  1. “By the skillful and sustained use of propaganda, one can make a people see even heaven as hell or an extremely wretched life as paradise.”
    ― Adolf Hitler

or if you like Pink Floyd instead:
So, so you think you can tell
    Heaven from Hell,
    Blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field
    From a cold steel rail?
    A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

Did they get you to trade
    Your heroes for ghosts?
    Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
    Cold comfort for change?
    And did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?

[and before you say no, remember “the wall” is all about that subject from stem to stern and is a pyschology course in the extreme…

from abandonment, suffocating mother using son to replace missing husband, boy trying to resolve the idea that nazism was stronger than his dad, how his empathy of wretched animals nearly got him killed, how his wife cheated on him (or did you not notice what was on the TV when he went nuts on cushie?.]

  2. Just speculation but is Obama deliberately wanting to cost Dems control of the Senate? It doesn’t sound rational but with Republicans in solid control of the legislative branch he would have a ready made excuse to govern by decree.

  3. It’s clear that the narrative strategy is to redirect any and all criticism over Obama’s unilateral, extra-procedural release of the 5 senior Taliban commanders into an objection over bringing home a captured American soldier from war.

  4. What’s wrong with golden showers for democrats? They should be in ecstasy .

grab an amertican, and see what you can get for them, they are trading them for bargain basement prices…

you can get five heroes for the price of one traitor.
thats like getting 500 dollars for 2 cents.

how bout if we trade 100 mexicans for the soldier being held by mexico?

what will north korea ask for?

boku haram just murdered a few hundered more people, they say “send help”, we will take care of them.

are you on the “Main Core“ list?

“There exists a database of Americans, who, often for the slightest and most trivial reason, are considered unfriendly, and who, in a time of panic, might be incarcerated. The database can identify and locate perceived ‘enemies of the state’ almost instantaneously.”

“If you are a website owner with a brisk readership and a conservative bent, you’re on that list. It’s a political dissident list, not an enemy threat list……..”

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Core

Main Core is the code name of a database maintained since the 1980s by the federal government of the United States. Main Core contains personal and financial data of millions of U.S. citizens believed to be threats to national security

The data, which comes from the NSA, FBI, CIA, and other sources,[1] is collected and stored without warrants or court orders.[1] The database’s name derives from the fact that it contains “copies of the ‘main core’ or essence of each item of intelligence information on Americans produced by the FBI and the other agencies of the U.S. intelligence community.

The Main Core database is believed to have originated with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in 1982, following Ronald Reagan’s Continuity of Operations plan outlined in the National Security Directive (NSD) 69 / National Security Decision Directive (NSDD) 55, entitled “Enduring National Leadership,” implemented on September 14, 1982.[1][2]

As of 2008 there were reportedly eight million Americans listed in the database as possible threats, often for trivial reasons, whom the government may choose to track, question, or detain in a time of crisis.[3]

The existence of the database was first reported on in May 2008 by Christopher Ketcham[4] and in July 2008 by Tim Shorrock

too bad no one wants to talk about the hundreds of things not discussed..

think the soldier was on this list?
think neo is on this list?

    The Huế Massacre

s the name given to the summary executions and mass killings perpetrated by the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese Army during their capture, occupation and later withdrawal from the city of Huế during the Tet Offensive, considered one of the longest and bloodiest battles of the Vietnam War.

During the months and years that followed the Battle of Huế, which began on January 31, 1968, and lasted a total of 26 days, dozens of mass graves were discovered in and around Huế. Victims included women, men, children, and infants.[1] The estimated death toll was between 2,800 to 6,000 civilians and prisoners of war.[2] The Republic of Vietnam released a list of 4062 victims identified as having been either murdered or abducted.[3][4] Victims were found bound, tortured, and sometimes buried alive.[5][6][7] Many victims were also clubbed to death

just so you know what those lists are for….
    (larry grathwohl mentioned it]

“It pains me to write this as Ukraine and Russia are merged in my blood, in my heart, and in my thoughts. But extensive experience of friendly contacts with Ukrainians in the camps has shown me how much of a painful grudge they hold. Our generation will not escape from paying for the mistakes of our fathers.” Solzhenitsyn

‘It is wrong to write a textbook that will fill the children who learn from it with horror and disgust about their past and their people,’ was how the project’s coordinator, Aleksandr Filippov, explained this latest propaganda campaign.

There was such inhuman, unimaginable misery, such a terrible disaster, that it began to seem almost abstract, it would not fit within the bounds of consciousness,’ wrote Boris Pasternak, author of Doctor Zhivago, after a trip to the Ukraine.

the idealistic Muggeridge left the Soviet Union, convinced he had witnessed ‘one of the most monstrous crimes in history, so terrible that people in the future will scarcely be able to believe it ever happened’.

Recent polls show that the FSB is now one of the most trusted institutions in modern Russia, with nearly 60 per cent of respondents saying that they believed that being a secret policeman was an ‘honourable’ profession.

At the same time, the FSB is, amazingly, larger than the Soviet KGB ever was, and more powerful, as Putin has promoted former spooks to top positions in the Kremlin, the government and the regions.

that Russia was led by a psychopathic Georgian bank-robber who ordered the deaths of millions of his own people and would have preferred to sit out the war as Hitler’s ally if the Nazis had not reneged on their non-aggression treaty and attacked Russia in 1941 – is just too depressing.

  7. Fifty years ago yesterday, at the University of Michigan, Johnson had proposed legislating into existence a Great Society. It would end poverty and racial injustice, “but that is just the beginning.” It would “rebuild the entire urban United States” while fending off “boredom and restlessness,” slaking “the hunger for community” and enhancing “the meaning of our lives” – all by assembling “the best thought and the broadest knowledge.”

  8. You just gave the reason why the media is finally covering an Obama scandal. This time, it is Democrats that are angry. As we enter the Democratic primaries for the 2016 election, both parties will be running against the administration. Obama won’t enjoy it.

  9. Discussions over the release do not amount to giving congress 30 days notice. you think congress would let the law just allow that? no. the law requires

    30-day notification must include:

    1) A detailed statement of the basis for the transfer or release.

    2) An explanation of why the transfer or release is in the national security interests of the United States.

    3) A description of any actions taken to mitigate the risks of reengagement by the individual to be transferred or released…

    4) A copy of any [review board] findings relating to the individual.

    5) A description of the evaluation [of conditions in the country to which the individual would be transferred].

  10. Ymarsakar Art, until you give us the list and all its appendixes, you’re the one not talking about things.

and when i do, then the post gets cut.

ie. i include stuff, its too long, people get upset.

i do what others do, talk blindly, and its not accepted, i need references, which they dont.

if your not for something, then your against it, right?

magna carta is the stage name of a singer, nothing else
    and long live the king…

[except that monarchs have right by birth or conquest, not election, election gives you tyranical despots who all want to help the poor (into the grave)]

  12. Artfldgr,

Verbal diarrhea is not attractive. Your first comment was perfect. Often less is more.

    kaba,

I suspect it’s not a case of Obama wanting the dems to lose the Senate, as just not caring… it’s clear that he prefers to rule by decree.

And for a narcissist like Obama, after his term ends, so does history. As far as he’s concerned, America has reached her peak under his reign and cannot possibly but be less, no matter who his successor might be.

  13. Art: “There was such inhuman, unimaginable misery, such a terrible disaster, that it began to seem almost abstract, it would not fit within the bounds of consciousness,’ wrote Boris Pasternak, author of Doctor Zhivago, after a trip to the Ukraine.

A lot of things do not fit within the bounds of consciousness.

  14. I am not sure it is your information to begin with. It would be the NSA’s spying information, technically. And unless you work for the NSA, you certainly can’t say you got it all on your own.

  15. ie. i include stuff, its too long, people get upset.

I’m not sure why people didn’t tell you this in the beginning, and I ignored it as it wasn’t my business (yet) but… it isn’t that you are writing too long, it is that you are writing incomprehensible stuff.

On the level of autism and Asperger’s Syndrome quality.

If you think your information analysis and subduction abilities are so superior to ours, that we need it so much more badly than you, then why don’t you, Art, read the book on human communication (in English).

Or is changing yourself too hard a task vs you trying to change the world or the people here?

  16. both parties will be running against the administration. Obama won’t enjoy it.

Talk about a waste of time. RUnning against a lame duck administration?

That’s not going to do much.

No matter who the Dems put into power after Hussein, elections or no elections, that Democrat will be a Leftist. And the Leftist alliance is at war with humanity. They’re not going to stop because Hussein may or may not have stepped down as the last President of the United States.

  19. Some things become so overwhelming and senseless, they become too abstract, and cannot fit within the bounds of human consciousness.

And yet the infliction of suffering never ceases.

  20. Ymarsakar,

Over the years, many of us have suggested to Artfldgr that less long-winded and more logically constructed missives would be more positively received. He has previously stated that he has a disability that makes that difficult.

That however cannot have a bearing on his frequent condescension toward others.

  21. I often see people that lost their arms, use their legs to drive, write, and eat.

I’m no longer at the point where people can use their victim shield as an excuse and as their power stick. That only works for socially bred and conditioned humans.

If people think they got a “disability”, then they need to fix that before they try to fix us. And if they don’t like that, tough, the world don’t give a F what humans like, and never has.

  22. A disability that prevents capitalization of sentences, but only for CAPS LOCK BOY DAY and names…

    what’s that called, ebonics?

  23. Geoffrey Britain, 4:54 pm — “Artfldgr, verbal diarrhea is not attractive. Your first comment was perfect. Often less is more.”

Geoffrey Britain, perfectly put. Kudos to you.

  24. sadly, what i say USED to be COMMON knowlege till dummies, ignorants, idjits, and those that make up facts rather than research, dominates our society

Let me take a guess using my savant level abilities, Art.

For all or most of your life, for god knows how many decades, people have told you that you were smart, that you understood reading material much higher than your age, and that this meant your “disability” was a good excuse to use for why you can’t seem to form a single coherent paragraph of your own thoughts in English. Or perhaps any other language.

You ever think that the people who told you that, weren’t as smart as you? Here’s the truth, as I see it. Most of your caretakers and people who talked about your “condition”, had no clue what you were reading and could not grasp it, because Sun Tzu’s the Art of War was not something they could even handle on an intellectual level. They were neither warriors nor students of war. So you formed this conclusion that the only smart people, on your level, were the authors of these books, Long Long Ago in an Age unknown to the bumpkins today.

The people here are part of the upper 25% in humanity. We aren’t the idjits, the bottom 68% of humanity, that you used to hang out with and who you could speak babble at and they called you brilliant (because they themselves had no clue).

Over the past 2 or 3 years, your logick to writing ability has deteriorated to a point where it is significantly harder to piece out what your point is, even with your textual examples. This is the result of pure laziness, not some birth defect or “disability”, that people told you were the reason why you didn’t have to write things correctly. Because you spent God knows how many decades ignoring this weak point of you, it’s deteriorated. So it’s not that people are too stupid to understand the Ancients and what they wrote, it’s because your writing is too sub par for anyone to understand, even the Ancients that you admire.

    http://neoneocon.com/2013/06/07/gathering-the-phone-records-data-why-its-not-okay/#comment-610874

That’s an example of common dialogue between me and Art, some time ago. So for those wondering what I’m basing my judgments off, it isn’t some one off due to this thread.

But it seems to me, and based on your, Art’s, reactions to me later on, that nobody that you recognized as being on the same intelligence level (savant) as you, ever disagreed with you or corrected your mistaken path.

Anything you can read and know, I can read and know. Nothing you present is something I’m “incapable” of comprehending. You don’t seem to get ‘hints’ and ‘social clues’, which is what people normally would use.

So I’m going to state straight out. It is definitely possible that two equal level intelligences can read and see the same thing, and have opposite conclusions. You think everything has to either harmonize or agree, mostly with you, but I negate that directly. I don’t like people disagreeing with me. I don’t like them agreeing with me either. I like it when people have their own thoughts, don’t try to transcend the boundary on me, and without being externally controlled by Masterminds.

Art, you’ve probably spent too many decades being lazy and not improving your weaknesses (Sun Tzu did recommend to make your weaknesses into strengths) to change your ways now, and that’s a pithy. But it ain’t the fault of people’s idiocy that you are the way you are. You are the reason you Are The Way You Are.

  25. I prefer reading Neo’s posts and the comments of her readers without criticisms of fellow poster’s words.

Thoughtful corrrections are welcome but thoughtless criticisms not so much.

  26. The Big Friendship train left the moment the Left declared war on humanity. But I suppose people are still stuck with their heads in the sand waving their hands so that the tsunami will pass them safely by.

    Something like that.

  27. A tribute to neo, her commentators are the best, even the eccentric ones, and there is nothing wrong with a little gentle kidding, or even polite exasperation.

  28. Could this be what we’ve been waiting for since 2008, when the dems finally have had it with dear leader? Even if not one has to appreciate the comedy of it all; I mean everyone agreeing he did something so incredibly stupid that any suggestion of superior reasoning ability will be scoffed at but everyone has to pretend the opposite because impeaching him would risk the LIV vote.

  29. Democrats and Obama: appeasers and crocodile.

They’re just now starting to understand that he’s going to take them down with him, because he simply doesn’t care.
The list of people/organizations thrown under the Obama bus is long, so it’s not like they didn’t have enough hints.

  30. I’d like to believe we’ve finally reached that tipping point when those who’ve been drinking the Koolaid begin to realize what was in it (block that metaphor!) However, if the NYT is anything to go by, we aren’t there yet. The editorial board thinks that “Republican operatives” are manipulating the soldiers who are talking about Bergdahl, that the soldiers’ accounts don’t count as “actual facts” and that Bergdahl’s unit — not Bergdahl — should be blamed for “lack of security and discipline” that, in the NYT’s view, virtually forced the poor blameless “free-spirited young man” to wander off. In other words– smear the soldiers, those lying baby-killers. Hey, it worked in Vietnam.

Also, the NYT says McCain’s a hypocrite b/c a while back he said he might support this prisoner swap, depending on the details, but now — knowing the details — he doesn’t. Of course they completely leave out the part of the previous exchange in which he refers to his own years as a POW and expresses compassion for Bergdahl’s solitary captivity based on his hard-won knowledge of what that’s like. THAT, of course, wouldn’t fit the necessary narrative of heartless cowardly wingnutitude.

Even the NYT may dimly realize just how impossibly far it’s reaching and how ludicrous (its word) this kind of “reasoning” looks. But it hasn’t actually stopped reaching yet — and unfortunately, its views are probably still representative of a pretty wide swath of elite liberal opinion.

  31. The NYTimes doesn’t have views or thoughts. They think whatever the LEft tells them to think.

Although that might be representative of much of the Left’s cannonfodder, so little difference it makes.

  32. Mrs Whatsit: I’d like to believe we’ve finally reached that tipping point when those who’ve been drinking the Koolaid begin to realize what was in it (block that metaphor!)

I refer again to Neo’s brilliant and elegant series “A Mind is a Difficult Thing to Change.”

I also refer to my own personal experience (more than 40 years) of being intensely interested in American politics from a definite, passionate non-Leftist pov.

For all of those years there frequently arose the futile expression in the non-Left that people were finally “getting it” and that the even the kool-aid drinkers would begin to realize what is what.

It has never happened, except rarely among rare people like Neo who had intellectual honesty and respect for objective truth, rare qualities.

I know for example is not proof but here is a for example.

To my perception, the media in this country has since the 60’s had a Leftist bias and defended Democrats (with the odd Spitzer here and there). A non-Leftist friend of mine, discussing the blatant non-stop pro-Clinton propaganda of the first Clinton campaign, confidently predicted that after Clinton’s election the press, having achieved their goal of electing the Democrat, would turn on him because all the corruption was just too good to pass up.

We made a bet which I won and he admitted that the media spent the Clinton years relentlessly, ignoring, lying, minimizing or distracting whichever was most effective. Anything but intellectual honesty with a respect for objective truth.

I used to love the NY Times. The Sunday Times was my Sunday church service. But the Times was never ever NOT a Leftist organ with a persistent and substantial component of Leftist propaganda. At some point I stopped paying the trifling contribution of the purchase price because it was a contribution to the Leftist propaganda.

Forgive the length and incoherence of this post, which is meant to support a subjective belief. There is no such thing as people getting it, or kool-aid drinkers beginning to realize, or the objective truth breaking through.

It simply is not going to happen, except in rare cases.

The Left controls all the cultural levers and they are not giving up control.

Eric talks about not having an activist non-Left, and there is a lot of truth to what he says.

But until the non-Left starts up its own high information venues and sources, very few minds are changing. It is too difficult.

  33. My way of changing minds is very simple.

If you put a 3 foot long high carbon steel between the brain in the skull box, there’ll be some change. Other than that… one must resort to necromancer and mind control.

  34. Even now, the Left is raping children to “change the world” to their private slave paradise.

    http://www.lucianne.com/thread/?artnum=783365

    Don’t believe it?

The Left behaves in similar ways. There are certain thoughts they are not allowed to think. Gun control=human control= animal control.

The politicians don’t see you as human, so asking them for human compassion and human mercy is pointless. They have none for the likes of roaches and pigs. At best, they’ll treat a few of their cronyies and “constituents” as pet dogs, eligible for the best food and healthcare. When it comes time to deciding whether they eat their own children or the family dog, however…

  35. Over the years, many of us have suggested to Artfldgr that less long-winded and more logically constructed missives would be more positively received.

Something that should be noted. Autistic individuals or people with savant level abilities that compensate with extremely low functioning normal human capabilities, don’t understand clues or social hints.

Things like “Verbal diarrhea” makes no sense to them, and if that is the form in which “more logickally constructed” recommendations were made, then autistic people Do Not Understand That kind of ambiguous hint.

While not all autistic individuals share the same talents or the same level of talents (average, above average, genius, savant, god like), it’s much easier for them to learn from straight exact clear rules, on an almost OCD/robotic level.

If two people phrase the same advice by adding or removal a single word, that can be taken as two mutually contradictory advice by such.

  36. The day the Democrats realize that Obama cares almost as little for them as he cares for Republicans should be entertaining. Unfortunately, I fear it may be when we’re hit w/another 9/11-style attack thanks to all of his pro-MB/Taliban/open borders activity.

They’re useful idiots, that is all.

  37. Tonawanda:

Your comment was not only very coherent but sadly, sadly correct about the possibilities of political change for most people, at least as far as I’m been able to observe.

A mind is most definitely a difficult thing to change. People do not seek change out in that regard; au contraire, it has to hit them on the head with a 2 X 4. Even then, for most people, that’s not nearly enough.

  38. Humans will believe in two things.

    1. What they wish to be true.
    2. What they fear to be true.

Since they fear the Republicans because everything the Democrats said about Republicans, they fear to be true, they believe it.

Since they wish to be protected by government and Demons like a child, and feel you need to be disarmed and stripped along with them, they believe it to be true.

Until somebody gets rid of those two things, or wields fear and desire against the Left, nothing will change. Because they will not change themselves, so the world must be forced to change them.

  39. Tonawanda:

I think the notable and significant cultural change is that women have left the home. Where before women lead community and family cohesion, today they are more “ambitious”, which is to say egoistic and materialistic.

Men played a role, but so did women. We were equal but complementary. The role change has created a state of flux, which will eventually settle into a new stable state. It hasn’t yet, and there is no way to predict the quality of it ultimately.
