Dana Milbank: making whites a minority will act as a corrective to flawed American culture — 21 Comments

  1. 1. A country with two languages and two cultures has never worked.

    2. If Mexico and that entire Spanish culture is so great, then why are they leaving?

    3. We might as well get rid of “E Pluribus Unum.”

    4. They will never assimilate.

    5. There is no Rule of Law culture south of the border.

    6. Read Tom Wolfe’s “Back to Blood” to understand this.

    7. This country was built by European-Americans with the help of African- Americans. Why are we now cutting the Hispanics in on our deal?

    8. I hate Dana Mlbank and all those Beltway elites.

  2. I also want to puke when a Dana Milbank writes about how great China is.

He should try to write his drivel in China. He couldn’t even get on the Net there much less knock down six figures.

  3. Any society depraved and degraded enough to produce a public intellectual such as the Milbank and a popular politician such as Obama, deserves every bit of what it gets.

I was reading today about Patricia Krenwinkle, and caused me to think: was it Milbank or Manson who wanted race war whites would lose?

  4. Cornhead –

I live in China at the moment and you are as right as right can be.

These China worshippers have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about. The country is a complete mess, the people are treated like children and (generally speaking) have no concept of anything like natural rights or moral law, the bigotry is widespread and off-the-charts – admittedly most of it goes to the Japanese, but a healthy dose of it goes to Americans too – and the flow of information is as clogged as the flow of bread and circuses is flowing steadily.

The idea of “upkeep” doesn’t seem to exist here, as the tendency is to build something and then let it rot – you should see what the universities look like. The service culture, such as it is, is centered on rudeness and doing just enough to claim you’re doing your job. I sometimes say that the concept of the supererogatory doesn’t exist in China (if you read dissident literature, like Liu Xiabo, you’ll notice that the trend is to try and interpolate such a concept into Chinese culture – a daunting task). And of course there is essentially no innovation. They steal everything or obtain it by coercion.

You know, since I’ve been here, I’ve noticed that a lot of my fellow academics have a keen interest in the Frankfurt School. At first I thought this was just an attempt to refurbish the Marxist-Maoist paradigm, but that’s not it at all. Rather, one should think of it like this:

The essential charge of the Frankfurt School against Western capitalist nations was that they erased the individual by removing his existential and political nature and concerns with a “culture industry” geared toward keeping us satiated like grazing cows. This ensured that the ambitious maintained their power and perks, and that the average folks never complained much about it.

Now, that was always a lie when it came to America. The Frankfurters never really understood what America and Americans were all about, and consequently when you read their works there’s always this sense that they’re talking about somewhere else.

My point is that if there is anywhere where the Frankfurt School’s analyses seem to fit pretty well, it’s China. China uses “capitalism” – what some call “state capitalism” – just in the way the Frankfurt School said America does.

There’s all sorts of irony here. In the first place, America has become more like what the Frankfurt School complained about as a result of the ascendancy of their own ideological epigones. Secondly, that these same epigones would so admire China, of all places, the epitome of what the Frankfurt School described capitalism as being like.

At any rate, at least a good deal of Chinese philosophers understand the situation. Studying the Frankfurt School is a way for them to comment critically on the current state of affairs without bumping heads with the Party.

  5. you let out criminal gang members and militeary
and you left out deseases coming over

    however.
    domesticate the female and…

he artificial selection process also caused the mice to lose the very important trait of being able to survive in the wild. Besides these lost traits, the female lab mice developed the tendency to immediately mate with every male in their vicinity, including siblings and parents. That is, they lost the ability to selectivity choose a mate according to traits that “promise” the offspring better genes and a higher survival rate than those who share a common descent. At the same time, they evolved the willingness to take care of pups belonging to “strangers” (even if they are not themselves mothers). The strains of lab mice chosen to undergo further artificial selection are those who are not “fussy eaters,” grow faster and reach sexual maturity more quickly relative to wild mice. That is how we ended up with larger, less aggressive mice that reproduce at a younger age and are less particular when it comes to choosing a mate. In other words, these strains are quite different from wild mice with regard to structural, physiological and behavioral features.

now… match that up to the trends in the female ppulation in progressive countries… heh

  6. The cure to what ails our society is convincing those that hate traditional American culture to move to their imagined off shore utopias and enacting and enforcing much more restrictive immigration laws. Lots of armed drones along the southern and northern borders should be apart of enforcing stricter immigration laws. Kill a few thousand illegals and suddenly they stop crashing the borders and seek legal immigration.

  7. Well that explains A LOT.

This guy is actually welcoming the death of his own country and culture. I have now words for upsetting that is.

  8. Live by identity politics, lose by identity politics.

I find it a bit funny that virtually every Somali in Minneapolis will be voting for Mohamud Noor rather than 77-year-old, 42-year incumbent Phyllis Kahn in the August 12 Democrat primary. Kahn has more machinery and more money than Noor, but at some point, Noor or another Somali will simply have more voters.

Yeah, I find it funny when it happens to Democrats, but it’s scary that future candidates will have to rush from one community to the other promising “something” — usually money that is set aside for them and them alone — instead of espousing principles of good governance that apply to all Americans regardless of ethnic origin.

I keep hoping that Americans have gotten vaccinated against this by their experience with Obama, but I think we only get one blunt lesson at a time: Black skin isn’t a reason to choose a candidate. Meanwhile, I can see Hillary rising in the east as the gender candidate. We’ll learn that lesson after a term or two, and then maybe we’ll take a crack at a Hispanic candidate (probably her vice president Julian Castro).

  9. Arguing that the demographics of America are changing is the default position of lefties online these days.
It is both the cause and effect, necessitating that we adapt to it, not the other way around.

Oh, the number of times I’ve been told that “the rule of old, white men is ending,” like that’s a good thing.
God save us from short-sighted people.

  10. Parker, no need for killing. What is required is enforcement, including sending back those here illegally. When that happens, many will self deport.

  11. Dana is fundamentally ignorant about what made this country great. The key factor was Anglo-Saxon rule of law. The key period to study to understand this is from the English Revolution to the American Revolution. Or from Locke to Burke, as it were.

Dana, like most leftists, doesn’t believe in rule of law. He believes in a form of fascism. Hence his love of the Chinese approach.

  12. Leftwing Sociologists (is there any other kind?) are lately declaring that “Hyper-Masculinity” (only white males’ of course) leads ineluctably to “Rampant Individualism.” Which must be stamped out, forthwith! both the “hypermasculinity” and the “rampant individualism”. Milbanks’s attack on American individualism is a forerunner of this trend.

    Watch for it, folks.

  13. “to adopt pieces of their culture lacking in our own…”. Dana, that’s cultural appropriation! Bad, bad pundit!

  14. Just inform those “dreamers” that once here, and once part of the US, they become available to be drafted to fight putin in the ukraine.

ie. they are importing the future defense force for the USA

cannon fodder to throw at the russian bear
