Thanks for reminding me I need to dust off my 6 CD set of Sarah Vaughan recordings. And a warm (at least in your heart) Valentine to our hostess and those who comment at neoneocon. I have a dinner date with my sweety at our favorite Thai place and then a movie (Monument Men).

Neo, this was very sweet. Thank you!

Julie London…..Aaaahhhhhhhhh…. When I was starting out in the Fil’um Bidness at Universal I used to see her often as she was working as a regular cast member on her X-husband’s (Jack Webb) TV Series, “Emergency”, with her then husband (can’t remember his name)…. Aaaahhhhhhhh….

  4. Lurch Says:

Thank you for sparing us the Streisand version!

  5. Beverly Says:

Every time I hear this song, I think of what a sad little guy Larry Hart was. It’s his cri de coeur.

  6. rickl Says:

Then there’s also Elvis Costello’s version:

    My Funny Valentine

But this is really more my speed: Two Little Hitlers

  7. Gringo Says:

I had never heard Carmen McRae’s version before. I am more accustomed to hearing Carmen McRae “talk” through her songs, which is probably the consequence of aging vocal cords. Her version of “My Funny Valentine” is the best I have ever heard Carmen sing.

    What a song.

  8. Mr. Frank Says:

Linda Ronstadt had a strong voice and a great career. Her CD with Nelson Riddle (What’s New) has some of the better classics. Age and health have not gone well for her.

About Me

Previously a lifelong Democrat, born in New York and living in New England, surrounded by liberals on all sides, I've found myself slowly but surely leaving the fold and becoming that dread thing: a neocon.
