Michael Totten in Cuba — 7 Comments

  1. Cuba, N Korea are the extreme ends of the societal spectrum that atheism leads to because rejection of any ‘higher power’ than man’s opinion inescapably leads to the end result of communism. The perfect marriage of the power hungry and collectivism.

“The maximum wage–is it the ultimate goal of the left?”

I suspect that the ‘maximum wage’ is not the goal but the consequence of the left’s beliefs.

$20 a month. I wish that Totten had made clear whether this was strictly for an individual or for families as well.

Almost half the world – over three billion people – live on less than $2.50 a day

    $20 / 30 days = is .66 cents per day…

Of course, those on the left blame the US embargo, as if trade with the rest of the world isn’t an option.

Nor does a US embargo explain the starving cows Totten describes amid an abundance of grass. Explanation; the cows are being severely limited in their grazing. Communism is the world’s foremost death cult. NYC’s de Blasio, its latest champion.

  2. In the early part of WW2 there was an elite USMC unit known as the Raiders. Actually I recall there were East and West coast Raiders, the East being Edson’s Raiders and the West being Carlson’s.

Carlson was a hard leftist, as were many of his Raiders. At least some had served in the Spanish Civil War. Carlson used to have political discussions with his men, and once proposed the idea of a maximum income of $35k as part of the post-war utopia. His second in command was FDR’s son, and the unit enjoyed the benifit of whateve weapons they wanted due to that connection.

USMC did not like the Raiders, mostly because they felt all marines were elite and eventually disbanded them using the argument that ordinary marines could do the same job.

  3. The “food police.” Bloomberg would love the place. I’ll bet obesity isn’t much of a problem. I’d like to see their health records. Is being deprived of enough high quality food healthy for them? Inquiring minds would like to know.

It’s too bad someone can’t make a documentary about Cuba and show it all over the USA. Things are not wonderful on many Caribbean islands, but anyone who has visited some of them would grasp, I hope, why Communism is such an unworkable, nay, evil economic system.

For 53 years this gulag has existed only 106 miles from Key West. It gives me a great sense of sadness that those poor people on that nearby island have had to suffer under this malignant form of tyranny. What a monument to man’s inhumanity to man.

  4. “The maximum wage–is it the ultimate goal of the left?” Of course it is. The ideology of the Left enslaves not only people at large, but especially it’s believers. It’s not a matter of “we should do this for the good of the people”, but rather “this must be done for the good of the people”. This is why people who are waiting for people on the Left to wake up and face the reality of their actions are always amazed that they don’t. So to implement their program they have to make people eat right, spend right, feel right, think right, etc. The list is (like people and their behaviour) actually infinite, which is in reality the fatal flaw to their plans. You can’t do enough, spend enough, enslave enough, or kill enough to control infinity.

  5. You could certainly see your skills within the article you write.
The arena hopes for even more passionate writers such as you who are not
afraid to mention how they believe. At all times go after your heart.
