The first debate: all hail Queen Hillary — 38 Comments

  1. What a blessing! The leftist heir apparent is seen by most of America as dishonest, mean, and robotic. A Scoop Jackson style Jim Webb is not in our best interests, and we can be very grateful that the SJW battalions won’t stop trying to push Hillary (or even better, Bernie) down America’s throats. Pray they both stay healthy enough to keep tottering around, irritating and frightening normal people and making another Republican wave election likely.

  2. Unless Gowdy nails Hillary or the Obama DOJ indicts her, she is the nominee.

    Good.

    Carly will carve her up.

  3. Webb is very close to the South, so that’s why his Democrat credentials are a bit flaky at the moment. But if he was not a Blue Dog Democrat, if he had actually got in the way of the Left, they would have purged him the way they purged Lieberman.

  4. Everyone aside from Rodham is spineless. What’s the point of coming to a debate if you don’t debate.

I am sure we will find out soon that the much praised Comey (FBI) also turns out to not have a spine.

Begin practicing saying “President Hillary Clinton” and the endless debate on why and how the Democrats drubbed the Republican candidate.

  5. To me, a lot of it looked staged, choreographed, rehearsed (e.g., Bernie gratuitously sucking up to Hillary re the email scandal).

It’s galling to face the fact that half the people in this country fall for this BS. Hook, line and sinker…

  6. Painful to watch. Blue sky promises as numerous as a flock of starlings. Peace at any price, no more “excessive” criminal justice, blaming the problems in the ME on Bush and the Iraq invasion, condemning capitalism, identity politics galore, free education, free medical care, more jobs, more guvmint programs, and so much more.

Then there was Jim Webb, the only serious adult on the stage, asking how it will be paid for and suggesting we might need to defend ourselves. He should switch parties. The democrat party has left him.

  7. Free stuff and more government programs. That’s what I got out of it. Oh and the rich will be paying for it all. Not a single cut in anything.

I have this gut feeling that I will be paying for some of the free stuff too while living on a pension and SS.

  8. One more thing. It was very telling that only one person out of five had the guts to say “all lives matter.” That should be plastered on every bill board, tv ads …everywhere!

  9. Of course the msm crowned hrc the winner. Many of them are on board with the clinton foundation. But the wizard behind the curtain is bho. He will determine who is the nominee and all the dems will fall in line to obey.

  10. J.J. : Webb has already switched once. But Bush was evil or something so he became a Dem. have no idea why he is running. He chose not to run for re-election as a senator from VA. But somehow running for President is supposed to be easier?

  11. CBS FM radio this morning said that Bernie Sanders looks like most villians you have seen in Scooby Doo…

    Carly will carve her up.

carly may ask her to be VP and hillary may do the same for carly if she wins… without the convenient reversals you might actually understand that a feminist liek carly is on the left by being part of the front of feminists… (a front puts people together who push one point of the whole).

Everyone aside from Rodham is spineless. What’s the point of coming to a debate if you don’t debate.

women are equal, unless you attack them, then they are very unequal as the rest of the world runs to their defense… so how can you debate honestly if that is the outcome of winning a point?

  14. That was the most bizarre debate I’ve ever seen. Chaffee seemed like some sort of specter arriving too early for Halloween. Webb was very stiff and formal and like others have said, seemed to have lost his way to the GOP debate. O’Malley acted the most “presidential” but kept trying to go further left than the two loons to his right on the stage. Sanders forgot that this isn’t 1968; I was just waiting for him to raise his fist in the air. And Hillary….that continuous fake smile and her shifty eyes..OMG! Note I don’t mention anything about policy, etc….that’s because there’s no difference between any of them. As a column today at NRO said, it’s now an openly socialist party. They really should change their name.

  15. The 53% will get what they want, and they will get it good and hard. After Rodham is finished punishing the 47%, of course.

  16. I didn’t watch it. The point of watching escaped me and still does.

“Blue sky promises as numerous as a flock of starlings. Peace at any price, no more “excessive” criminal justice, blaming the problems in the ME on Bush and the Iraq invasion, condemning capitalism, identity politics galore, free education, free medical care, more jobs, more guvmint programs, and so much more.” J.J.

Entirely predictable. To buy into it, you have to want to believe the lies.

“Free stuff and more government programs. Oh and the rich will be paying for it all.” jack

That’s the mantra. That’s the promise and that’s the con.

“The leftist heir apparent is seen by most of America as dishonest, mean, and robotic.” Raincityjazz

Yet… they’ll still vote for her. Or a Biden/Warren ticket. Two other people proven to be fundamentally dishonest.

At some point, the stupidity becomes willful ‘blindness’. It’s more than simply a rejection of critical thinking, as it rests upon a complete denial of personal responsibility and accountability.

Reality will yet extract its price, which will be commensurate with the degree and extent of denial. Reality being nature’s feedback mechanism.

  17. expat…that was hilarious!!! Of course you had to have watched the debate, but they really nailed. Thanks!

  18. “Reality being nature’s feedback mechanism.”

Reality has consumed trillions over the course of human history. Same as it ever was. If you don’t already know the basics of survival, the learning curve is sharp and short. Choose your allies wisely.

  19. Could barely stand to read the highlights, let alone watch the actual debate. But if Bernie really wanted to beat Hilary and earn the nomination, why on earth would he hand her that Valentine regarding her email scandal? Why wouldn’t he hammer that weakness? Obviously he doesn’t actually want the job, or has no idea how to campaign at this level. Or probably both.

I’d be curious to know your reasons for doubting the story. John Schindler isn’t some kind of flake. If you’ve read that portion of his bio at your link then you should know he would have been thoroughly investigated to have the kind of clearances he’d have had in those positions. Including passing a lifestyle polygraph, which is an infuriating and embarrassing procedure in which you are grilled about the most intimate details of your life. In addition to what’s posted at the Gateway Pundit he’s also been a lecturer at the Naval War College.

In addition to being reliable and honest, as you must be to have and maintain those clearances, he would have contacts in diplomatic circles through his work.

In addition, I’ve seen more than a few hints over the years that there is something off, something not quite right, about Barack

  21. Sorry. That was my optical mouse sabotaging me.

As I believe neo has noticed, underneath the “no drama Obama” facade he is a very angry man. He strikes me as having a white-knuckle grip on the lid of the seething caldron of his anger.

Lately he seems to also have more and more of a white-knuckle grip on the bubble he lives in.

Even people on his side of the fence are noticing there is something weird about him. That was actually the word the WaPo’s David Ignatious used to describe the part of the 60 minutes interview when he practically spiked the football and declared victory when Kroft asked him about his administration’s failure to train and equip more than a handful of Syrian rebels at the cost of millions of dollars.

It was a very weird moment. It’s almost as if he doesn’t know he’s the President. He can blame others all he wants, and he practically said “I told you so” when he kept telling Kroft he knew from the start, but he’s the President. If he half-@sses it, I don’t care if something is the best idea in the world, he’ll be undermining his own program. Of course something won’t work if he implements even the best idea in the world so that it can’t work.

It never dawned on him that he can’t divorce himself from his own administration. It never dawned on him that he was talking about his own incompetence. It seemed as if he thought he was talking about somebody else and that other person’s incompetence. It was weird, but it wasn’t the only weird moment in that interview, and it wasn’t the only weird moment he’s had in public that seems to indicate he’s mentally unstable.

If my hunch is correct, then somebody in his inner circle had CENTCOM doctor the intel to protect the drama queen who thinks of himself as “no drama Obama” from reality. Likely because they’re worried about him melting down in public. I do believe that with just a couple more hard shoves he may go over the edge, and I also believe that Putin and the Iranians may deliver those shoves.

  22. I didn’t watch. My wife thinks that we are obligated to watch the other side, so there was a little domestic conflict. Since our house is limited, I could not help but hear a good bit of it. That is because HRC and BS believe that the way to demonstrate leadership and resolve is to shout everything. Oh, is she shrill.

Listening, one could almost think that it was a parody of Leftist ideological rhetoric.

I have no idea what Webb thought he was doing. I choked upon hearing him say that he was SecNAV under Reagan. I did not hear him admit that he quit in a huff after a year, because Reagan would not give him everything he wanted. If Webb seemed stiff, it was probably because he was desperately trying to control his nearly uncontrollable temper.

It’s considered elegant styling to talk down — then to raise the issue… a issue that speaks entirely on its own and of itself.

Sanders pulled a ‘Mark Antony’ on Hillary.

For many a Yellow Dog Democrat true believer had let the matter lie, as the sham media so oft neglected it.

  24. CV: “why on earth would he hand her that Valentine regarding her email scandal?”

The Left mocks US national security.

  25. Steve57:

Obama is a profound narcissist and an angry man. However—and it’s a big however—he has developed his emotional control to a fine art. I see the chances of his cracking up as near zero. His ability to distance himself from his own failures (that is, what others see as failures) is strong and protective as well as effective. In this post I explained how it works, and I believe his protective systems are very much intact and will remain so.

  26. …if Bernie really wanted to beat Hilary and earn the nomination, why on earth would he hand her that Valentine regarding her email scandal? Why wouldn’t he hammer that weakness? Obviously he doesn’t actually want the job, or has no idea how to campaign at this level. Or probably both.

That was my initial reaction to that, as well. But there might be something in this different take on it over at Vox:

One of Sanders’s most important moments in the debate – his defense of Clinton and criticism of the media over the email issue – was generally scored by pundits as a victory for Clinton. My colleague Ezra Klein, for instance, suggested it showed Sanders didn’t have the instinct for the jugular that will be necessary to take down the frontrunner.

But to Democratic voters, it could also speak to Sanders’s character, and mark him as a different kind of politician, who’s not interested in negative campaigning. Indeed, Fox News’s focus group wildly praised Sanders for this – it was their favorite moment in the entire debate.

  27. Couldn’t watch it. Followed Vodkapundit’s drunk blogging and Donald Trump’s tweets instead.

Seems like this debate was softball and the GOP debate was baseball.

I respect your judgement on this. As someone with a degree in family therapy you’re far closer to being a psychoanalyst then I’ll ever be.

Still, it may well be true that an EU diplomat approached John Schindler and let it slip that his government has concerns over Obama’s mental health.

And I’ve been hearing various people react with concern to what they saw in that 60 minutes interview. The WaPo’s Ingnatious called it weird. Others have had reactions to it ranging from disturbing to alarming.

Obama came across as detached from reality (Eli Lake, former senior national security correspondent for Newsweek and the Daily Beast and currently a columnist for Bloomberg View as well as a contributor to several other news outlets, said the same about Obama’s recent UN speech as well), testy, rambling, and irrational.

So perhaps words like meltdown or crack up or going over the edge are overly dramatic. But Obama hasn’t acquitted himself well in his recent public appearances. And it does have some people wondering, “Is this man OK, or was he just having a really bad day?”

It he was having a bad day, he’s been stringing quite a few of them together. I think the answer is he’s not OK. Maybe nothing dramatic will happen, but if he continues to have “bad days” more people may start questioning his executive and managerial competence but his mental competence as well.

  29. Steve57:

I think they’re just noticing what was always in evidence.

Obama has always been detached from reality, going all the way back to lots of things he said during his 2008 campaign. It has always been jarring to listen to him (at least, since I’ve been listening to him, which started in 2007), and his behavior has long been odd. Remember his giving the finger, as well as the brush off? And all those things about knowing more about foreign policy because he visited Pakistan as a college student? Or that he’s a better everything than anybody working for him?

Some of those are crass, and the rest are deluded (that is, if you don’t see that there is also strategy behind them). The thing is, lots of people used to think nothing of it. They thought him cool, competent, composed, and agreed about his superior brain and abilities. Some people are alarmed at what’s been happening lately in the world—the obvious chaos and disorder and loss of US influence—and that’s why they’ve suddenly noticed Obama’s rambling, his denial, his failure to take responsibility, his out-of-touchness with reality. But none of those things are the least bit new. There has been no change.

I do believe that Obama is not only a very controlled person, but that he’s a very consistent one. It’s the world around him that sees him differently now (at least, some people do).

  30. As someone with a degree in family therapy you’re far closer to being a psychoanalyst then I’ll ever be.

She didn’t do much psychoanalysis from the talks we’ve had before.

The best analysts for humans and what makes them tick, from what my experience tells me, are con men and interrogators. The latter would be human lie detectors and the former would be con artists and propagandists.

As for whether Hussein will cook off or not, I suspect that is why Valerie Jarret and his czars exist. He plays golf so many times. Why? Because he might explode if he had to do an actual job with actual stress on it. So he delegates it to his henchmen, like a villain would. Then when the henchie fails, he castigates and punishes the henchie, as a villain would, and makes himself feel superior to the other monkey that poo poo flows downhill on.

It’s not all that rare at higher corporate circles for incompetent bosses to act like that, and that’s for ‘normal’ narcissists, not malignant ones.

The field of psychoanalysis is dominated by the Leftist alliance and its 1000 Hydra head membership. People like Neo Neo or Dr Sanity, are rarities in the field. What that means is that for people like me who sought out the forbidden knowledge of “what makes people tick”, the answers could only be truly found in independent sources. Independent of the Left at least.

I never claimed she did any psychoanalysis at all. I said that as a family therapist she is closer to being a psychoanalyst than I’ll ever be. Not that she is a psychoanalyst.

  32. Neo, I’ve read everything you’ve written. From your 10 July 2014 post “Obama the narcissistically wounded:”

“…The article goes on to describe what can happen if these mechanisms fail to adequately protect the narcissist. What can follow is not pretty, and can include severe depression leading to self-destructive behaviors such as drug addiction and suicide, and/or psychotic breaks. Short of that, though (and I don’t think Obama is even close to reaching that point) , the other defenses work, albeit shakily.

Doesn’t this explain a lot? The last paragraph of the quote in particular certainly explains why Obama wouldn’t even do something as simple as a border photo-op during his trip to Texas, something that on balance probably would have scored political points, even though it would have put him on the spot in other ways. Obama would much rather surround himself with rich admirers, smiling and patting him on the back and getting out their checkbooks to give him vast sums of money.

Right now, to the rest of the world he is saying a big FU. At this point, his very equanimity may depend on shielding himself from too much exposure to reality, and the sycophantic worshipers who advise him agree.”

I know that psychologists and psychiatrists will usually say that it’s a form of malpractice to conduct long-distance analysis, but I was a naval intelligence officer for 20 years and I do know from declassified sources that foreign intelligence services such as the KGB employed psychiatrists to do exactly that.

    “”

  33. Damn my laptop and its optical mouse!

I was going to say that we know from declassified sources that the KGB employed mental health professionals to identify potential agents (lost in the gays in the military debate was the fact that the KGB didn’t primarily look for people they could blackmail but rather enthusiastic turncoats they wouldn’t have to blackmail) and to figure out what makes foreign leaders tick. What buttons they can push; how to get inside their heads.

I know from historical sources the USN did much the same thing during WWII; the results of these studies can be seen in the works of naval historians. For instance, the USN compiled a dossier on VADM Tamon Yamaguchi, commander of the IJN’s 2nd Carrier Division consisting of Hiryu and Soryu at Pearl Harbor and Midway where he essentially killed himself. He had attended Princeton between 1921 and 1923 and the Navy had officers and other alumni give their impressions and evaluations of him. Which is why I didn’t say he studied at Princeton because he was widely described as was much more interested in drinking, womanizing, gambling, horses, and playing polo.

I do not know if the USN (or the government at large) employed psychiatrists or psychologists to evaluate these people, or if they do so to evaluate leaders now since my job was to analyze the operational capabilities of foreign forces. But I do see indications in Putin’s actions, statements, writings, etc. that the Russians have not given up on the practice.

And I strongly suspect that Putin believes he could drive Obama to the breaking point. Not that he would do it. He’d much rather have Obama over a barrel. Part of that, as I see it, is to give Obama hints that he knows how take Obama apart.

I think we mostly agree in our evaluations of Obama; you see a bit more knave in him than I do, I see a bit more fool than you do. My assessment is that he’s closer to a psychotic break than you do, certainly closer than he was a year ago, although I readily admit he may never get to that point. I also don’t think his personal defenses, his own emotional control is as strong as you seem to believe. I think he’s always been protected by people, so that he’s never had to develop those internal defenses to the degree he needs now as President. That’s one of the drawbacks of rising rapidly through the Democratic party ranks. He’s not exactly seasoned. His defensive ring of sycophantic worshipers are his primary defense, not his own ability to control his emotions.

They act like a pressure regulator; they automatically reduce the amount of reality that intrudes into Obama’s bubble to a level he can deal with. Nobody would have to tell anyone in his inner circle to order CENTCOM to doctor the intel, for instance. They’d know to do it on their own.

It appears to me, though, that too many things are coming to a head at this point in time. Events have long been out of hand, but not to this degree. Not even his inner circle may be able to protect Obama from sufficient amounts of reality to the point where Obama’s internal defenses won’t be overwhelmed.

  34. Intel agencies automatically run up profiles on people by checking their family history and associates, interviewing them. They did the same thing to find Saddam.

In fact, Facebook is very close to an intel tool for creating profiles, except whereas in the past people had to use the secret police or interrogations to gain data for such profiles, now people just fill it in on their own.
