Two deals: Munich and Iran — 21 Comments

  1. Love VDH. He is the best.

VDH, and other historians, were guests/lecturers to the Bush WH. VDH received a Presidential medal for his work.

Since the Obama crowd proclaim themselves as the smartest ever, just wondering who are the historians they consult.

  2. Cornhead: “…just wondering who are the historians they consult.”

People like Zinn and his kind, to be sure…

  3. Had the Polish, Czechs, and Russians united and stood firm, Hitler would have either backed down or would have been defeated – at a time when he was vastly outnumbered on his vulnerable Western borders.

given that Hitler was made more bold by Molitov, that is a curious sentence to include… if only the person that was in on it, helped foment it, and made agreements in secret to not only not get in the way, but share the spoils, stood firm…

ok… sure… while VDH is often a very good read, sometimes what he says tows the party line enough that he gets published..

oh, if only the partner in crime stood firm against the crime there would be no crime…

  4. by the way, given the history of empire and the police empire, there was NO WAY that russia and poland would stand together having hated each other for centuries… and those old hatreds STILL exist and inform outcomes… i guess historical fact without that which is not really in the histories, can bend like a new age cirque du soleil contortionist…

  5. What I’m finding hard to comprehend in this business is, given their personal vanity, how do either Obama or John Kerry think they will look to history or even just in a couple of years. I can’t believe they honestly think this will turn out well.

So what then? What are they thinking?

  6. Fun fact I found on Allen West’s blog: Kerry’s daughter, Vanessa, married an Iranian-American Behrooz “Brian” Vala Nahid in 2009.

The best man? The son of Mohammad Javad Zarif. Zarif is is the current minister of foreign affairs in the Rouhani administration and Kerry’s chief counterpart in the nuclear deal egotiations. But Kerry met Zarif much earlier, they “…first met over a decade ago at a dinner party hosted by George Soros at his Manhattan penthouse.”

We don’t understand the deal because we see Iran as America’s enemy. Kerry does not.

  7. It is so spurious to compare Obama/Kerry and Chamberlain. Neville Chamberlain was ultimately the goat; but, he was very much in the main stream of thinking when he faced Hitler. In fact, I only know of one man who voiced strong opposition.

Sadly, people who have no knowledge of history; e.g. the Millennials, who do have the right to vote, but, are either largely ignorant, or largely brain-washed, have no frame of reference for comparison. Chamberlain dealt from a position of profound weakness whereas Obama and Kerry squandered a position of overwhelming strength.

Arfldgr thinks that VDH toes the party line? Really? He is correct, however, when he states that there was no way that Poland and Russia would stand together against Germany. Russia rushed in to feast on the scraps of the Polish corpse after Germany gobbled up their fill.

  8. VDH talking about the West in 1938: “Hitler brilliantly judged the appeasing mentalities of his far more powerful enemies.” To me in 2015, it seems that many good, white liberals have appeasing mentalities. It is a cowardly personality disposition that cannot change much. They apply it to most human interactions from elementary-school discipline to threats by aggressive and powerful nation states.

  9. Nothing emboldens predators more than fear. The West’s attempt to appease religious fanatics committed to the acquisition of nuclear weapons capability will result in a catastrophe(s) far greater than WWII.

  10. Miklos:

Hard to understand? From the administration that has been working on short-term horizons it’s entire time? Kicking the can down the road is their modus operandi. No concern for the consequences: there will be another president in the White House, probably from another party.

  11. The mannish boy wants to empower iran, kerry-heinz is a mere poster boy for the historical ignorance of the dullards of the left who want to roast marshmallows around the campfire with their eventual executioners.

  12. This video is a comedy act. However, it’s pretty much spot on as to the terms of this “deal.” It’s good for a laugh, but this is actually a pretty grim outcome for us.

    Iranian Negotiator Discusses Nuclear Deal:

Kerry and Obama were not only was sold a fake Persian carpet, but they rolled them up in it and they don’t even know it.

  13. “Kerry and Obama were not only was sold a fake Persian carpet, but they rolled them up in it and they don’t even know it.” Jimmy J

    Don’t even know it?

Kerry is on record, stating quite explicitly, the resultant dangers that would emerge, should Iran gain nuclear weapons capability.

If Lurch knows, there’s no doubt that Obama knows.

Lurch doesn’t care if Iran has nukes, Obama welcomes it.

Both are celebrating, Lurch because it gives him a shot at a nobel prize and Obama because it brings closer the day when “America’s chickens come home to roost”.

  14. G.B.: “Both are celebrating, Lurch because it gives him a shot at a nobel prize and Obama because it brings closer the day when “America’s chickens come home to roost”.”

It could be true. They may think their lives won’t be affected by the war that’s coming. They may be wrong.

  15. They may think their lives won’t be affected by the war that’s coming. They may be wrong.

Plenty of people thought that the police is owed obedience and loyalty because supposedly they “protect us” from criminals and lawlessness.

Those people end up facing Baltimore, citizens protecting the police and the police refusing to enforce any laws in return. Being wrong is a matter of record and it is a matter of too many vices too.

  16. To clarify, the police in Baltimore and much of the rest of this Democrat regime based nation, are guilty of gluttony. The people that defend the police and try to boost their power, are also guilty of gluttony and sloth.

The people that saw the true nature of the police’s actions and how they related to individual or state rights, exercised temperance. The people should be tempered with controlling their neighborhoods, rather than letting other entities take up the duty. It is not the duty of any other entity, including the police, to take over a neighborhood or a city’s functions. And if it is, it should not be so.

As for the issue of J Fing Kerry, Jimmy J’s comment is diligent and temperate. Without jumping to a conclusion immediately, restraining himself, although that doesn’t mean he is right. Doesn’t mean he is wrong too.

The patience of Jimmy J over the years if I have the personage correct, has prevented him from calling for violence or non peaceful solutions. Normally that would be a virtue, but I think it has exceeded the limits of moderation at this point. How long before patience turns from a virtue, for this evil Regime that has long withstood the test of time, to merely being the guilt of being kind to the cruel?

Being full of wrath is probably not a good idea, but at these times, I don’t think it is a bad thing to have the virtue of patience and the vice of wrath together. Since they negate each other and sometimes is better, at least in a war.

Wrath and anger is considered a bad thing in this society, like violence. Such things allow the Left to do as they please, and if it is the only thing that can stop evil now, is it still a sin, a vice?

  17. Three huge economic points to consider.

    1. WTI under $50 bbl. Major pressure on US oil companies. While the market has somewhat factored in the new production from Iran, it is inescapable that Iran’s production hurts OUR companies.

    2. Iran will be buying ICBMs as part of this deal. Who makes ICBMs? Who will sell? I’m guessing Russia and China.

    3. Boeing was already touting the sale of passenger jets to Iran. And then either the CEO or Chairman was bitching about losing Boeing’s ExIm subsidy. Threatened to move Boeing’s tax domicile or some such thing. Ingrate and near traitors. Disgraceful.

  18. Hussein is probably planning to bankrupt the fracking industry, slam them with regulations and taxes, then transfer the assets over to his Democrat pals.
