The NY times calls Obama’s new policy on immigration “wise”
This editorial reaches a new level of sycophancy even for the fawning Times, especially considering the very real and very significant problems related to every aspect of what Obama did, and the criticism he has drawn even from some sources usually sympathetic to him.
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the editorial (to me, at least) is not just that word “wise” in the title. It’s the perfunctory dismissal of the constitutional issues as settled and obviously in Obama’s favor, and merely the result of the Republican’s usual unjustified pique at him:
Mr. Obama’s initiative is a real gain, which must be held against the blowback from Republicans, who are grasping for justification to match their outrage and to block him on legal grounds. Presidential precedent, the law and Supreme Court affirmation all favor Mr. Obama.
And that’s the entirety of what the Times has to say in the piece on that subject, although it contains well over 600 words. If anyone needed more proof of the total morphing of the Times into the old Pravda, there it is. And if anyone needed more proof that their devotion to Obama has not waned in recent years, there it is.
The Times, of course, is not alone. And although we may mock and revile it, it still is highly respected by many people, and therefore highly influential.
No surprise here, our political class, at al, always has its legs spread for every Tom, Dick, and Harry special interest at the expense of work a day Americans.
It is hard not to notice how selective their “ empathy” is and how incapable they are of weighing unintended consequences.
I have some sympathy for those fleeing violence and poverty. However, it is hard not to notice that the people who cheerlead for “Open Borders” are the same people who are sympathetic to “Tin Pot” dictators, “social democracies”, so called. Heaven forbid that the battle(figuratively, not literally) against the thugs and crooks be waged at the source, in their homelands, where it would actually make a difference. Certainly, it would be better for the fleeing immigrants.
And again, we always have to ask why Central Americans over every other immigrant, particularly those refugees who are actually, demonstrably threatened.

It’s devotion to the movement. Obama is of the movement.
The media long ago gave up reporting for advocacy. They turned themselves into Pravda.
In the USSR there were two papers, Izvestia, meaning the news and Pravda, meaning the truth. The Russians joked that there was no Izvestia in Pravda and no Pravda in Izvestia.
CBS colluded with the WH in the obstruction of their reporter Attkisson’s investigations into Fast & Furious and Benghazi.
All of the major networks ignored the most impactful Presidential address in at least the last 30 years. They did so in order to keep the LIVs in the dark and to preclude a prime time Republican response. Both of these barely scrape the surface of the journalistic betrayal of the American people in which they have and are engaged.
This is far more than mere propaganda and political collusion. The MSN is guilty, repeatedly and consistently… of treason. Indeed, they are committed to treason. As neo stated the other day, “Well, now we know: there is nothing Obama’s enablers wouldn’t excuse and justify”
But the MSM is not simply Obama and the left’s enablers, they are direct participants in making possible the betrayal of America. The MSM is the fulcrum upon which the left’s political leverage rests.
Nazi Germany’s Reich Minister of Propaganda Goebbels most probably did not participate directly in the Holocaust, indeed may not have murdered anyone but had he not committed suicide, there is no doubt that he would have been charged with war crimes, tried and executed.
When the day of reckoning comes, justice will demand that we remember that the MSM was at least as responsible for the destruction of America, as were the Obama’s of this nation.
Letter to my Congress Critters,
Well, the fat’s in the fire now. We are officially a banana republic. Until such time as the Congress or the courts, or both, exert power to rein in the President we will continue to be a banana republic. Imagine how disappointed Latin American immigrants must be to find that they legally immigrated here to escape from a banana republic ruled by a tin-pot dictator, only to find out they’re back in a banana republic.
My heart bleeds for my country. Never in my 81 years have I imagined that such blatant disregard for the Constitution would occur. I fought for this country because I love it and believe in the rule of law. And that is now going down the drain.
If you and your Democrat colleagues supported this action by the President you should be ashamed. A President would not be emboldened to violate the Constitution without the backing and encouragement from those in his party. Isn’t it time that some of you stood up for America and not partisan politics?
Can you not see that the next President (who could be a Republican) will be emboldened to bypass Congress just because the precedent has now been set? That Congress could become merely window dressing to convey an impression of representative democracy as it is in banana republics. And think of what he/she could do. How about deciding not to enforce the tax laws on favored groups? How about not enforcing EPA regulations that some favored groups don’t like? This kind of lawlessness and crony politics can cut both ways. Think about it!
The USA is what it is because we have tried to be a nation of laws and not of pompous men/women pursuing policies not favored by the majority of people. I weep for my country today.

The distinguishable difference between Pravda and the NYT is Pravda was not influential. Their commonality – both provided grist for the joke mill. The inevitable conclusion – the Soviet comrade was much brighter than the seaboard sophisticate.
There are more in poverty in the US than in any time since it has been measured. So we need to bring in hordes of uneducated ‘workers’. Another Dem scheme to increase the gov’t dependent class – you know the Dems core constituency.

This calls to my mind something Rush Limbaugh mentioned almost in passing recently. I shall paraphrase:
Imagine President Sarah Palin deciding, with the enthusiastic approval of her political backers, that she has waited and waited long enough for Congress to act to make abortion illegal — and she goes right ahead and proceeds to bypass Congress and unilaterally, with a stroke of her pen, rules that throughout our land, all abortions are now illegal.
Imagine.

As we are slowly finding out was the case with Obamacare, I am sure that Obama’s fiat legalization of five million illegal aliens also has many time bombs buried in it.
For instance, was anyone aware that, since under this new “wise“ policy millions of illegal aliens are required to pay taxes, if they do they immediately become eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), and since there will be hundreds of thousands of low income earners included in that five million, these low income families will be receiving hefty EITC checks–whose amount will rise each year–paid for by taxpayers.
For example, a family with two kids and making less than $20,000 per year would be eligible to receive a check from the Feds for an average of $14,590 dollars per year, and parents who make less than the threshold would receive $3,305 if they have one child, $5,460 if they have two (see http://dailycaller.com/2014/11/20/obama-u-s-taxpayers-must-pay-for-illegals-children/ ).
P.S.–I neglected to point out that these hundreds of thousands of low income families will, of course, not be paying any income taxes in the first place, because of their low incomes.
So, when Obama assures us that “they will have to pay taxes”–so everything is all right–he knows that many of them won’t pay taxes at all but, instead will get tens of thousands of dollars in taxpayer money given to them each year via the EITC checks they will now be eligible for.
Just as one of the main purposes of Obamacare is really to transfer i.e. to take massive amounts of wealth from those who earn it in the form of increased health care insurance premiums and deductibles, to give that wealth to non-earning recipients in the form of free health care, legalizing illegal aliens is another way to also transfer wealth from those citizens who earn it, to non-citizens many of them low income earners, who will now be eligible for a whole host of government programs and taxpayer money such as the EITC.
And, if these newly legalized illegal aliens are not immediately eligible for the entire cornucopia of federal benefits, you can be sure that–all in the interests of fairness, dontchaknow (remember all those little children with big eyes that cry themselves to sleep at night)–little by little, they will be granted them.
Dear Pravda(NYTimes): One simply CANNOT make this s**t up!! Even your friends at Izvestia(WaPost) have condemned The Boy King’s action. “Action” when applied to Obam-Bam is a ‘Hoot. The Dark Age Death Cult of Radical Islam wants us and our way of life put in stoning pits and His Infantile Majesty decides he can—contrary to his repeated statements of 6-years—jump the US Constitution, but NOT against Islam…Nope, Nada, Nyet, Nein…Against America.
He’s neither led nor worked nor been active in presidential leadership more than 2-weeks collectively since 1/20/2009. Loathsome and vastly pathetic.

Today’s Seattle Times takes the same position in their editorial, calling Obama’s amnesty, “A Much-Needed Action on Immigration”. And their top columnist, Danny Westneat, called Obama’s speech “the high point of his presidency”.
(I’ll probably mock Westneat for that, tomorrow, by pointing out what a sharp critique he is making, implicitly, of Obama’s record as president.)
What worries me is that these journalists seem actually to believe their own arguments.
As I posted the day after Obama’s presser on immigration, those given amnesty will now receive:
1.) Free health care
2.) Free education
3.) Earned Income Tax Credit ( in the form of a federal check—immediately—given that the lion’s share of them will not be earning enough to actually pay taxes, or contribute into the system )
And NOW?
Now the Heritage Foundation has put a price tag on funding this new class of immigrants. It is now reported that it will cost you and me $2 Trillion for these newly minted immigrants.
The gift that keeps on giving; Obama.
