Obama’s next move on the border and deportations
For quite some time now we’ve been waiting for Obama’s other shoe to drop regarding amnesty. He’s been warning of us a big announcement, which most people (including me) have speculated will be to end the possibility of deportation for millions of illegal immigrants who are now still at least theoretically subject to it. Nothing has disabused me of the notion that this is his plan.
So what’s keeping him, besides his other pressing engagements (i.e. golf and fund-raising)? He is probably trying to figure out the approach least likely to raise legal challenges.
Obama is nothing if not audacious, but recent SCOTUS decisions (in particular, I would think NLRB v. Noel Canning, the case in which SCOTUS curbed one of his overreaches by a vote of 9-0) have made him a little more careful not to tread too heavily on the toes of even the liberal justices. And mock Boehner’s lawsuit if you will, but it signaled to Obama that the Republicans aren’t completely incapable of mounting some sort of energy, however pallid, for a legal challenge.
Meanwhile, it’s not as though many deportations are actually occurring at present. Au contraire:
“We release all detainees under 14 years of age without taking any biometric identification, including no fingerprints,” the Border Patrol agent explained to Stockman. “We are prevented by law from taking fingerprints or other biometric information on these kids.”
The Border Patrol supervisor could not identify for Stockman the law in question.
“Then how do you know who these children under 14 years old are?” Stockman asked. “How do you know if you are releasing these kids to people who are truly family members in the United States or to pedophiles or other criminals posing as family members?”
“We only know who these children are by what they tell us,” the Border Patrol supervisor admitted. “Truthfully, we don’t really have any idea who they might be or where they came from other than what we can observe from questioning them. You’re right. If they give us false information, we have no way to know it or to follow it up without biometrics.”
Stockman asked what information the Border Patrol has on the people in the United States who claim to be relatives.
“That’s not what our department handles,” the Border Patrol supervisor again admitted.
Rep. Stockman maintains that Obama wants to be impeached prior to the 2014 election, in order to gain sympathy and rally his base. I think Obama knows that any such impeachment prior to November 2014 would fail to win conviction in the Senate, so he’d be safe. But I don’t think he really wants an impeachment—he’d be very happy with the mere threat of one, so he wouldn’t have to waste time and energy defending against it but could claim the mantle of pitiful victim of the racist Republicans nonetheless. On the issue of amnesty, he’s far more frightened (although not frightened enough) of a Court challenge at this point, which could put him in the position of being in open defiance of even the liberal justices and some in his own party.
But why is Obama so keen on officially giving amnesty to the illegal arrivals? They already have de facto amnesty as long as he’s president; why do they need it de jure? Even with de jure amnesty, they almost certainly would not be able to vote yet by 2014 or even 2016, except illegally, which they already could do now just as well (or with just as much difficulty). They will almost certainly be working in the US under the table even without de jure amnesty, much as they do now, too. So what’s the point of raising a fuss and alerting even some of the low-information-voters as to what is going on by officially giving them amnesty? After all, isn’t it logical to think that a subsequent president could take it back by executive order, too, as long as it’s not been codified into law by Congress, and as long as the illegal immigrants granted amnesty haven’t yet become citizens?
The reason might be to throw a bunch of very public and visible fish to the so-called “immigration activists” on the left whom Obama needs in to get energized for the 2014 election. In addition, it might facilitate the granting of benefits to the arrivals, if Congress refuses to appropriate special funds.
Still another reason, I suppose, would be to thumb his nose at all of us and cause Republicans and conservatives—and really, anyone who considers this a sovereign nation with borders—to stomp their feet in impotent rage.
The Motor Voter Act is how the illegals vote.
Obama is simply chaos and he knows he is completely immune from impeachment due to his race.
I can’t think of a single thing he could do that would convince a single Dem Senator to vote to convict.

Neo, I think the real reason is tied to what is happening today when he started in on the impeachment theme in order raise money. By granting amnesty, I assume the Dems have calculated out a net benefit for fund raising for the fall election. First from under the table donations from the illegals themselves, and then also from the left base.
And hattip is right, the icing on the cake is moving the car a bit more down the road to a one party state.
They need amnesty or official sanction so that they can control their newly brought in slaves. Otherwise they would have to work in the shadows, printing out bus tickets for people that might get deported or interrogated to break the Dem’s terror cells.

I just am questioning the timing of the official amnesty thing. That’s why I think Obama’s hesitating. He’s not sure if it’s the right timing, either.
If recent polls are accurate, an EO granting amnesty is not going to improve the dems popularity come November.

i was able to post above that all he is doing is an extension of the LID, SDS, Weatherman, soviets, etc..
but if you dont know that history and others, why would you know enough to actually use that to know whats going on? ie. without that, you have nothing to base any guesses on except nothing you seem to value more than other nothings.
read the history, read why they chose, who their members are, what their children are doing, and so on.

the league for industrial democracy is the closest equivalent to the british fabian society in history of american socialism. like the favian society, the LID regarded iself as principally an educational agency aiming above all to promote a vision of ” a new social order based on production for us and not for profit” among members of the educatred middle class.
for the past 75 years the lid has applied to this task with uncomon indusry, churning out research, holding conferences, sending out lecturers, and publishing journals and pamphlets.

I watched Dan Pfieffer, an Obama senior adviser, interviewed by Christian Science Monitor on C-Span last night. His answers to many questions indicated that Obama and team are saying, “Bring it on,” to impeachment. So, I think you are spot on that they want it to happen – sooner, rather than later.

Verbal diarrhea is not attractive. More importantly, it is counter-productive.
Obama’s apparent ‘hesitation’ at issuing an order for unilateral amnesty may be intentional. His repeated warnings certainly are intentional and it is substantively raising the calls for impeachment. If Obama keeps feinting that he’s about to grant amnesty, his hope may be that the House votes for impeachment before he actually issues an executive order for amnesty. In such a scenario, nothing would motivate his base more for November’s election.
If this is so, I think it highly likely that he will issue an executive order after the Nov election, especially if the dems hold on to the Senate.
BO is doing it to show once again and for the umpteenth time he can do it. The only political calculation is whether he can get away with it, without giving up the game.
So far, he has found he has nothing to lose.
Supreme Court decisions? You think he cares? He already accomplished his goal, to do what he wants to do to show he can do it.
Chaos, hatred and division is his only game, that is what he is doing. That is the game he does not want to give up.
Destruction of the old, elimination of opposition, and empowerment of the visionary man who imposes his will, that is what chaos, hatred and division are intended to nurture.

And the brilliance of it, the thing he is justifiably “proud” of, is he is doing it in such a way where the game is not being given away. His moves are examined for the electoral implications, and there are none.
What difference does a Democrat or Republican senate make, when BO can do it?
We can take it for granted that bho has the heart and soul of a tyrant, and that chaos, divisiveness, and destruction are his tools of trade. We can label everyone associated with him as enemies to the founding values of America. However, people on both the right and the left have a NIMBY attitude when it comes to resettling the vermin that DHS, HHS, and FEMA are spreading like plague across red and blue states alike.
Well before November there will be outbreaks of diseases, financial pains at the local level, and violent crime waves directly linked directly to this assault on our safety and security. The MSM may choose to ignore or explain away bho’s dereliction of duty; but people on the local level will know. If this is a plank in the dems 2014 strategy, its fraught with unintended consequences.
As a president who can’t run again, and with the 2014 election looking like a lost one for Democrats, a long game winner for the Democrats, or so they think, is to just naturalize all the illegal immigrants in the country right now, and naturalize all the ones who come whenever a Democrat is in the presidency. By the election of 2024 or 2028, you could well have 5 million new, naturalized Hispanic voters in Texas alone.
Obama will not do this prior to this November, but will wait until Congress is gone home for the holidays.
The reason Obama is acting so extreme and erratically on immigration is that he being forced by the Hispanic Caucus-La Raza-Univision wing of the Dem Party. They have remained loyal to Obama and Hispanics saved him in 2012, enrolled-en-mass in Obamacare to give him the numbers he needed and are one of the few things keeping his poll numbers above 30%., The news on Univison and Telemundo (which my Hispanics wife watches daily) follow the MSM-Democrat talking points, even more so but that could change if Obama dos not follow orders on immigration..
And how do I know this? Remember that interview by Jorge Ramos with Obama? He grilled him, especially on Fast and Furious. Obama was shocked and caught off guard as he was expecting the usual softballs. The whole thing was a warning to Obama by the Hispanic wing: Do our bidding or else we will bring you down. It showed they see through Obama, are not afraid of him and will gladly cause chaos if he doesn’t follow orders. That was not just a small event, although few noticed it outside the blog-o sphere. Inside the Obama camp it was an earthquake.
Obama probably agrees with most of the La Raza agenda anyway but would not be acting this aggressively and (politically risky) without being forced. But I have no doubt his feet are being held to he fire and he dare not throw La Raza under the bus as they will not go down alone.

While there is plenty of speculation as to Obama’s motivations, and provocative theories as to his Machiavellian maneuvers, I’m inclined to accept a more banal explanation as to his delayed action on amnesty. Neither he, nor his soothsayers, have any concrete idea as to how this will affect the 2014 midterms. I don’t think anyone does; the context of such a move is fluid and dynamic. As much as amnesty might motivate the base, it might just as much (or more) fire-up the opposition, drive wavering tea partiers, still enraged about Mississippi, to loyally embrace the GOP establishment out of necessity
Don’t misunderstand me: I think Obama is going to issue an executive order on amnesty. Absolutely. The only question is: before or after the midterms? Which is more politically useful?
We all know the real battle on the national stage is for the Senate. The House is safely in GOP hands, barring an earthquake much bigger than amnesty. Governorships and state legislatures, while certainly affected by national issues, are always decided in a large part on insular debates and personalities. The fate of the Senate is where amnesty would have its most significant electoral impact.
Keep in mind, the GOP can win control of the Senate even by only winning the contested races in red states. If they hold their own in Kentucky and Georgia and pick up Montana, South Dakota, West Virginia, Arkansas, Louisiana (all of which went for Bush, McCain and Romney) and North Carolina (which went for Obama but then flipped to Romney), they take the Senate. Purplish blue Colorado, Iowa and Michigan would just be icing on the cake, as would Alaska (a red state, but where the Senate race is still fluid). None of the above referenced eight red states has a terribly high Latino population (growing, sure, but it’s growing everywhere).
However much immigration activists, flaming liberals and the Latino “community” (at least, their leadership) in New York, California, New Mexico, Nevada – or even Arizona and Texas – may cheer an Obama executive order on amnesty, however much it may benefit Democrats in the long run (and there’s little doubt it will), it is not likely to be net positive for Mary Landrieu, Mark Pryor, Kay Hagan, et al. Maybe that will change, or maybe Obama will throw them all under a bus. But my money is on an amnesty announcement sometime in mid to late November, regardless of the electoral results.
The impeachment rumblings, however minimal, are utterly absurd. Boehner would never allow such a resolution to come to the floor. Nor should he. I agree with Andrew McCarthy: impeachment is now and will always be, in part, political. There is NO political wherewithal at the moment, nor would there be sufficient wherewithal even if Obama granted amnesty before the midterms. If he does, however, I agree, the GOP should make the case for impeachment a seminal part of their fall campaign.

The only way to figure out which word is being blocked is to shorten your posts, Art, not increase them. That’s how I found several words that were being blocked, although several times I couldn’t find it, even though I reduced a 10 paragraph post to a single paragraph.

If I follow the logic of Neo’s recent repost of Horowitz’ arctilce the other day it is all fairly clear. The goal is to destroy the border, border enforcement, the institution of citizenship and the whole immigration system. Yes, they get more Donk voters down the line. Yes, they get more unionized welfare workers. Yes, they get bigger welfare budgets to use as a slush fund. All of it true but secondary. The goal is ultimately the destruction of America and the oppressive American system. There is no follow up plan save that the Left’s ‘thought leaders’ get their enclaves of light and plenty when the rest of us are reduced to living in the equivalent of those awful 99% encampments.
You’re missing the most important reason for amnesty — do you know how hard it is to get good help these days?
