Bevin wins in Kentucky
It’s a win for Bevin (R), who was not thought to be a strong candidate, and whose opponent had been leading in the polls.
And Bevin’s win is decisive:
The last Bluegrass Poll before the election showed Conway with a 5-point edge over Bevin, who only won the Republican primary for governor by 83 votes.
Bevin’s win comes the same day outgoing Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear predicted Democrats will run on Obamacare in 2016 and “pound the Republicans into dust.”…
The centerpiece of Bevin’s campaign for Senate in 2014 was defunding Obamacare and as a gubernatorial candidate this year he pledged to roll back Beshear’s acceptance of the Affordable Care Act’s Medicaid expansion. Democrats argued throughout the campaign that his election would place thousands of Kentuckians’ health insurance in jeopardy.
Another thing about this race: Jenean Hampton, who is Bevin’s running mate, is Kentucky’s first African-American lieutenant governor and its first black statewide elected official. A black Republican, I might add.

Republicans and conservatives who comment on blogs often mention that they don’t like to cooperate with pollsters. But till now, I hadn’t seen it reflected consistently in election results; for the most part, polls tend to predict results rather well. Could this type of disparity be the start of a larger trend?
[ADDENDUM: Jenean Hampton’s bio reminds me a little bit of Dr. Ben Carson’s. Take a look:

The earth shook yesterday! In my little corner of the world in eastern Connecticut, the GOP made some huge gains. In Norwich the GOP swept the entire city council. In my own town we have a GOP 1st Selectman and new GOP selectmen for the first time in 25 years, and the BoEd now has 4 new GOP members. He quotes Carson out of context, has him a Bircher conspiracy nut, and paints a picture of a scam artist fleecing voters only to sell books and raise money. And just wait for Trump followers to pile on with this ammunition his given them. What they will overlook is where it is coming from, that is a hard left propagandist who was senior editor at the New Republic, and a friend of Andrew Sullivan the guy who had a fascination with Sarah Palin’s vagina.

No doubt, some of the Republican candidates are weaker than others. Reasonable people will differ as to which are which. The process will go forward, and the one left standing may not be the best candidate, but will be the nominee.
And, at the risk of beating the dead horse yet again — I would vote for Dr. Carson, in a heartbeat, rather than vote for Hillary Clinton. I would vote for Trump, or Jeb, or Christie, rather than vote for Hillary (although I’d be holding my nose).
So far as I know, none of the Republican candidates for the Presidency have destroyed government property and obstructed justice by doing so. None of them have blood on their hands from the utterly preventable deaths of brave Americans; none of them have then lied brazenly about those deaths to the bereaved or to the American people.

well, i work in medical research computing, where i get to work with these people and their medicines and how they do studies, and what you just said is so off base its not even wrong…

thats easy, the issue may be that your not familiar with the school structure in the US… but we go from prek, to k, to grade school, to junior high to high school
the tests given for the schools, which are now under attack by every leftist organization with a racialist or feminist bent as being unfair (ie. its a very hard test and only those that pass and are on the top get to go in. the schools average iq is over 145, has 7-8 nobel prizes and several fields medal (mathematics)).
you can skip a grade, which would make you early
or you can pass the test in the first year of jhs, and enter straight from grade school… which is early as most end up entering after their first year in jhs… so early attendance is straight out of high school skipping jhs…
so i was able to take the test and move directly from grade school, skip jhs, and go to bronx science.
as to the funding… at about the time of the 1980s, and the period where iserbyte was serving and later became a vocal mouthpiece of what was going on, the game in academia shifted to having more women in schools
now, they didnt build more schools… for instance, women got into harvard, but they ALSO had radcliffe… so they got both schools… the colleges proceeded to put out poor white males, especially those who scored high. if you had money, you got to go… if you had assets, you got to go… and if your parents were alumi you have much more chance.
remember a lot of what happened with student loans and things changed after that, but then you had to have $$$… my family came here as refugees… they lost their country, their language, their friends, their money, their homes and everything and came here broke and the older ones illiterate (though in dads side it was arts and sciences)… they became janitors, handy men, garbage workersmm, superintendents for landlords, etc..
you had LOTS of feminists working in the schools and they were, as they do today, misleading students to also game things. like counselors who would tell you three days before the due date that you could apply, when they told the girls (found out later) a couple of months earlier..
they lost your applications they were going to attach with records or never sent them out…
there are no scholarships for white males, and what is available is for everyone… while women, and those of race and religions have their own as well, as those that are for all…
selection committees were then using the idea that its ok to bump someone with better academic credentials for someone of lesser credentials who was favored wiht a pudenda or pigmentation (or both)
alumni were connected enough to cause trouble… those with money could call in a lawyer, or threaten not to donate to the college… but poor inner city slum kids who were white and had no money, they were sool (sh*t out of luck)
of all my friends who got into bronx science, the majority never got to go to college either!!!!
i was one of the more successful, in that i took what money i had, went to continuing ed, and lived on a park bench for a couple of years to get my paper… from that point on having bronx science on my resume helped… which is why now the racialists and feminists are attacking the tests as they are not letting in enough women and people of color and the schools tests being so tough have asians, jews, and white males of ability outscoring others.
by the way, i had an almost perfect sat, but they negated that for affirmative action and balancing gender
there wasnt anything to do… i had a great academic career up to that point, i and my family thought america was a great country and if you worked hard you could get out of the slum.

Georgetown gets the closest to bipartisanship and even they don’t give 40% to Republicans. Outside of Stanford’s 32% given to Republicans, no other university even gives one-fifth to Republican campaigns and committees.

You’re not making any sense on this, I’m afraid. Ben Carson is not a leftist because of his profession. And actually, there are many doctors on the right, despite the fact that very many of them are certainly liberal.

Poll results are adjusted for such things as likely turnout. I expect that the turnout model was wrong in this election, with many more evangelicals showing up than predicted.

I suppose that’s true of any group, but apparently it’s even more extreme for evangelicals. So elections in areas with a lot of evangelicals might be particularly difficult to predict.
