Blasio will try to institute the socialist agenda in earnest, while “unexpectedly” growing wealthy in the process. When his agenda fails, as we know it will, he will benefit from that Wall-Street-esque golden parachute.

If NYC manages to hold on for 2-3 years, he will be used to protect Hillary’s left flank. If NYC tanks before then, socialism/hard-leftism will take yet another mortal blow and Hillary’s left flank won’t need protecting. She will then run as a “centrist.”

  2. So New York city now becomes Detroit on steroids. Rudy Giuliani must be shaking his head and asking why he even bothered.

  3. It seems that ever since Obama’s election the Left has felt quite comfortable letting the mask slip. And if Obama, Reid & Pelosi has acted this way for 5+ years, is it any surprise that other Lefties are following suit?

  4. re: Lizzy’s point,

The closer the left gets to the ‘brass ring’, the harder it is to keep the mask on. Deception has its own challenge. The less the appearance of necessity, the harder to maintain the charade and, for the hard left, it is entirely a charade.

“Professional liberals are too arrogant to compromise. In my experience, they  were also very unpleasant people on a personal level. Behind their slogans about saving the world and sharing the wealth with the common man lurked a nasty hunger for power. They’d double-cross their own mothers to get it or keep it.”   – Harry S Truman, from a 1970 interview

  5. If the NYT considers de Blasio’s inauguration oratory “pointless and tacky haranguing” it must of been a doozy since de Blasio was anointed by WJC with HRC by his side. Another speech in a long list that I am happy to have missed.

  6. New York is starting the slide down into the same civic failures that Giuliani cleaned up on his watch as mayor. It’s a city that seems to go thorough cycles of good and bad governance. It’s always been saved by the fact that it is such a financial and media center. With new technologies the banks, brokerages, insurance c, and media companies may yet decide move to greener pastures.

  7. JJ, Rudy performed the role of Margaret Thatcher. He temporarily slowed or reversed the cancer, AIDS went into remission too. But the Left will never give up. The Left will always come back. Because it is a terminal illness.

  8. In my estimation, the right has never taken advantage of opportunities to drive the stake through the heart of leftism.

Detroit is a great example. Republicans should hammer the left over that disaster continuously. All candidates should be asking their constituents if they want to “end up like Detroit.”

Since the MSM ignores all but the highest-level Republicans, they end up being the only ones with the opportunity to get the message out. That’s why Boehner and McConnell are feckless as leaders: they can’t speak, they don’t have any fire, they probably couldn’t give a recitation of conservative thought.

That’s why they need to go. That’s why Ted Cruz is so popular.

  9. Republicans don’t touch Detroit mostly because they aren’t Breitbarts. They see the Left as merely extremists, as David Brin claimed. Minority extremists and ideologues that don’t impact the central Democrat constituency and leadership. The Democrat leadership that the Republicans like to work with. Bipartisanship and all that.

  10. Two points on the subject of DeBlasio’s odd first edict, eliminating New York City’s traditional horse drawn carriages, because this operation was “inhumane” to the horses.

First, what does DeBlasio think is going to be the future of these now “surplus” horses which, from appearances, were hardly valuable contenders for the Triple Crown?

Without any income from carriage rides, can their current owners afford to take care of them? Does DeBlasio have a rich philanthropist with a horse farm lined up? Are all these horses going to be transported to some fabulous retirement farm somewhere, where all their (expensive) needs for exercise, food, shelter, and veterinary care will be taken care of, or are they more likely to be headed straight for the glue factory?

Second, a commenter on a website I happened to browse through (I haven’t been able to find it again), who apparently has some inside knowledge, claimed that this whole horse drawn carriage business had nothing much to do with the welfare and treatment of the horses, so much as it had to do with the fact that a big DeBlasio donor has long had designs on the land where these horses are stabled, which he wants to buy and to build on.

  11. Does DeBlasio have a rich philanthropist with a horse farm lined up?

No, but he does have a corporate sponsor.

What the Left says, is never what they mean. It used to be true 99% of the time. Now it’s true 100% of the time.

Assume they are corrupt, then finding the money becomes easier. What most people do is assume incompetence, stupidity, or some combination of good old boy mistakes.

  12. When NYC turns into a hellhole, as it surely will in the not too distant future, who will be the Devil blamed for this predictable destruction?

My bet is we will hear relentless Chavez/Maduro type propaganda blaming various boogie men for deliberate sabotage, with some Koch-like individuals singled out for vicious campaigns of hate and personal destruction.

I will be following this possibility with considerable interest, especially to see how soon it starts.

  13. The problem with assuming the Left are just mistaken, is that a person no longer plans for the worst while hoping for the best.

If a person thinks the Left is harmless or just a political party that “moderates” don’t agree with, those people will plan for the best, and also hope for the best. Or even plan for the best while expecting the worst.

Entire communities will be rendered dust and destroyed at this rate. Like the community at the WACO compound, due to ATF and FBI sociopaths in charge. Like the cult of Jim Jones, due to the sociopathic tendencies of the Left.
