No, I don’t think so

No one should wear this dress. It’s just not possible to compete with it:

Perhaps the only proper use of the dress would be as camouflage in a scene like this:

And I don’t understand the rationale for the short underskirt: ugly and awkward.

  2. Jim Miller Says:

ACM stands for lots of different organizations; for academic software types, it stands for the Association for Computing Machinery, the most prestigious organization for folks with computer science PhDs.

I suppose this must be a different ACM — but those initials sure gave me a start when I saw them.

  3. Molly NH Says:

might make a nice cover or a toss pillow !

  4. leigh Says:

    Is she wearing bobby socks?

  5. Ymarsakar Says:

What kind of dress is that?

  6. Gospace Says:

A matter of taste. I think she pulls it off. Looks good on her. IMHO.

I know I’m not up on things, but still. Who is that? And why doesn’t everyone think that is a most silly looking dress?

“This is going to be a contentious position, but we like Shawna Thompson‘s poppy-covered tulle dress by Yanina Haute Couture a lot.”

It works for her — in that industry.

It’s a sort of pseudo-nude look — which is apparently all the rage.

  9. Doom Says:

I don’t know, Neo. Twere I a woman, and wanted to sort of not be seen while being present, that dress would work like a charm. Good for “fat days” and shy days. But… I’m Doom, so… ymmv. :p

  10. SCOTTtheBADGER Says:

    It’s certainly unique!

  11. Charles Says:

Hmm, I think while the dress is different, it isn’t sooo different to be bad. I think she actually looks good in it and it looks good on her.

Maybe I just don’t have good taste. Also, like others have said, I have no idea who she is.

  12. Sgt. Mom Says:

I’m on the side of those who think it could work – mind you, with a longer underskirt, and better arrangement of the poppy applique-on-tulle design. The obvious seam at the waist doesn’t work. If it were a princess-style sheath, tight at the waist and cut to widen at the hem, I think it would have a more pleasing line. And with the larger poppies at the waist, graduating to smaller ones going up the bodice and down to the hem and the sleeves – that would be a bit more subtle – a bit more elegant. YMMV. And I don’t have the foggiest who she is, either.

  13. Don Carlos Says:

Since we’re voting, I like it.

  14. mike Says:

The woman wearing it wears it well and that’s all that matters. Her smile and self-assured posture make her the focal point, along with the contrast of her black hair and the poppy-red flowers.

    I’m a yes, I like it.
