Romney loses again — 20 Comments

  1. Ah, the yen for the public eye. A charity, you say? A pretend boxing match between a former politician who never boxed and a former boxer who never ran for office? You know how galactically weird that seems? I took about every psychedelic that came from a cactus, a mushroom, or a test tube and I never came up with anything that strange.

Once that exhibitionist gene gets expressed there is no little dogie left un-lassoed, no matter how maverick.

  2. All indications are that Romney is a genuinely decent fellow who would have been a good president. Obama comes up short on both counts.

  3. What Mr. Frank said. This charity bout made me smile. Why is everyone so cynical?

  4. I had to think about this a bit but I really like the total silliness of this match up. Romney is a decent guy and he didn’t bite Holyfield’s ear off. Holyfield was careful and he didn’t knock Romney into next week. I think fun events like this, putting wealthy powerful Romney in the ring with one of the most physically strong and powerful boxers of all time is great.

Pasty white guy and smiling black guy cutting up for a good cause probably helps race relations more than most anything else going on right now. Two men having fun being playful, goofy and absurd is something that almost all guys of any age can appreciate and enjoy and maybe wish Romney was running for office again.

This is a lot more entertaining than when we used to watch a goofy Arkansas governor play saxophone badly on late night TV and look how that dog and pony show turned out over 20 years ago.

It’s nice to see a Republican do something besides telling everyone how screwed up things are, even when they’re right.

Thanks Neo for a good laugh today.

  5. “It’s nice to see a Republican do something besides telling everyone how screwed up things are, even when they’re right.”

I sort of resent that. I’ve gone door to door working for the Broden campaign in some of the worst neighborhoods in Dallas, trying to tell people as gently and clearly as possible that Eddie Bernice Johnson thinks less of them than I do. And that she only gets away with it because of some misplaced racial solidarity. And that they deserve better than that.

Not just telling them that things are screwed up. But that there’s a way out. What that way looks like, to anyone who would listen.

As you can see, like Mitt Romney I failed. But I have tried. I know quite a few Republicans (conservatives) who do more than just complain. Not that anyone would know, based on the media coverage.

  6. Steve57, you are right and I was not trying to step on any toes. I lived most of my adult life in Dallas and I watched the politics change and some sorry Democrats gain power. I was mostly referring to the way non conservatives perceive us Republicans through the message of the media.

I did a fair amount of time in South Dallas as a Jr. High substitute teacher the first time I retired and I observed first hand how large parts of the population in large cities have been caught in a multi generational trap, living a life of governmental dependance.

Many thanks go out to you and I appreciate your efforts to help voters learn that they have a chance to elect better candidates who do care about them.

  7. A CHARITY EVENT.

    TO RAISE MONEY.

    FOR A GOOD CAUSE.

Wow, and I thought ballet was a “stretch”…

  8. Meh. My guess is men with that much money can have doctors… doctor anything, one way or another. At least it doesn’t look like he has taken too many roids or such. Though I am betting on a lifetime of lypo and minor uppers to burn off even more excess.

As to going shirtless, men, of any age or build, just shouldn’t. Women look far better shirtless, but that’s illegal. That’s one equality that would be good to get into law and common practice. Even for boxing.

  9. “I like my men with a little more meat in the calf. ”

“She did commend my yellow stockings of late, she did praise my leg being cross-gartered, and in this she manifests herself to my love, and with a kind of injunction, drives me to these habits of her liking. I thank my stars I am happy. I will be strange, stout, in yellow stockings, and cross-gartered, even with the swiftness of putting on”

  10. Not that anyone would know, based on the media coverage.

That is perhaps for the best, if you value your privacy and safety. Else you will soon be on the Left’s list.

And not the JournoList one, mind you. The other List.

  11. Else you will soon be on the Left’s list.
And not the JournoList one, mind you. The other List….

Maybe there is some Hope ‘n Change!

I believe it when I see it. The gut wrenching need to foul their own beds is that strong ….

    -Armored trucks & ammunition

  13. The spoils from their recent conquest of Ramadi are said to include:…x,y,z … for which they posted a thank you note.

    Thanks Obama.

  14. The more Americans think letting the Left conquer and kill foreign nations is going to help, the more powerful the Left and their allies become. It’s called transfer of power, like redistribution of wealth when the stock market crashes. 1-10% of the stock owners sold it, so all the wealth transferred to them, and what was left was redistributed back to the 90% of the retards that didn’t get the hint.

  15. Undeniably consider that which you stated. Your favorite justification appeared to be at the web the easiest thing to be mindful of.
I say to you, I definitely get annoyed even as other folks
consider issues that they plainly do not recognize about.

You managed to hit the nail upon the top and also outlined out the entire thing without having
side effect , people could take a signal. Will likely be again to get more.

    Thank you
