If this isn’t contempt of Congress, I don’t know what is — 21 Comments

  1. “If this isn’t contempt of Congress, I don’t know what is”

    It’s mutual contempt.

I’m with Issa (he’s my congressperson, by the way), so I think it’s justifiable contempt coming from Issa [and from me].

[The other guys’ contempt is justified from their standpoint, because the neanderthals are actually shining light on the other guys’ antics, and the other guys are very unaccustomed to that happening; contempt for the light-shiner is therefore a very natural response in their situation.]

I’m not sure it’s worth it for Issa to play this game. As you (neo) pointed out a few days ago, it’s nothing but an arrogant taunting by the regime; they know they won’t be held accountable. I’m not sure Issa should be playing along, as he’s merely playing the taunted.

  2. M J R:

It would take some sort of superhuman control, though, not to spit in Koskinen’s face.

So I give Issa props for that.

  3. N-Neocon: “What a vile weasel.”

Thank You, Neo, for a description of true accuracy. I’m so damned sick of the varnished nice-nice of language these days.

  4. If your not watching C-Span or Fox then you don’t even know this is going on!

MSM is the real vile weasels here!

  5. $50k … that’s great BUT who’s going to jail!

    http://dailysignal.com/2014/06/24/irs-admits-wrongdoing-pay-50000-leaking-marriage-groups-tax-return/

“Two years after activists for same-sex marriage obtained the confidential tax return and donor list of a national group opposed to redefining marriage, the Internal Revenue Service has admitted wrongdoing and agreed to settle the resulting lawsuit.

The Daily Signal has learned that, under a consent judgment today, the IRS agreed to pay $50,000 in damages to the National Organization for Marriage as a result of the unlawful release of the confidential information to a gay rights group, the Human Rights Campaign, that is NOM’s chief political rival.”

  6. neo,

“I give Issa props for that.” Definitely.

Heck, I’m barely able to refrain from spitting at my tee vee sometimes, when these types (dis)grace my screen.

  7. NeoConScum:

But “vile weasel” is varnished nice-nice language, compared to what I’d like to call him.

  8. jack:

50K is chump change to them. Well worth it, they’re probably thinking.

And yes, I don’t see that it’s coming out of their pockets. Rather, ours.

  9. If Congress were serious it would impeach the IRS commissioner. He can be impeached, can’t he?

  10. “The vile weasel” has committed perjury and displayed a rude, smarmy attitude that insults the prerogatives of the legislative branch. He should be in a cell in the Capitol basement.

  11. Muscle needed, not words. What if the House directed its Sgt-at-Arms to deputize and arm men to effect arrests, e.g. Holder and Koskinen? It would make a great face-off, bullets might fly and the no longer verbal battle would be joined.
One way or another we must cease being stuck on stupid.

  12. ^ Don Carlos

That’s the last thing the american public would want.

The only real power of congress is the “purse” and that should be pursued to the fullest.

  13. Also for the media the “purse” is the only thing that can turn them … if they go belly up they will change … well maybe.

  14. jack- Your American public is hardly a unitary entity. My bullet, your purse; who wins?

  15. We on the right side of the bell curve must not fire the first (real) shot. That does not put us at a disavantage. Again, read Unitended Consequences. That is how the rebellion should begin.

  16. The way things look now, it’s a given that these guys are never going to jail and they know it. It’s also clear that Koskinen et. al. have no sense of shame. Normally, a non-corrupt media would expose them to ridicule, but that’s another unavailable option.

So how to deter/defeat them? The only chink in their armor is their intellectual vanity. Make them look as stupid as possible on the stand, as Trey Gowdy does. And hope that somehow, someway they glimpse their fate as future Erlichmans*, Deans, and Haldemans.

Make them look stupid, and shake their faith that they’re on the “right side of history.”

*Did you know that Hank Paulson was Erlichman’s assistant in 1972 and 1973? I didn’t.

  17. gpc31: We do not have the luxury of time. As long as we keep stalling, they keep winning. A sense of history is needed here. Recast this as being German jews in 1935, and how do you feel about the National Socialists’ intellectual vanity? Kristallnacht anyone?

  18. Until Americans prove they deserve liberty and freedom, they don’t deserve to win any war. That won’t change no matter how many slaves and janissaries people get.
