When Ryan says it, it’s racism. When Obama says it… — 28 Comments

  1. “any time a Republican says something he’s guilty until proven innocent.”

neo, neo, neo. A Republican, much less a conservative, can’t be proven innocent, that’s impossible. By definition, we are guilty. The particular crime doesn’t matter because we are guilty of rejecting their ideology, the greatest crime there can be.

“I haven’t thought of 4-5-year-olds as innocent in a long, long while.”

Naive me, I still do think of them as innocent. Then again I haven’t been around 4-5 yr olds in over 20 years.

But…today on the radio I heard a relevant factoid. Lots of 4-5 year olds are being suspended from kindergartens. Turns out that half of the ones suspended are black. Black 4-5 yr olds comprise 18% of that demographic group. I wonder if lack of parenting and a father has anything to do with it?

  2. I’m sorry, but behavior is as irrelevant to your unconditional obligation to self-sacrifice in the name of a universally shared fate and human solidarity, as any other trait.

You behavior bigots, in your selfish dedication to your own psychological balance and physical well-being, would like to think otherwise. But it is not so.

You exist for the other, who is not other at all. In sacrificing yourself, you help yourself. So shut up, lie down, and get with the program.

  3. “It’s even defined as racist to suggest that black students may be suspended at higher rates because a higher percentage of them exhibit behavior that is actually unacceptable in the classroom….

This is a part of the game plan to keep blacks on the leftist plantation. It does black youth a great disservice by signaling that society expects you to behave in an unacceptable manner and there will be consequences. It also reinforces the idea that education is a ‘white thing’. After all, who needs education when the social programs prove the basics, including a cell phone, without the need to work?

“I wonder if lack of parenting and a father has anything to do with it?”

We all know the answer, but the answer is not PC.

  4. Good thing he didn’t talk about black-on-black crime, the numbers are horrendous, mostly young men ages 15 to 25. The lynching parties would be out in the streets.

  5. “It also reinforces the idea that education is a ‘white thing’.”

My wife works in a public school (adjunct faculty) and she will confirm that much of this poor attitude is created by the self-esteem and entitlement cultures (for both black and white students) coupled with the fact that disciplinary powers have been absolutely removed from teachers and subject to a Byzantine bureaucracy for administrators. What we enable we get more of; what we do not dissuade we get more of.

The sad thing is, I believe, that many of the people who harbor and enable this attitude can be reached. The largest proponents of charter schools (take the recent NYC dust-up with DeBlasio) are the low-income families who want to make use of them. The message that education is selling out to a white culture is prevalent because there is no one out there explaining that it is not “selling out,” but “buying in” to a system that encourages success. IMO these folks are readily accepting of such a message; the fact that its true only intensifies it.

  6. The Democrat funded KKK, a deviation of the original aims of NBedford Forest, has done a hard, critically acclaimed job of ensuring that blacks don’t exist that support Republicans.

Black on black crime is merely the Democrat’s slaves on the plantation keeping order amongst the rowdy wannabe rebels. Somebody has to do it.

By keeping violence into a sharp armed edge in sub standard communities, the Left can keep blacks preying on blacks, a great way to Sustain a Plantation system.

  7. The disparate impact standard is a core platform for the Left that conforms to their Marxist zero-sum worldview. For them, inequality that disfavors their clients can only be solved by the structurally normative replacement of the dominant class – make the first ones now to later be last.

The progressive solution would be rising to the social standards with improved socialization. Marxists aren’t progressive. The Marxist solution is to replace the social standards with standards that conform to their client class.

On the same line, see the NAACP’s current zealous campaign to replace the stipulated race-neutral, objective math/English/logic-based SHSAT entrance exam and rank-order admissions for NYC’s elite exam schools (Stuyvesant, Bronx Science, Brooklyn Tech, plus 5 newer ones since I graduated from HS) with subjective “multi-measures” admissions with the express purpose of enforcing a predetermined race-based ratio of students at the exam schools.

There is a bill now in the education committees of the NYS Senate and Assembly, and civil rights complaints under review in the education departments at the city, state, and federal levels.

It’s common sense that their campaign to normalize the disparate impact standard is harmful to individuals, both their clients and others, and destructive to our society over-all, but they are fanatical in their pursuit of it and zealous in striking down common-sense objections to their campaign.

Appeals to common sense and the greater good won’t stop their march to convert our society. Only competitive Marxist-method activism in the arena can counter them.

  8. You need to spend some time with homeschooled children Neo. You will find innocence, manners and pre-K students reading at 5th grade levels.

  9. Neo: “Racism is defined by the messenger, not the message.”

Right, because theirs is principally client-based advocacy, not principle-based reform.

They’re like litigation attorneys zealously advocating for clients, but taken out of the controlled parameters of the courtroom and projected onto society without rules of evidence and bar enforcement of ethical conduct.

Zealous advocacy of clients is not about a shared inquiry of principled right or wrong for the greater common good. It’s about competition and Ryan is opposing counsel. It’s about winners and losers in the zero-sum slicing of the pie.

  10. I wouldn’t think to use the word “innocent”, but still, those numbers are amazing. What do you have to do to get suspended from preschool?

  11. Zealous advocacy of clients is not about a shared inquiry of principled right or wrong for the greater common good. It’s about competition and Ryan is opposing counsel. It’s about winners and losers in the zero-sum slicing of the pie.

This was put quite succinctly by (if you’ll forgive me) Vanessa Redgrave many years ago on some TV talk show I was watching. When asked what the goal of her revolutionary ideas was she said it was to make sure that those on the bottom would become those on the top. Period, full stop.

  12. Nick asked: What do you have to do to get suspended from preschool?

Maybe chew a Pop Tart into the shape of a gun? That got an 8-year-old boy in Maryland suspended from school.

  13. T: “The largest proponents of charter schools (take the recent NYC dust-up with DeBlasio) are the low-income families who want to make use of them.

Many students, especially the Asian Americans, attending NYC’s exam schools are from low-income families, too. The problem is, their votes count the same, they’re smaller voting blocs, and they’re less organized (or barely at all) as activists.

There’s more and easier political profit to be incited from envy, greed, covetousness, and resentment than self-improvement.

  14. B Hussein O sent his kids to private school.

He ensured that poor families were denied vouchers or taxation breaks, forcing their kids into public school.

That’s intentional, but few understand why it is.

  15. Racism is determined by the potential leverage extracted from exploiting a situation. This is left-wing politics. This is Democrat politics. Something more agnostic is simply politics.

  16. re: democratic politics

With over 90% of Blacks voting consistently for Democrats, there will never be a time when anyone other than a Democrat will be able to offer constructive criticism. This democratic prejudice is further exacerbated when the power brokers of this voting bloc are Democrat appointees.

Oh, well. All is fair in politics and abortion. Morality is an archaic concept which occasionally rears its inconvenient head.

  17. Given the large differences between blacks and whites, The last thing you would expect to find is similar discipline records. The black violent crime rate is seven times the white rate. Black children overwhelmingly come from single parent homes. Black children are much more likely to come from a poverty household. The average black IQ is fifteen points lower than the white IQ. Black children are much more likely to have a teenage parent. Black children are much more likely to have a poorly educated parent.

How could black and white children have the same behavior patterns and academic records? They don’t.

  18. The real reason the Left keeps blacks down and angry is the same reason that a creep who keeps dogs for fighting abuses them and keeps them half-starved: so he can “sic” them on the enemy, namely, us.

They keep this whole machinery in motion to “weaponize” the black community, to use them and threats of violence or protests or boycotting, or hell, just sheer hatred to keep anyone from opposing Leftist power.

Everything the Left does reduces to this: how can they get and keep their drug of choice? Always look to see how some scumbag move of theirs serves to maintain and augment their power.

  19. Point is, if they REALLY gave a damn about those people, they would encourage them to get on the stick and start making lives for themselves, start creating their own version of the American Dream. And then get out of their way.

There is also the inconvenient truth revealed by the IQ tests: they’re starting behind the 8 ball intellectually, but we’re not supposed to notice that. Interesting. Human groups vary on every other metric, why not intelligence? (Yeah, I know, shut up!)

  20. ” . . . the Obama administration issued guidance encouraging schools to abandon what it described as overly zealous discipline policies that send students to court instead of the principal’s office.”

Yea, the whole nation saw how well that worked in the Treyvon Martin case, did we?

If Treyvon had been properly disciplined; that is treated with more serious punishment for his having the burglary tools and drug paraphernalia in his school locker; maybe, just maybe, he wouldn’t have been out looking for trouble and gotten himself killed.

No, it is much easier for some folks to blame others, especially whites, for their own troubles than to take responsibility for their own lives and their own children.

  21. What’s interesting to me is how easily the school administrations are manipulated. Here you have a letter from the president intruding into not just curriculum, but how to deal with unruly children, and it’s taken seriously by schools. Whether it’s fear of losing funding, or just blind allegiance, it makes little difference- the people administering the public school systems are more dangerous to a free society than any other single entity.

  22. Someone asked how you get suspended from preschool. Things like biting or punching a classmate would do it. Assaulting a teacher would make the cut. Then there is sex play in the coat room. Destroying school property or stealing from classmates might get you time off.

We all come into this world as little barbarians. It is up to parents, relatives, and community to civilize us. My first grade at a Catholic school had 60 students and no behavior problems. All the adults in my neighborhood were responsible and well behaved in public. Every house had two parents.

If many of the adults in your neighborhood are ill behaved you pick up bad behaviors.

  23. http://reason.com/blog/2014/03/20/student-suspended-for-taking-razor-blade

There’s a way to get expelled.
The stupidity of educrats seems to be boundless. How these morons are going to apply Arne Duncan’s suggestion, backed up by Eric Holder, makes for extraordinarily depressing thinking.

It’s also labeled “open season on Asians”, as was the case in, iirc, a Philly high school.

My dtr took a two-thirds pay cut and sells jewelry on the side to get out of a school whose demographic was becoming what is known as “Katrina kids”, after she was assaulted twice. Things are not good in that school and a number of her erstwhile colleagues have also left.

  24. I think the current trend of telling black boys and men to man up and take care of their kids is the wrong approach. As long as there are girls out there willing to put out for what she considers a cool guy, not much will change. We have to go after the girls. Stop putting them into the poor single mom category. They are the ones who open their legs for any guy with the right sneakers. They got pregnant because they wanted to, without even thinking about the child they would have. They are the ones who can’t put two sentences together or add up their bills. As Michelle Obama even recognizes now, they are the ones who can’t cook for their kids or read to them. They are the ones who didn’t look around for a good boy and wait until they were old enough to care for a child before having sex. They didn’t set any standards for the potential fathers of their children.

I’m not letting the boys off the hook, but I’m sick of the poor single mom victim BS. Someone needs to speak honestly to all these kids. And yes, this is a big problem of the inner cities , because too many kids are growing up never seeing alternative behaviours.

  25. expat,

For the Left, and I’ll include liberals with this, faulting women for social problems is now disallowed by feminist political correctness. See the stigma on “shaming”, ie, slut-shaming, fat-shaming, etc..

In the school order and discipline issue, add PC guidelines on racial crimethink to the feminist prohibitions on criticizing women for socially harmful choices and behavior.

The causes of the problem are obvious, but those causes have been preemptively, politically correctly removed from the prescription.

So, a nonsensical, malignant social policy is conceived whose only benefit is codified power over education at the earliest ages given to the Left.
