Another thing Republicans should remind people about — 43 Comments

  1. Of course, Obama is not up for re-election, so what does it matter?

That is as yet undecided. When Hussein leaves the Throne, is when he leaves the Throne, not before.

  2. he is way too handsome and charismatic to be a sociopath said the ignorant woman as she gets into the car never to seen again

    flip side

ugky and alkne he must be a real creep said the woman about the man wearing a navy cross medal…

  3. Based on past behavior, Congressional republicans are unlikely to remind America of those ‘inconvenient facts’ but they certainly should be part and parcel of the rhetorical question approach to Obama’s motivations and beliefs.

Current circumstances do not support Obama declaring an indefinite extension of his term in office. To do so, he needs a ‘bi-partisan’ crisis sufficiently severe enough to credibly declare martial law.

  4. When and IF Obama leaves office its going to be so funny… he, his wife, and kids will all wonder why they cant keep all the stuff they bought the gifts they been given, etc… 🙂

  5. Geoffrey Britain Says: Current circumstances do not support Obama declaring an indefinite extension of his term in office. To do so, he needs a ‘bi-partisan’ crisis sufficiently severe enough to credibly declare martial law.

I can name several things that can happen in a pinch to fix that problem… he has another 22 months of executive orders, and expansions to his power, etc..

    he has the ukraine…
he has the invasion of the baltics done to destroy nator
    he has the senkakus
he has Iran with nukes from its duplicate centers
he has Ebola and open borders
he has polar bear hunting and antisemitism
he has north korea and its games
he has economic malaise that can trigger crisis

and he can have them all at once…
    or go a la carte…

there is even more than that, and there are things that are not even on the radar as well..

a few well placed executive orders that favor one group heavily, and denude another, like white men, could put the electorate at each others throughts as one side feels entitled to the gift, the other side feels ripped off and willing to defend.

  6. The Obama administration has very quietly and subtly done many inexplicable things that could very well be precursors to the suspension of some, if not all, of Americans’ constitutionally protected civil rights.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-

In America, martial law must be called for by the President, who would then suspend most, if not all, of our constitutional rights, and only the President would be able to reinstitute our constitutional structure and declare an end to martial law.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Never in the history of our country have we faced so many destructive threats at the same time. America has also never had leadership that has failed to competently handle every single threat facing our country. If Obama isn’t one of the most inept people to ever hold elected office, then his actions must be calculated to produce these results.

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Obama knows he is unpopular with the military, therefore, he has had to find a different way to institute martial law – and that is through a “civilian national security force.”

On July 2, 2008 at a campaign stop, Obama made the following unscripted statement: “We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Obama has militarized almost every federal agency. In September of 2013, 70 federal agents in full body armor, carrying M-16s raided one person’s gold mining operation in a tiny Alaska town. They were from the Environmental Protection Agency looking for violations of the Clean Air Act.

After this incident it was found that Obama had created law enforcement branches in over 70 federal agencies. It is estimated that there are over 120,000 law enforcement agents in the federal government who are not part of traditional law enforcement branches – CIA, FBI, DEA, ATF, DHS, DOJ, and Treasury Dept.

These law enforcement branches Obama has created are not comprised of just one or two security guards. Obama has armed these agencies to the teeth. Maj. General Jerry Curry, a 40 year, decorated, military veteran, wrote an op-ed for The Daily Caller pointing out how, in addition to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrations’ purchase of 46,000 hollow point bullets, the Social Security Administration (SSA) bought 174,000 hollow point bullets.

Maj. Gen. Curry said, “Hollow point bullets are so lethal that the Geneva Convention does not allow their use on the battlefield in time of war. Hollow point bullets don’t just stop or hurt people, they penetrate the body, spread out, fragment and cause maximum damage to the body’s organs. Death often follows. Potentially each hollow nose bullet represents a dead American. If so, why would the U.S. government want the SSA to kill 174,000 of our citizens, even during a time of civil unrest? Or is the purpose to kill 174,000 of the nation’s military and replace them with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) special security forces, forces loyal to the Administration, not to the Constitution?”

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Curry goes on, “In the war in Iraq, our military forces expended approximately 70 million rounds per year. In March (of 2012) DHS ordered 750 million rounds of hollow point ammunition. It then turned around and ordered an additional 750 million rounds of miscellaneous bullets including some that are capable of penetrating walls. This is enough ammunition to empty five rounds into the body of every living American citizen.”

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

but the FEMA camps are not fema camps… the administration that has lied so much says… and why need hollow points? and what was that missile off the coast of california… and why the urban warfare training in the big cities around the country using apache helicopters… why does florida police have 8 such helicopters… why allow russian troops to train on US soil? open borders allows one to bring in specialists from other places…

and dont forget all those exutive orders tweaked so that this can happen at any moment he says “go!”.

then there is the internal passports…. and so much stuff tht no one wants to talk about, why should i bother mentioning it?

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

  7. Last Friday Obama made good on his promise to use executive action to expand his authority and quietly signed the order called National Defense Resources Preparedness which puts our nation in a permanent state of martial law that only needs to be activated by the President, whenever he should so choose to do so.

    when i brought that up…
ho hum went neo and everyone

A frightening aspect of the latest version is that acts of aggression towards the United States homeland by outside forces is no longer required in order for implementation. Obama’s version states specifically that it can apply during peace time as well, and that all actions specified within the order are under Obama’s direction.

The entire economy will come under the president’s direction once the order is implemented and he will issue regulations establishing nationwide procedures and standards of production. This will include the control of “general distribution of any material (including applicable services) to the civilian market.”

Additionally all manufacturing will cease unless approved by the president and anything that is produced the government will be given first rights to. It will also give the administration the authority to seize private companies and facilities and modify or change they way they operate as it sees fit, which pretty much means that private business will be told what they can make, how they’re supposed to make it, and when they have to make it.

Civilian transportation of all types will also fall under its control along with food supplies, all forms of energy production, farms and farm equipment, water resources, and all healthcare resources.

Within it FEMA camps are also mentioned and given the authority to carry out emergency preparedness mandates as specified in the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief Act. The act is what created the ‘temporary housing’ facilities for people who have been displaced which we all know as FEMA camps.

while the bricks were being laid, and were preventable, i could not get the conversation going on all this and a whole lot more… (including removing officers who would not fire on US citizens, removing experienced military, etc.. )

you can be sure that when he does this, russia will act with china… or do you think they will sit on the side and watch the chaos and do nothig?

wait till you all find out the stuff i have had no time nor place nor forum to mention… wowsers…

  8. You make some excellent points, Neo, if we had more sentient citizens. This country is so divided and set in their beliefs. Most people are not deep thinkers. Quite a few are not able to see beyond the nose on their face. I imagine some people will wake up in the same matter of post Carter and post Clinton. But not enough to make a real difference. Anyone still bringing up his past will probably just seem obsessed to most people. To me, the saddest, scariest thing is: we have already come to this point as a country, at what is closer to the beginning of what will be an increasingly ill educated, more distracted, attention deficitted, propagandized citizenry; i.e. it’s going to get worse.

  9. Dry run?

Vandalism in Arizona Shut Down Internet, Cellphone, Telephone Service Across State
Incident raises concerns a domestic or international terrorist could tamper with U.S. infrastructure

    http://freebeacon.com/national-security/vandalism-in-arizona-shut-down-internet-cellphone-telephone-service-across-state/

“There was a vandalism that took place on a fiber optic cable that basically runs from Phoenix to Northern Arizona,” said Alex Juarez, a spokesman for CenturyLink in Arizona.

“We’re not sure what the intent was, but they were able to cut the fiber optic cable, possibly using a hacksaw,” Juarez explained. “It looks like a pretty straight cut.”

The cable is located in a desert area north of Phoenix, meaning it is not a site routinely accessed by passersby.

“It’s a desert area, so it’s very remote, extremely remote,” Juarez said.

Police say vandals must have used heavy equipment to expose the cable.

“The fiber optic cable was encased in metal piping which would have to have been accessed prior to reaching the optics,” the police said in a statement. “This indicates a power tool of type may have been used.”

    -=-=-=-=-

“This doesn’t look like ‘vandalism’ but rather like sabotage,” said Rachel Ehrenfeld, the founder and CEO of the American Center for Democracy (ACD) and its Economic Warfare Institute (EWI). “Next time it could be both the fiber optic cables and a cell-tower or two.”

heck.. anyone with minor knowlege could do a whole lot given certain things… in fact, i wont say anything as i dont want to give anyone ideas the points are so easy, unguarded, and potentially destructive…

  10. I used to wonder if he would ignore the 22nd ammendment. I don’t think we need to worry about that now. He has done what he came to do and is now ready to go golf and party to his heart’s content, a very wealthy man.

  11. Certainly, points political and associations political – but everything is not political. There is the question of a deeply disordered personality that is Obama and that point should be driven in deep. Giuliani’s point was just such, not purely political, but a question of character, deceit, fakeness.

Fakes, true fakes such as Obama, are self-made. They ought be called on it. Obama brings to mind Moliere’s character Tartuffe. Tartuffe was a religious imposter who took control of a household by the pretense of piety. Moliere’s point was that such preposterous faking went to the heart of character and the essence of the person engaged in it. Tartuffe’s beliefs are not simply pretense, Tartuffe is pretense, they’re – both of them – fake.

Furthermore, does Obama have any ennobling quality? Just one? Anything positive? Even at the dim end of the spectrum? Decent? Ordinary guy? Well meaning? Tries hard? Even off the spectrum. Amusingly eccentric? Does card tricks? Does a great Reggie Brown impersonation? This point should also be driven through the heart.
Is their anything to “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy” that is either true or relevant to a position of power and responsibility? Yet isn’t that the standard now? The alien who appears to us, as us, gets a pass.

In regard to future elections, I shudder at the prospect of ‘the first mainstream Muslim-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy’. How many ‘not an islamophobe’ votes does that get? Those great invasion of the alien pods movies of the ‘50s had got it right — look not for the alien looking, look for the pods that have are practiced to look, sound, act, like an ordinary human. Look for fakes. Obama was not difficult to spot for any but the brave new world of the Age of Aquarius types.

  12. Big problem with trying to enlighten the electorate on these matters is that kind of history lesson is so, well, “yesterday,” and we now live in a culture where that just seems ridiculous to many, if not most.

I was just reminded of this by Marco Rubio’s response to questions today at CPAC:

“At 43, Rubio is the youngest of the potential presidential candidates appearing at the Conservative Political Action Conference. Asked what the words ‘Hillary Clinton’ meant to him, he replied, ‘Yesterday.’ Barack Obama? ‘Failed.’ ”

Good responses, but that “yesterday” did remind me that he’s representative of the generations for whom that’s just about the worst you can say about someone.

  13. Interestingly, I heard several different people on several different occasions bring up the same Obama-Tartuffe comparison. Apparently it has occurred to many people as a fitting one.

  14. Artfldgr,

Take your meds, your paranoia is showing 😉

None of the examples you cite are sufficiently credible. A crisis severe enough to create a societal consensus that nationwide martial law is needed to restore order cannot be initiated by Obama’s executive orders. And for martial law to stick, there must be consensus. The military is not going to obey clearly unlawful orders and Obama knows it. He said it the other day, he’ll stretch his ‘authority’ as far as he thinks he can make an arguably, if legally duplicitous case for but the bar for martial law is stratospheric.

Obama’s “National Defense Resources Preparedness” does NOT put our nation in a permanent state of martial law. Given the threats our nation faces, the President, through federal agencies being prepared to act quickly and appropriately is prudent foresight. That Obama would welcome a credible crisis as an excuse to declare martial law is not… evidence that he can do so with the impunity that you imply.

“It is estimated that there are over 120,000 law enforcement agents in the federal government who are not part of traditional law enforcement branches – CIA, FBI, DEA, ATF, DHS, DOJ, and Treasury Dept.”

    Evidence please.

Regarding nationwide martial law, which occurred under Lincoln:

    “ex parte Milligan

On September 15, 1863, Lincoln imposed Congressionally-authorized martial law. The authorizing act allowed the President to suspend habeas corpus throughout the entire United States. Lincoln imposed the suspension on “prisoners of war, spies, or aiders and abettors of the enemy,” as well as on other classes of people, such as draft dodgers. The President’s proclamation was challenged in ex parte Milligan (71 US 2 [1866]). The Supreme Court ruled that Lincoln’s imposition of martial law (by way of suspension of habeas corpus) was unconstitutional.”

Absent a crisis with widespread consensual support, were Obama to attempt to unilaterally declare martial law using federal agencies, as no “civilian national security force” exists, it would be seen as an attempt at a coup and the military would stop it.

    Regarding the vandalism in Arizona;
Both the remoteness of the cut fiber optic cable in the Arizona desert and the fact that 99% of young ‘vandals’ would not know either its importance or what it is used for are a strong indication that this was indeed a ‘dry run’. Any competent investigator would know this but no federal agency is going to admit it.

    KLSmith,

    That is my perception of Obama as well. Laughing all the way to the bank with 500k speech fees awaits and, at some point, the only theoretical step up from the US Presidency beckons, namely;

“The Secretary-General of the United Nations (UNSG) is the head of the United Nations Secretariat, one of the principal organs of the United Nations.

[The] Secretary-General also acts as the de facto spokesperson and leader of the United Nations. Secretaries General serve for five-year terms that can be renewed indefinitely…”

Where he can push for globalization and bringing our national sovereignty under UN control. As an example for the rest of the world to follow, you understand…

  15. While I favor strict border security, the border security I favor most is a wall around DC. DC is the threat, not a solution that can be reformed. Starve DC for the children and granchildren.

  16. GB: that and/or being on some TV show a couple of times a week trashing the new president if it’s a Republican. Hopefully he’ll just stay on the golf course.

  18. Based on past behavior, Leftists will give up the entire location of your family to the Islamic and Leftist death squads. That’s not considered evil by some, just people being misguided Democrats.

If a nuke drops on that city, it won’t be much of a loss.

  19. Left unnamed in the opening paragraph is arguably Obama’s most important Communist influence – Frank Marshall Davis. An intellectual Party member introduced as a mentor at age nine has to be huge in forming a boy’s world outlook.

  20. We feared that Obama’s second term would be worse, but up until recently, the encroachments seemed manageable even if they weren’t pleasant.
Now, all of a sudden, he’s stepped on the gas and it’s pure, uncut fascism flying around.
The only saviors we have are the courts and bureaucratic inertia. Maybe we can wait him out.

  21. Matt_SE:

He was waiting for the election of 2014 to be over before he stepped on the gas. He needed to see how much gas he would require, and how hard he would have to press.

  22. I’m currently reading Allan Ryskind’s Hollywood Traitors: Agents of Stalin, Allies of Hitler. Stefan Kanfer in City Journal just published a (softball) review of it as well.

Well, folks, Ryskind (son of Morrie, the Marx Bros. screenwriter who got hip to the Commies really early on) has written a thoroughly sourced and annotated expose of the Hollywood Communists: yes, all of the Hollywood “Ten” were literally card-carrying members of the CP-USA (details and card #s at the end of the book); yes, the Communists thoroughly infiltrated Hollywood’s guilds and unions, especially the screenwriters’ guild; and yes, it did, and does, make a huge difference to our culture and the citizens’ support for the West, for democracy, for America, and for freedom.

(Kanfer dismisses it all as a tad overwrought, the usual libbie pooh-pooh of the “Red scare.”)

But if you read the book, you may well be shocked. The Red infiltration of our culture industry was a hell of a lot WORSE than even that part exposed by the House Un-American Activities Committee (n.b., Senator McCarthy wasn’t part of the House investigation — he was after Soviet spies in the US Govt., all of whom have been revealed in later years as, yes, Soviet spies “for reals”).

Ryskind dug through the archives, and found that only one of the Hollywood Ten ever broke with Communism; that Reagan really did lead the charge to get the Screen Actors Guild out of the Communists’ clutches; that the Reds nearly took over the craft unions etc. That Charlie Chaplin was most definitely a “fellow traveler,” i.e., a Communist in all but name. Oh, there’s a lot more in there. But just to give you a taste:

“To this day Hollywood honors the Left for their supposed ‘anti-fascist’ leadership, a claim that is utterly undermined by the events of the Fourth American Writers’ Congress, which showcased the luminaries of the Hollywood Left applying all their prestige and considerable polemical skills to oppose any American effort to assist in the fight against Hitler, or even to bolster our own emaciated defenses.

“This appalling spectacle took place against the backdrop of Hitler’s swift and brutal conquest of Western Europe and his murderous bombing assaults against England.

“Since the Hitler-Stalin Pact, the Fuehrer had taken the western half of Poland in September of 1939, launched his war against western Europe in the spring of 1940, conquered Denmark and Norway, overrun the Low Countries (Holland, Belgium, and Luxembourg), and then aimed his legions at France.

“… Paris fell on June 14, and France surrendered just one week later. When France fell, Molotov, Stalin’s minister of foreign affairs, sent Hitler his congratulations.

“On July 10, 1940, the Nazis began the Battle of Britain, raining death and destruction on the country’s major cities and coastal towns. Fascism was on the march — but the supposed ‘anti-Fascists’ of the Hollywood Left were lining up with the Fuehrer.

They were doing everything they could to make sure that America in no way interfered with Hitler’s triumphs.”

  23. Something else about the book “Hollywood Traitors”: Their methods, their cant, their lines of attack, and their tactics Have Not Changed. If you read it, and I hope you will, you will find yourself thinking, “This could have been written about what was going on just last week,” or “That’s the slander they’re Still using against us.”

Here’s one more taste: this is how they disciplined Party member Albert Maltz, for daring to say that a rigid adherence to the Red concept of “art as a weapon” was not good for art: it meant that “even a ‘thin’ literary work, as long as it followed the Communist Party line, would be reviewed warmly.”

Well! Here’s what they did to him.

He was pilloried in article after article in all the CP and CP-front publications. The “Daily Worker’s” literary critic launched a series of abusive attacks, charging that Maltz was undermining class warfare, the core of Communism, and Lenin himself. Howard Fast, William Foster, and John Howard Lawson (and others) excoriated him.

And here’s the really chilling part:

“He had been so politically incorrect that he was compelled to go ‘on trial’ in two face-to-face encounters with several comrades. [The following is from testimony by former Communist Leopold Atlas before HUAC.]

“An execution squad, shipped in from the East, came marching in.” When Maltz made an effort to defend himself, “almost instantly all sorts of howls went up to protest against it.” A few in the group, including Atlas, made “small attempts to speak” in Maltz’s favor, but “we were literally shouted down. . . The wolves were loose and you should have seen them. It was a spectacle for all time.”

From one corner, “Alvah Bessie, with bitter vituperation and venom, rose up and denounced Maltz. From another corner Herbert Biberman rose and spouted elaborate mouthfuls of nothing, his every accent dripping with hatred. Others, from every part of the room, jumped in on the kill.”

The merits of Maltz’s article aside, said Atlas, “this spectacle was appalling to me. . . . Maltz, I knew, was an associate of theirs of long standing. … They worked him over with every verbal fang and claw at their command,; every axe and bludgeon, and they had plenty. They evidently were past masters at this sort of intellectual cannibalism.”

Maltz refused to break — so the meeting adjourned in the wee hours of the morning. BUT it was reconvened a week later, and, Atlas relates, this time “they completely broke him. This hyena attack … continued with a rising snarl of triumph, making him crawl and recant.”

… Maltz not only abjectly apologized at the meeting but groveled in print as well. . . . Imitating victims of the Moscow purge trials, he publicly clawed himself bloody for being guilty of “revisionism.” . . . He even assailed those, like Atlas, who thought he’d been too harshly criticized. . . .”

    First Amendment heroes? Wow.

BTW: the Reds have historically used the term “community organizer” to mean, explicitly, a Communist or fellow traveler (i.e., communist w/out card) who “organizes” the community to go Communist. They’re having a lot of fun waving BO’s Red credentials under our noses, aren’t they?

  24. Beverly: I was surprised that Obama claimed his experience as a community organizer as a qualification for becoming president. And I was really surprised that the Republicans couldn’t manage the message that a community organizer is also referred to as a community agitator. I guess that would have been racist or something.

  25. Thank you Beverly!

  26. Beverly

This is what Socrates threw in the face of his death panel.

I would rather die having spoken in my manner, than speak in your manner and live. For neither in war nor yet in law ought any man use every way of escaping death. For often in battle there is no doubt that if a man will throw away his arms, and fall on his knees before his pursuers, he may escape death, if a man is willing to say or do anything. The difficulty, my friends, is not in avoiding death, but in avoiding unrighteousness; for that runs deeper than death.

Westerners have gotten much softer spines in the recent centuries, it seems.

Matt, I notice you’re no longer predicting that people will turn against Hussein because of the pain of Obamacare broken promises. Why is that? Is the next 1-2 years not enough for that prediction to come true, will we be waiting a thousand years for it?

  27. The Left is allied with evil. Okay. Hitler plus Stalin, known to certain circles.

Leftist alliance allied with Islamic Jihad? Not as well known.

  28. “Maybe if these things were talked about again now, Obama’s connections to Communism, Ayers, Wright, and Alinsky would be heard and understood for what they might signify. In 2008 those reports were widely dismissed.”

Nothing has changed over these 6 years. Not with respect to any willingness by the Kool Aid drinkers to open their eyes to Obama’s ignorance of economics, worldly perspective, stubbornness in building bridges.
Nothing has changed. Period. The ideologues have been sleep walking through all of the controversies, ALL OF THE SCANDALS, all of the utter nonsense emerging from the white house.
To suggest that they “would be heard” now is folly. For whatever reasons offered.
And that is the simple, hard-to-swallow Truth.

(I am not suggesting that anyone cease talking about them. Just that these issues have not continuously been discussed by aforementioned sources. And NO ONE is going to get the MSM to start now. FACT.)

I thought it was obvious I meant talked about by politicians, not just by pundits, talk show hosts, or right wing bloggers, especially when I wrote “Guiliani, for example,” which was meant to recall the previous discussions of the topic here on the blog about politicians bringing this sort of thing up (such as this, this, and this). I saw the present post as a continuation of the conversation begun in those previous posts.

But I can see how I might have been misunderstood. So I hope I just made it crystal clear.

Of course the MSM won’t talk about it on their own. The idea is for someone like Giuliani (but not just Giuliani either; one or two candidates too) to say this publicly and prominently, and then the MSM covers it as though it were a “gaffe,” and that’s the way it comes to people’s attention. But people would be less inclined now to see it as a gaffe or a lunatic assertion, and more as a relevant and important discussion to have.

  31. The MSM didn’t have to make Obama’s radicalness palpable. They just had to make his opposition seem to be far worse by hammering away at them daily as mean and uncaring people. We basically have a Marxist destroying our society because he’s not like the “bad” guys.
