It turns out that Justice Ginsburg… — 21 Comments

  1. Me, too! And sleeping through part of the speech probably helped. These SOTU speeches have gotten so long and boring.

  2. If anything would drive me to drink, having to listen to an Obama speech would be near the top of my list. That may not have been Justice Ginsberg’s reason, but it would have been mine.

  3. Clarityseeker: “Even with those drinks, she still can’t look at herself in a mirror…”

That is because she is like Roper in the “Man for All Seasons” Movie. She will cut down any standing tree to promote what she views as Progress with no regard for the consequences. Unfortunately like Roper in the movie she too is a Fool.

William Roper: So, now you give the Devil the benefit of law!

Sir Thomas More: Yes! What would you do? Cut a great road through the law to get after the Devil?

William Roper: Yes, I’d cut down every law in England to do that!

Sir Thomas More: Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned ’round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country is planted thick with laws, from coast to coast, Man’s laws, not God’s! And if you cut them down, and you’re just the man to do it, do you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I’d give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety’s sake!

  4. I may find little in common with RG, I can feel her pain. Listening to the boychild blabber for an hour would make me reach for the bottle.

  5. That was wholly inappropriate behavior.

The politically correct response was to join in with the ‘Choomster.’

    Bong it!

Doing so will also help the appetite — versus tossing ones cookies!

  6. This is just the beginning. There will be a lot more articles insinuating or even stating that she is incompetent and should retire for the good of the nation. This administration is determined to get rid of her so that Obama gets to appoint one more justice before his term runs out.

  7. Dale Light,
Her incompetence pales in comparison to Scott Walker being, “unknowledgeable”.
I mean, he actually opted to take a job rather than finish his last semester at college to receive his degree.
Progressive elites are aghast at this incredible lack of judgment and stupidity.
Forget that Harry Truman possessed no college degree. Or, Abe Lincoln. Or George Washington. They don’t count.
Pay no mind that Liberal icons such as, Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook), Bill Gates (Microsoft), Steve Jobs (Apple) earned NO COLLEGE DEGREE.
After all, they’re Liberals, and, not running for president.
Scott Walker’s years of experience as governor? That does not count either. Liberals tried three times to oust him so its not as if he was managing a state under normal circumstances.
Most importantly, Howard Dean has spoken. He’s deemed it as being too serious—-been determined that “unknowledgeability” is far, far more serious than incompetence…

  8. There is a lesson to be learned in this.

“The audience — for the most part — is awake because they’re bobbing up and down all the time and we sit there stone-faced, sober judges,” Ginsburg said. “At least I wasn’t 100 percent sober because before we went to the State of the Union we had dinner.”

Ginsburg said that Justice Anthony Kennedy was the culprit, bringing wine to dinner.

“Justice Kennedy brought in … it was an Opus something or other, very fine California wine that Justice Kennedy brought and I vowed this year just sparkling water, stay away from the wine,” Ginsburg told the audience. “But in the end, the dinner was so delicious, it needed wine to accompany it.”

    LESSON:

Justice Ginsberg’s VOWS are not to be taken with any degree of weight or gravity.

(Seriously? She said that? She vowed she was going to refrain from drinking? And then did.)

  9. Why WOULD she “vow” that she was going to only drink, sparkling water? Seemingly making it a big issue.
If I am having dinner and I am consciously thinking about what I am going to have as a beverage, I can honestly say that I’ve never been so dramatic as to proclaim, “I am vowing only to drink water.”
Nothing else. No way. I don’t care what anyone tries to tease me with….or force upon me….
I mean, someone might attempt to take advantage of my vulnerability.
Is there perhaps an issue with her self control which brings her to making vows to herself?
    {{{laughing hysterically}}}

  10. “But in the end, the dinner was so delicious, it needed a couple of good hits off that bong to accompany it.”

  11. Ginsburg talks about Roe v Wade, the 1973 ruling that legalised abortion:
Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of. So that Roe was going to be then set up for Medicaid funding for abortion.
    What?: [insert demented laughter]

  12. Well, as long as she is sober and doesn’t fall asleep during Supreme Court case proceedings.

  13. Sleeping through King Barack’s obnoxious droning is one of the few sensible things Ginsberg has done. I’d hate to be there, forced to feign interest in the stupid, destructive, rambling nonsense spewed by that pompous petty tyrant.
    ———-

BTW, am I the only one who notices Obama’s odd verbal tic, the one in which about a third of the words ending in “s” is followed by a whistle?

Where is SNL when you need them? This thing begs to be parodied but apparently no comic notices it. Strange thing, given the amount of flak dumped on Bush for “misunderestimate” and other clumsy locutions.

  14. Ginsburg, of course, did not have to be there. From the SCOTUS photo, it appears Scalia, Thomas and Alito did not attend. This is a rational response to the Court being shamed and ridiculed by Obama several SOTU addresses ago.
